It sure is, I wonder why the sales jump ?
As explained earlier by WK1,
In answer to Sgt. Pepper's sales spike on iTunes, CBS Sunday Morning aired a special segment on the 50th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Grammy wins.

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do. I wouldn't have thought that a CBS Morning segment would have much impact on sales.I would have thought that there audience of mainly older people had already bought the album ages ago.

Too bad they don't upgrade Sgt.Pepper and Abbey Road, they must be eligible for many
new platinum discs.

Only 6 Beatles' albums have been certified since 2010.

Yellow Submarine was certified 1xP in 1991. It has sold over 1 million copies so 2xP should happen:

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (1969) 1,090,000 (01/2004)

The Beatles are at 178xP with the RIAA. I'm sure they could get close to 200xP with a catalog audit.

Very likely true, but regarding a catalog audit, it just never seems to happen. I even contacted Beatles expert Bruce Spizer last May regarding Sgt. Pepper as a example, he said he would contact Universal (As Capitol records is pretty hopeless) to get titles re certified... Nothing happened, as usual.

You're right !
Please Please Me is 1 platinum and should be 2Xplatinum.
With The Beatles is only gold, should be platinum since 10 years...
Help is 3Xplatinum, should be 4xplat.
Rubber Soul and Revolver should be upgraded from 5 and 6xplatinum to 6 and 7.
Pepper is only 11xplatinum since 21 years (!), should be 13 or 14xplatinum.
Magical Mystery Tour is 6 and should be 7.
The Beatles is 19xplat, should be 22.
Yellow Submarine should be 2xplatinum.
Abbey Road is 12xplat, should be 14 or 15xplatinum.
1962-1966 is 15xplatinum, should be 16.
Anthology 1 is 8xplatinum, should be 9.
Yellow Submarine Songtracks is gold, should be platinum.
And 1 is 11xplatinum, should be 13xplatinum.

And maybe I forgot one or two others...

So, 19 or maybe 21 platinum certs are missing in their totals which could approach or reach the 200 million...

Very, very annoying ! Capitol is really a lazy or a scrimpy label, even with their best-selling act... What a shame !

Capitol is not the company they use to be. They use to care about getting titles certified and re certified as appropriate, but those days are gone. These days, there pretty useless, in particular with there number #1 cash cow over the past 54 years. I'm sure they still like the $$$ that comes there way, courtesy of the Beatles name.

The Beatles scored their first of three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s in 1967, as "Penny Lane" strolled to the top. "All You Need Is Love" and "Hello Goodbye" would also reign before the end of the year, with all songs contributing to the Fab Four's record 20 career Hot 100 toppers.
