Rapper The Game is up next, as his latest album, Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf, debuts at No. 7 with 33,000. He last visited the chart with a new studio set in 2012 with Jesus Piece, which debuted and peaked at No. 6. SELENA VS. THE GAME

It’s not quite a race yet, but after one day of sales. eOne’s The Game looks like it has the potential to give Interscope’s Selena Gomez a little competition for #1 next week. Of course, we’ll have a better picture on Monday when we’ll also be looking at new releases from Toby Keith (Show Dog), R. City (Kemosabe/RCA), Mayday Parade (Fearless), City and Colour (Dine Alone) and Kane Brown (Kane Brown Music).

TOP 15: SELENA TAKES THE LEAD

It’s still close at midweek—also known as Tuesday—but for now we’re giving a slight edge to Interscope’s Selena Gomez for #1 on Friday’s album chart. Gomez stretches her lead considerably, however, when tracks and streams are factored in. eOne’s The Game is holding up surprisingly well with The Documentary 2 and driving interest in this Friday’s release of his follow-up, The Documentary 2.5.

Here’s how it looks at midweek.

1./1. Selena Gomez (Interscope) 80-85k albums, 105-115k SPS

Selena Gomez's 'Revival' Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart
By Keith Caulfield | October 12, 2015

Selena Gomez is on track to earn her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest release, Revival.

Industry forecasters suggest the set -- which was released on Oct. 9 through Interscope Records -- may move upwards of 110,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 15.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Oct. 31-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Gomez may debut at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s Web sites on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Trailing not too far behind Gomez is The Game’s new album, The Documentary 2, which might shift around 90,000 or more. It’s the first of a two-part release for the rapper, who will issue the second half of the set, The Documentary 2.5, on Oct. 16.

Gomez previously led the list with her last studio effort, 2013’s Stars Dance (97,000 copies sold in its first week). The Game has tallied three leaders: The R.E.D. Album (2011), Doctor’s Advocate (2006) and The Documentary (2005).

Selena Gomez Scores Her Second No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
By Keith Caulfield | October 18, 2015

Behind Gomez on the Billboard 200 is rapper The Game with the debut of The Documentary 2 at No. 2 (95,000 units; 83,000 in album sales). It’s the seventh top 10 effort for The Game, following Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf (No. 7 in 2014), Jesus Piece (No. 6; 2012), The R.E.D. Album (No. 1; 2011), LAX (No. 2; 2008), Doctor’s Advocate (No. 1; 2006) and The Documentary (No. 1; 2005).

The new Documentary 2 set is the first of a two-part release for The Game, as he issued The Documentary 2.5 on Oct. 16.

PENTATONIX VS. DEMI: UPDATE

While it's still close overall, Pentatonix now take a clear lead over Demi Lovato in album sales. With streaming data not updated since last week, SPS projections are subject to a larger than usual margin of error.
