Voted for Drake in the poll as it's my favorite from the options. You always seem to be ahead of everyone when it comes to discovering new artists so I'm really excited for this. Last year's chart introduced me to Bastille and Ben Howard. :)

I kinda think that Royals is somehow overrated, but Another Love, Pompeii and Wrecking Ball are masterpieces. This would be a great Top3. - it's just a hint :)

I know you love some of these, but really not sure on what could be your favorite... I'll go with Drake since it's the one I like the most, along with Pompeii and Another Love.

Thanks for the comments and votesicles guys! :D
Right, this year in my opinion has been a great year for music - so much great music out there and I feel 2014 has just as much potential. Anywayyyy, even my no. 100 probably would have made my top 50 last year - that's how much music I've loved this year. I couldn't whittle it down to top 100 with just 20 missed so I have listed 10 missed tracks from each genre

Tracks that missed out...

London Grammar - Metal & Dust

Sad that MKS didn't make it...flopped on your chart like they flopped in the real charts.

I voted for Bastille cos I know you love them, even though I think they're overrated.
Let's embrace the point of no return.

I voted for Tom Odell. Hope he's not too far off a pick.

From the pop batch, I am here for "Bonfire Heart", "Applause", and "22". James's is one of his best singles to date, Gaga's will rank super high on my own countdown, and Taylor's is just fun, nothing special, but pure fun. :D

From the urban batch, I like/love "Lose To Win", "Love Me Again", and "Thrift Shop". Fantasia's is up for top honours on my own list as you already know, John's is good and may make the shortlist for my Top 100, and "Thrift Shop" is perhaps the year's biggest grower for me. I thought it was nonsense at the height of its success, but when it died down I fell in love with it.

From the alternative batch, I appreciate "Still Into You" and "Grow Old With Me". Paramore's is probably their catchiest single to date. It was such a refreshing track after the middle-of-the-road, forgettable "Now". Tom's is really sweet. I like the story he tells. I must highlight "Ho Hey" though. I abhor that song.

Not really here for any of the electronic songs, but might check a few out later. :D
Aretha Franklin was an angel. Her voice helped lift our spirits and at times gave us the soundtrack to cope with our pain.

Paramore - Still Into You

All these are great, especially "Applause" and "Love Me Again". :P

You've missed out one of the songs in my top 3 which makes me sad!

Mostly surprised about John Newman missing the cut!

I voted Bastille!

Went for Bastille in your poll, although Gorgon City could be a surprise #1 as well. I know you love Yasmin.

Out of the tracks that missed out, I like the following:

Foxes - Youth
Haim - Forever
James Blunt - Bonfire Heart
Lady GaGa - Applause
MKS - Flatline
Natalia Kills - Saturday Night
Drake (feat. Jhené Aiko) - From Time
John Newman - Love Me Again

Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me
Disclosure (feat. Eliza Doolittle) - You & Me
Le Youth - C O O L

Pretty long list  Gutted to see Flatline missing your chart! And surprised to see John missing out as well.

Some great ones there!

Think Applause and The 1975 will just miss my list too but Thrift Shop, MKS, Chris Malinchak, Le Youth, Disclosure/Eliza, Bondax, All About She should all be in there!

Thanks for the comments guys! The votes are very interesting, verrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy interestinggggggg muhahaha :P
Let's hit the top 100 kids,

100. LAURA WELSH Undiscovered

Image

I have absolutely loved Laura Welsh this year. From her debut track, Unravel, produced by Dev Hynes; to her 2nd single, 'Cold Front', produced by Rhye, and this banger produced by Dev Hynes and Emile Haynie she has already worked with the cream of the crop of upcoming, critically acclaimed producers. This was a shift into something more alternative compared to her more 80s R&B style of the previous singles. She worked it well, and the track has an anthemic production which works well with her gorgeous soulful tone.

