How long before it surpasses The Beatles Sgt. Pepper?
A long way to go (according to the OCC's tally).

Sgt Pepper had sold 5,266,554 at the start of July 2017. It spent a further 12 weeks in the top 100 last year (selling ~30k), and about 20 more weeks between 100-200 (selling ~25k). It has probably sold perhaps 15k this year, and therefore if all the totals are added, it should pass 5.35m by the end of 2018.

21 is selling more than Sgt Pepper, but not much more, and it has to make up a ¼ million on it, so unfortunately as of now it is many many years away from surpassing it.

The problem is the official sales of Pepper in UK are fake, as it's been demonstrated many times... Its real sales are probably around 3.5 millions by now, even if the OCC will never admit its mistake (and I am a Beatles fan, not a Beatles stan...).
So 21 has outsold Pepper a long, long time ago and is already the biggest studio album in history in UK !

^^^
Yeah I mentioned this a few years ago on the Adele 21 thread. The thing is unfortunately, the media, TV, record books, internet etc etc will only ever report the OCC's inflated figure. There are just a few people in the UK (and the world) who know or remotely care that the figure is inflated, so sadly to all intents and purposes, the OCC figure is the only relevant one to go by.

Fantastic. :D I was just about to come into this topic and see if it had been posted; 21 was a touch shy of surpassing 5.1m units on last week's chart.

That's very impressive considering 21 reached 13x platinum.

So 21 is =14th, and 25 is now =16th most certified album in history there.
