GabrielLula wrote:We have to update the numbers of her discography in wikipedia. The most complete numbers in pure sales are available in https://chartmasters.org/2017/08/cspc-c ... alysis/36/

For exemple: according to the same website, CTTT sold 600k in pure sales. But, when the downloads and streams are counted, the sales go to 677k.
The numbers have to be fixed in Wikipedia.
I used to write some articles at Wikipedia. It only allows "reliable" media, books or websites to be attached as sources. Its staff doesn't consider ChartMasters as reliable. Sorry friend :-?

GabrielLula wrote:Here is a a curiosity: d2k tour sold more than 600k tickets... I don't understand why CTTT had just 380k copies sold. But ok.
The buyer has to redeem the CD with his ticket. If that person doesn't do it, then the "album sale" isn't effective.

alfiebot wrote:tour starts (30k copies to go til Gold), but the tour itself will probably be used to promote the 2nd ABBA album, or the Christmas album, whichever she ends up releasing in the fall.
I wish she released DQ II as a reissue of the original album. In that way this Era could end with strong sales.

EDIT: @alfiebot just came ahead of me

I would say it could be at about 35k in Canada. I would be very surprised if it didn't sell about 10k last week, the #4 album sold 8k back in November.

What an awesome year this has been for Cher! A hit movie, tour, Broadway show and an album, and multiple award nominations and the Kennedy Center Honors!

It just shows that even though she had a roller coaster of a music career, she is a true legend and a much bigger star than many others who sold more in their heyday.

Fingers crossed! I’ve sent them an email a few days ago to ask them about the possibility of a certification :-) Once the tour stars, hopefully Gold will happen if not sooner!

alfiebot wrote:Hi Gabriel and welcome! The thing with Chartmasters is that it’s not official I’m afraid, the numbers there are estimations by a few people who run that site. That being said, it cannot be used as a reference on Wikipedia, even though some of their estimations are pretty close to reality I guess.

As for DQ outselling CTTT, I’m not sure that’s possible. At best, it will sell another 100k in the US in pure sales. They will probably use the 2nd leg of the tour to promote the upcoming album there. I guess WBR rely on the tour to sell the album and are not really looking to push it further nor are they interested in issuing certifications (for many of their artists).
Ah, I didn't know the numbers available in chartmasters were estimations! Thanks for the information!

it seems that DQ has done very well in spotify in Austria. It debuted at number 4. To be certified gold, the album just need to sell about 7,5k. Does someone have informations about the sales in that country? It would be wonderful if DQ could get more certifications than CTTT.

^It will definitely get a few more certifications down the road, most likely in German-speaking countries and Canada.

Yeah, that was my thought as well, re-release Dancing Queen with addittional Abba tracks and a different cover, it would boost the sales of the album and it would be better to end the Mamma Mia/Abba era that way. After that she could release the Christmas album that many fans have been waiting for decades, just in time for the 2019 European tour and the 2nd leg of the US tour in 2020 :D!

^Exactly! Many artists have done it with nice results. There are, for example, Rihanna ("Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded"), Katy Perry ("Teenage Dream: Complete Confection"), Dua Lipa ("Dua Lipa: Complete Edition"), etc. If DQ doens't reach 500k by mid-2019, it wouldn't be a good idea to release a second part separately.

I must say that I would LOVE a Christmas record released by Cher. I though she had to do it when I listened to her rendition to "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" with Rosie O'Donnell. There are also a couple of clips on YouTube that feature Cher singing festive tunes at her TV Show :D

^sales of an album at #57 are 2.9k so DQ is around 2.5k I guess. Total is about 69.5k.

Rolling Stone’s editor Rob Sheffield’s 25 Best Songs of 2018:

22. The Name of the Game

Mamma mia, here she goes again. I love every second of Cher’s ABBA tribute, the clash of the 1970s divorce-anthem titans, but especially her Bjorn-gasmic rendition of “The Name of the Game.” Wish list for 2019: Cher dunks on Bohemian Rhapsody the way she dunked on Mamma Mia, with an album of Queen covers. I’m praying for her “Somebody to Love,” but I’ll settle for “Bicycle Race.”
