This is and old post.
It says The Union sold 329.000 one year ago.
How can it be possible it has sold 324.000 copies now ?

About Elton hosting the SNL on 2nd April
http://www.billboard.com/charts/billboa ... 0482.story

contains videos from the show and this information
(until the end of march)
Fortunately, John got to show off his musical skills as well, in a pair of performances alongside Leon Russell.
Their joint album, "The Union," has sold 329,000 copies since its October release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It is no old post. These are the numbers from the new billboard charts. Lucad has written that you have to add downloads and he´s rigth. 324k are physical sales alone. The Union is an album you buy on CD because of it´s story and the booklet and so on. Number Ones for instance has much more digital sales than physical.

I think it´s hard to say excactly how large the digital sales are for The Union but considering it´s standing power on AMAZON maybe at least one quarter of sales are downloads. So if you have 324k CDs sold than you may have 80k-100k downloads or maybe more.

Yes, on billboard for certifications they count physical and digital.

Today, THE UNION has spent 253 days on the AMAZON top 100

there are only two accreditations at all. UK silver (60k) and Canada gold (40k).

In some countries maybe there is a possibility for a cert but the record company is not interested in (for instance Brazil, Russia, Denmark or Norway). Each of them has low numbers for cert.

A gold upgrade in UK is unlikely these days.

For some reasons you can hope for gold in US. But it will last some time and you have to assume that cataloge sales will continue. Meanwhile sales of The Union are lower than GYBR.

There was another passage of the documentary. Everytime it's on tv, the album re-enters the Amazon top 30
