A hard one. I'd be happy whoever wins this.

But today I'll vote for Britney.

I think Rehab is the best song of the 3 but in terms of the greatest chorus of the 21st century, my vote goes to Umbrella.

"Umbrella" is the best song of the three, but "Oops..." has the best chorus, so it's Britney for me.
Franklin’s music profoundly touched and changed the world, because over and over it offered that bridge to salvation, to freedom.

Unlike other things that wither, she preserves. She’s a constant in a world of relentless flux. She’s a beacon of immortality. Bitch, she’s Madonna.

The results are in!

Here's how things played out in the final round...

3rd Place:

Rihanna - Umbrella ft Jay-Z - When Rihanna dropped this smash in 2007, she was already quite a big popstar, but this undoubtedly the song that shot her into super-stardom. The infectious "ella ella ella eh eh eh" hook became a pop culture phenomenon and would be referenced for many years after. A decade later, some would still consider this her signature song, despite a wealth of equally big hits since. The song was written by Tricky Stewart, who was responsible for two other gargantuan hits - Justin Bieber's 'Baby' and Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'. The song was famously shopped around to many other singers including Britney Spears, Taio Cruz & Mary J Blige, before it finally saw release with Rihanna and an added verse from Jay-Z.

2nd Place:

Britney Spears - Oops! ...I Did It Again - Following up a ground-breaking debut album was never going to be an easy feat, but when Max Martin & Britney Spears returned to the studio, oh boy did they deliver. 'Oops! ...I Did It Again' was not only a massive international hit, it became part of the popular culture lexicon. The track was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2001, but ultimately lost to Macy Gray's 'I Try'.

1st Place:

Amy Winehouse - Rehab - In late 2006, Amy Winehouse scored her international breakthrough with 'Rehab', the lead single from her second album. The track was a critical darling, winning three Grammy awards - Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The track was written by Amy herself and produced by Mark Ronson, who produced most of the tracks on the accompanying 'Back to Black' album. A short few years later, Amy's battle with drugs and alcohol would get the better of her, adding to the bittersweet tale the song tells.

There were many songs in this survivor that were better than "Rehab", but out of the Top 3 it's the best one, so I guess I'm satisfied with it being the winner.

Thanks for hosting. :)
