With Queen, can't find the last time they charted with the original Greatest Hits album - for a long time now, they've been charting with the remastered version which is at almost 300 weeks on the chart.
The man you need to contact about this is Zeus555, his knowledge about this is phenomenal, almost as good as his knowledge about ABBA!!! :D

The Queen album you're quoting is the remastered re-release which has a different catalogue number - that number is listed as having 285 weeks against it for top 200 wks. This is what I questioned last time I posted in the topic.

Wayne, it's still the same release. The album changed catalogue number because Queen changed record label from EMI to Island. Track listing is identical and so it all counts towards it's total weeks on chart. On the official UK chart website it is listed at 785 Top 75 weeks. Would love to know it's Top 200 weeks.......does anybody know?

Thanks for your updates, Nippian. It's been more than one year since we haven't got album results. I have to say that the digital track sales have dropped, but the streaming data have registered an impressive improvement. Streaming is getting more and more decisive. I think Bohemian Rhapsody is not far from its 5th Platinum, as it has sold more than 4,400,000 digital copies. It depends on how much the streaming market will be decisive in the global amount.

On my UKCP, it's listed as having 285 wks against it - not quite sure what's going on. Hopefully zeus555 might be able to clarify?

This may be of interest to Hernan and a few others, recently stumbled across an advert in Billboard magazine form the April 29th 2006 issue. It's a Queen advert from Hollywood Records celebrating Queen being featured in the VH1 Rock Honours. It states what I presume is over 40,000,000 albums sold in America and confirms in excess of 10,000,000 copies of Queen's Greatest Hits sold in the US, so it should be Diamond in award status, plus sales from the last 11 years!

Below is the link to the advert, it's on Page 2 :D

Queen Confirm ‘News of the World’ 40th Anniversary Edition
By Martin Kielty
http://ultimateclassicrock.com/queen-ne ... y-edition/

Queen have confirmed the release of a 40th anniversary edition of their classic album News of the World, which arrives on Nov. 17 in a deluxe edition. The star feature of the box set is the Raw Sessions CD, which includes an “alternative version” of the original LP, plus further bonus tracks and a documentary DVD.
First launched on Oct. 28, 1977, News of the World was their sixth album and contained the hit singles “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions” and “Spread Your Wings.” It has sold more than six million copies to date and gone four-times platinum in the U.S. It’s the band’s biggest-selling record of their career.
Queen said in a press release, “For many devotees, this Raw Sessions CD will be the most intriguing component of the new release. Mined deep from long-vaulted studio multi-track tapes, this extraordinary paralleled album brings to light never-before-heard alternative versions of each of the album’s 11 tracks.
“Every lead vocal is different, as are most of the lead guitar parts and a great many other instrumental details. Here we experience ‘We Are the Champions’ anew – and for the first time at its full-recorded length rather than the edited 1977 album cut. Here also is the chance to discover peak era Freddie Mercury vocals on a track that nobody outside Queen’s inner circle has heard him sing before at all – Brian May’s ‘All Dead, All Dead.’ The original album version features May himself on vocals.”
The Bonus Tracks CD includes previously released but rare material. Other contents include a pure analog recut of the album, taken from unmastered tapes, Queen: The American Dream documentary, created from 1977 footage shot in the U.S., three posters and a 60-page book of images. The box set is available to pre-order now. A picture disc version, newly cut from the 2011 master, is limited to 1,977 copies and available for pre-order exclusively via the band’s official store.
