^ Very stable. Judging from this her second week will see a drop that's mild even for Western standards, especially given her huge opening.

So she’s probably selling at least 250k this week.
Probably 2 Million pure sales by year end.

Simply huge.

^^ Remember that Tuesday is the first day of the week. New albums only have 6 days in their debut week.

She's already at 145k for week two.

This is so exciting. Astonishing success. It just shows that people CAN buy albums if there's a reason to it (be it a "final album/compilation" or whatever). She's always been huge, but 1,1M in one week, in 2017, I have no words.

I am a bit confused.
Does Oricon counts Monday till Sunday sales for the total week or Tuesday till Monday?

I am asking because the album was released on Tuesday (like most JP albums) and from Tuesday till Monday it sold 1,113,000 copies (first 7 days combined) and these were the weekly sales.

Tracking week is Monday-Sunday.

New releases are on Tuesdays, so new releases have 6 days of sales on debut week.

The sales posted on Monday are Sunday’s sales.
The album sold 1,067,000 adding the daily figures Tuesday-Sunday. Although in the weekly chart published by Oricon it was 1,113,000 cause the final weekly chart it’s usually higher than if you add daily figures...

Although now that you mention it, adding Monday’s figures gives you 1,113,000... so maybe it’s actually Tuesday-Monday, although I was sure it was Monday-Sunday.
Now I’m confused too...

Right. That because some shops in JP only report once for ORICON . So the weekly chart sales are always higher than the daily added.

Day 1: 459,094 (Tue)
Day 2: 222,295 (Wed)
Day 3: 126,753 (Thu)
Day 4: 91,700 (Fri)
Day 5: 71,876 (Sat)
Day 6: 95,753 (Sun)
Day 7: 45,657 (Mon)

If we combine the daily sales from the first 7 days (Tue - Mon) we have 1,113,128.
''Finally'' debuted at #1 (weekly) with 1,113,291 (around 100 copies more).
Could it be a huge coincidence? What can I say?
We will combine the next 7 days (day 8-14) and we will see if we'll have the same number with the weekly one of the 2nd week.

Nope. The day7 should be the 1st day of week 2. For new release, the 1st week for them are always 6 days due to the CDs were on sale on Tuesday. And for albums which are in 2nd week and or 3rd,4th...they have 7 days for a full week. That's the rule.

Also the albums there are usually released one day earlier of what the street date says. Or something like that. I've seen plenty of releases debut the day before they were supposed to be released. Maybe they count things differently there. But that's why I think the weekly numbers are ok and are almost exactly the same as the first 7 daily updates combined. If you check Oricon, now we see YESTERDAY's chart, the 19th. So... I don't know, it's all weird. But she's slaying. +200k on the second week is huge.

^ Fantastic result.

Oricon Japan Weekly (Physical) Albums

1 [1] Finally - Amuro Jamie - 321,956

Total: 1,435,247 copies

And yes, it is purely a coincidence that her 7 day tally was the same as her first week sales. Albums only have 6 days in their first week (this has always been the case) and the difference between the 6 day total and the actual weekly figures is due to some shops only supplying weekly figures and due to import copies (most relevant for Western artists).

Now, normally the difference (often referred to as the weekly adjustment) is relatively minor. I've seen albums where it's barely 5k on a 6-day total of over 100k. Her adjustments are pretty spectacular.

Perhaps it's due to fanclub sales? I don't know if she has any of those, but fanclub or label direct sales (as Avex Track offers through their mu-mo site) are probably only supplied on a weekly basis and could be huge for an album like this.

Plus, this is probably one of those releases that you find EVERYWHERE - even in shops that don't normally sell that many CDs. Like the ubiquitous Christmas stocking fillers in the UK.

So the days that belong to the 2nd week are the following ones, right?
Day 7: 45,657
Day 8: 48,273
Day 9: 52,319
Day 10: 26,970
Day 11: 35,056
Day 12: 41,796
Day 13: 49,545

Total: 299,616 plus 20,000+ adjustments. Great sales!