099. VAMPIRE WEEKEND Diane Young

Image

I had already been aware of Vampire Weekend and really enjoyed A-Punk from their last album but this is definitely my favourite of their songs to date. I love the production and the verses, the entire thing is so catchy. I love the vocoded effects on the vocals it really suits the song. Radio 1 have played this loads and on my way to work I used to hear it all the time, so it now reminds me of early mornings  Great track, I need to listen to their album at some point!

098. MARIAH CAREY feat. MIGUEL #Beautiful

Image

Mariah Carey has been very hit and miss recently, but I knew we were in for a treat when we first heard that she was teaming up with Miguel for her single. I must admit when the hashtagged title was revealed my excitement dwindled a bit but when I heard the song I knew I needn't have worried. I have been waiting for Maz to release a classy R&B song with crossover appeal and this is just that. It has a retro feel and Miguel and Mariah sound great together. Glad it was successful for them.

097. KODALINE All I Want

Image

This is just a stunning track. Kodaline have been one of my favourite bands of 2013 and Steve's vocals just makes me melt, it's that beautiful - that tone oh lort. This is a lovely ballad and I love how it builds up continuously throughout the song to that gorgeous instrumental part at the end that just tops off the song. Oh gosh, this is a fantastic song by a very good band. There is definitely more Kodaline coming up, so stay tuned!

096. THE SATURDAYS Disco Love

Image

What About Us was one of the biggest hits of the year, but The Sats made a bit of a misstep with the followup Gentleman. It was OK, minus the cringey rap but they definitely brought it back with this. It's a great pop tune with a very catchy chorus. It captures that period well but without sounding dated, it is also very current. It's great pop music which is what The Saturdays are all about. Unfortunately I have not been too impressed by their album, some of the songs sound so cheap.

095. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS feat. MARY LAMBERT Same Love

Image

Sometimes rap music can have cringey awful lyrics but sometimes you get a fantastic slice of hip-hop that is powerful in its message and can make an impact on the world. That is exactly what this song has done. One of the most powerful songs of the year, and such a great time to see a hip-hop artist and hip-hop song tackle the issue of homophobia. The verses show some great lyricism from Macklemore and the chorus is gorgeous with Mary Lambert's vocals. Great song.

094. RUDIMENTAL feat. EMELI SANDE Free

Image

Rudimental have had a fantastic 2013, with some of the biggest hits of the year under their belt and a critically acclaimed album. This is their most recent single, featuring the omnipresent Emeli Sandé. The song is a bit different for Rudimental and is more Emeli's style perhaps. Still, it's a gorgeous song - very uplifting and some great lyrics penned by Emeli. I can see this being an anthem in years to come, and used for BBC montages and things

093. JASON DERULO feat. 2 CHAINZ Talk Dirty

Image

Jason DeRulo I thought would not be successful after a successful single run with the last album campaign, but he went and proved me wrong. 'The Other Side' did very well, but this SMASHED. It has a very cool vibe, I love the Balkan/Middle-Eastern breakdown, and he sounds so charismatic on the vocals too. Jason really impressed me with this one, it was so instant however I do think it has lost some of its charm now hence why it's quite low.

092. JAY Z feat. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Holy Grail

Image

Both JAY Z and Justin Timberlake had a successful 2013 and both released two big comeback albums. It was only right that after Jay-Z featured on JT's 'Suit n Tie' that JT would return the favour and feature on Jay's single. This was much better than Justin's single. It has a classic feel. JT sounds amazing, singing better than ever and Jay's verses were strong as well. It is a statement song. Jay-Z's album wasn't amazing but it was enjoyable enough.

091. ELEN LEVON Dancing To The Same Song

Image

Australian songstress, Elen Levon, has released a string of great singles this year but hasn't quite managed to get that hit which is all elusive to her at the moment. I was certain that this would have been her smash, it's such a big pop song that could have been a hit globally but wasn't given the chance. Elen has moved on from these pop/dance songs to more folky-pop songs which are also awesome but this is her only song that I've got on my countdown!
