The album was #1 in NZ, first hour of release.
I guess the 3-4 months of pre-orders for TOP weren't added to the sales until an hour after.
It'll be interesting to see if this will happen in the US, or UK for example, where the movie is already out.

Because yeah, in Oceania, the movie isn't out until two weeks.

I think this is more likely:

http://www.boxofficeguru.com/weekend.htm

Starpower, stellar reviews, and awards buzz will combine to fuel interest in the new Warner Bros. release A Star is Born which looks to have a rock solid start, and might even overperform by the time the weekend is done. Bradley Cooper stars and directs while Lady Gaga makes her major film debut here with a singing role that fans are going to want to see.

This is the event movie of the fall for mature adults and the stars have broad appeal to a wide age range so potential is huge. Plus strong word of mouth can carry this into November giving the studio one of its highest grossing films of the year. Opening in 3,686 locations, the remake A Star is Born could generate about $36M this weekend.

Apart from the Box Office Pro prediction I mentioned, Boxofficemojo (the #1 boxscores web) estimation is somewhere in the range of 38-48 million.

“At this time we're looking for a debut anywhere from $38-48 million, but no matter how big it opens it is likely to play well into the thick of awards season.”

A Star is Born (3,686 theaters) - $42.0 M

It’s already available in Spain on Apple Music and I’m loving every song so far. Although it’s crazy how half the album are interludes with 20sec tracks. Maybe a strategy to get more streams and bigger SPS numbers? We’ll see

Btw, we all expected Lady Gaga to smash her songs but Bradley Cooper really is the dark horse of this movie :o

There’s a “no dialogues“ version as well. At least on Spotify.

And tracks below 30 sec don’t add streams, so not likely.

Thank you, I just checked and they added a new version of the album without dialogues and “Shallow (Radio Edit)”.

I prefer “Shadow”s original version so I erased the dialogues and I’m ok with the album.

Both UK and US it went #1 before pre-orders went in.

Also, the soundtrack has more songs charting on US iTunes, and soon a lot in the top 100, we should expect a good numbers of TEA for the Billboard 200.
I believe we could take the #1 again on US iTunes once people will have watched the movie and will buy the soundtrack.

We could win SPS. We'll see. this is so exciting.

The movie was great!!

“I’ll Never Love Again” is phenomenal. Glad they are giving this a radio release. I don’t think it’ll do much, but definitely something on Hot AC and AC.
