Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' is UK's most downloaded track of all time

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' has been unveiled as the UK's most-downloaded track of all time.

The Pharrell Williams-produced song claimed the top spot in the All-time Official Download Chart Top 100, as compiled by the Official Charts Company, which was counted down on BBC Radio 1 today (April 21).

The track has sold 1.54 million copies since it was released in May 2013, making it one of only two songs to ever surpass the 1.5 million mark.

Thicke said of the achievement: "I'm so honoured, the success of 'Blurred Lines' is a dream come true."

Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot added: "'Blurred Lines' is surely one of the catchiest pop hits of all time, so its success is no great surprise.

"But to become one of only two tracks to have been downloaded 1.5m times and climb to the top of the poll as the biggest download of all time is an incredible achievement."

Having sold 1.53 million copies, Adele's 2011 hit 'Someone Like You' follows closely in second place, while Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's 'Moves Like Jagger' takes number three.

Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' lands at number four, and 2009 party tune 'I Gotta Feeling' by Black Eyed Peas rounds off the top five.

Daft Punk, Rihanna and Kings Of Leon also feature in the top ten of the chart, which was counted down by Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Jameela Jamil this afternoon to celebrate ten years since the launch of legitimate downloading in 2004.

Now That's What I Call Music have also celebrated the landmark by releasing Now That's What I Call 21st Century today, which includes 62 of the official biggest selling downloads of the past 10 years.

MTV will broadcast a special weekend of programming celebrating a 'Decade of Download' from May 3 to May 5.

Since 2004, 1.17 billion single track downloads and 153 million album downloads have been bought in the UK, with 27 tracks surpassing 1 million downloads each.

See the full top ten from the All-time Official Download Chart below:

1) 'Blurred Lines' - Robin Thicke/T.I./Pharrell Williams
2) 'Someone Like You' - Adele
3) 'Moves Like Jagger' - Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera
4) 'Somebody That I Used To Know' - Gotye ft Kimbra
5) 'I Gotta Feeling' - Black Eyed Peas
6) 'Get Lucky' - Daft Punk ft Pharrell Williams
7) 'We Found Love' - Rihanna ft Calvin Harris

United States:

"Happy" holds at #2 on both charts for the second week. The song tops the 5 million mark in sales this week. It's Williams's second song to reach that plateau. Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," on which he was featured, is up to 7,049,000. At the risk of being corny, Williams deserves credit for coming up with a song that made the whole world happy, if only for a few minutes.
