Oh so there is a Lungs thread after all!

Just to add to this - and these stats are definitely correct now as I got them from Hanboo's infallible Chart Histories thread.

Lungs with 156 consecutive weeks in the top 100 has the 11th longest run of all time - and if it's still there next week it will be in the all-time top ten. A great run for a great album.

1. 328 - Bat Out Of Hell, Meat Loaf
2. 304 - The Sound Of Music, Soundtrack
3. 244 - Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon & Garfunkel
4. 224 - Greatest Hits, Queen
5. 195 - Greatest Hits, Simon & Garfunkel
6. 186 - Brothers In Arms, Dire Straits
7. 180 - South Pacific, Soundtrack
8. 168 - The Fame (Monster), Lady Gaga
9. 163 - West Side Story, Soundtrack
10. 157 - Talk On Corners, Corrs
11. 156 - Lungs, Florence and the Machine

It will be equal 10th next week. So if it fell out after 157 weeks, it would still be listed in the all-time top 10 if someone were to look up these stats in future. 8-)

In any case I think it will definitely spend at least 2 more weeks and hopefully many more.

The thing is that Talk On Corners already reached the 157 weeks before, so to see Lungs reaching the top 10, it has to chart for 1 more week, meaning 158 weeks...

So?

When Adele's "21" reached 24 weeks at No 1 in the US, we didn't say it was still below Saturday Night Fever and Purple Rain because they got there first.

I think you know this and are just arguing for the sake of it - as usual

No, why should I?
It's also that an album would need 329 weeks to push Bat Out Of Hell down to No. 2...
It's like on the charts: When two albums sell exactly the same, they won't have the same position, but it's usually the one to have the bigger increase/smaller decrease that's charting higher.

But I don't wanna argue about this with you, it's just a detail and Lungs is likely to stay on the chart's top 100 for 2 or more weeks anyway...

Well yes - but if they both ended up on 328 weeks, they would be the joint record holder. Bat Out Of Hell wouldn't be 1st and the other album 2nd. Don't you understand basic maths?

Depends on the chart and the time in history etc - I think there have been instances of joint chart positions in the past.

Agreed.

Lungs went up again this week to No 64 (no doubt aided by Florence's recent festival appearances).

It's now among the top ten all-time consecutive runs in the UK Top 100. (And shows no signs of dropping out any time soon..)

Longest consecutive runs in the UK Top 100 albums

1. 328 - Bat Out Of Hell, Meat Loaf
2. 304 - The Sound Of Music, Soundtrack
3. 244 - Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon & Garfunkel
4. 224 - Greatest Hits, Queen

7. 180 - South Pacific, Soundtrack
8. 168 - The Fame (Monster), Lady Gaga
9. 163 - West Side Story, Soundtrack
10. 158 - Lungs, Florence and the Machine

Lungs stayed at No 64 on this week's chart. It still seems stable - I wonder if it will beat Gaga (the longest run of recent years) for consecutive weeks in the Top 100? 8-)

Lungs finally fell out of the UK Top 100 this week - after 176 consecutive weeks (July 2009 - November 2012).

This was the 8th longest consecutive run in UK album chart history;

1. Bat Out Of Hell, Meat Loaf - 328 wks
2. The Sound Of Music, Soundtrack - 304 wks
3. Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon & Garfunkel - 244 wks
4. Greatest Hits, Queen - 224 wks
5. Greatest Hits, Simon & Garfunkel - 195 wks
6. Brothers In Arms, Dire Straits - 186 wks
7. South Pacific, Soundtrack - 180 wks
8. Lungs, Florence and the Machine - 176 wks

It was the longest consecutive run for 25 years (since Brothers In Arms).
