I love the richness of this and I really enjoy how she sings this cosy track and the male voice adds a certain something.

Current All-Time Position: #150

Blondini introduced me to Ray on his chart, the album is such a great listen, this epic reminded me of early Zombies, so lush and perfect! Dreamy.

20. Laura Nyro - Brown Earth

Current All-Time Position: #42

Laura is a recent-ish discovery for me this is her biggest hit on my all-time so far, she had a great soulful sound and this has a great melody. I discovered her through a video where Natalie Cole mentioned her as a favourite.

19. Paul Simon - Cool Papa Bell

Current All-Time Position: #149

"James Thomas "Cool Papa" Bell was an American center fielder in Negro league baseball from 1922 to 1946. He is considered by many baseball observers to have been one of the fastest men ever to play the game" So this song is about a real life person. An uptempo joy!

17. Michael Franks - B'wana He No Home

Current All-Time Position: #147

Originally a hit for Carpenters on my chart, this original is so much better though, Michael was probably the biggest discovery for me in 2016, love this funky tune and his soft calm voice.

14. The Beach Boys - That's Not Me

Current All-Time Position: #25

Beautiful track from their classic album "Pet Sounds", has become one of my faves from them, I feel like I can relate to some of the lyrics (even if they are somewhat innocent, but that's the charm) It's just so melodic and has those soaring vocals you expect from them, a top 30 all-timer at present. :D

It just hit me in 2016 how much of a classic this is! I can really relate to the lyrics at this stage of my life too, so I just love this song so much and I'm going to miss David. RIP.

The sadness in the song resonates with me and how can you resist that soaring voice in that amazing chorus? :( Moves in to my all-time top 40 this year.

I know I seem to like so many sad and miserable songs. This is a personal fave, I just resonate again with that sincere and innocent kind of sadness I get from Amy in this.
