Last Shadow Puppets - Everything You've Come To Expect

With Arctic Monkeys on hiatus, Alex Turner has turned his attention to the second album (and first in 8 years) with his side project with Miles Kane. Another stellar set of songs from one of this generations' finest songwriters.

I haven't heard the whole album but I do intend to, as I enjoyed both Bad Habits and Miracle Aligner. I saw them at Glastonbury this year and I wished I knew more of the songs!

Kinda jealous you got to go to Glastonbury, they always have such stellar lineups

Yea, LSP kinda flew under the radar this year, if you like Alex's work with AM, you'd like this too

Frank Ocean - Blond

He had a lot of expectations following up Channel Orange, and IMO he didn't measure up to that level but the followup has grown on me a bit. Much less "catchy" than its predecessor and more moody, but I do think the best songs here rival anything he's done beforehand.

Great to see Blonde here. I disagree that it doesn't measure up to channel ORANGE; I actually prefer Blonde by some margin. "Ivy", is also my favourite, but "Nights", "Pink + White", "Solo", "Self-Control", and "Seigfreid" are all varying levels of awesome.

Sturgill Simpson - A Sailor's Guide To Earth

Currently the golden boy of the alt-country movement, culminating with an Album Of The Year nomination at the Grammy to show they know something exists outside of chart music. His latest album moves him somewhat out of traditional country and blends his old-school sound with some 60s soul influences as well. Truly an excellent album and if the nod (which he won't win) helps turn a few new fans onto him, than that is a good thing.

I had no idea M83 returned this year. The song you posted is good.

Not a big fan of Frank Ocean's album to be honest. Expected more after the hype he got.

Need to check out Sturgill Simpson's album. Already loved that cover when i first saw it back when the album came out but never took the time to check the music out as well...

Great list so far :)

My favorites are Kendrick, RHCP (although I don't like Go Robot) and Weezer.

Dawes - We're All Gonna Die

Barely a year after "All Your Favorite Bands", Dawes returns with a somewhat augmented sound compared to their tried-and-true Jackson Browne-esque California songwriter rock sound that they've warmly brought back over the years, plus their famously clean-shaven lead singer emerged with a beard to show the change in direction. Here they bring a slight tinge of funkiness to the sound that doesn't quite measure up to their finest work (and the leadoff single "When The Tequila Runs Out" was awful), but is still worth checking out. Taylor Goldsmith is one of this generations finest songwriters.

Kendrick's "Untitled. Unmastered." was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it, and i'm usually not into rap at all.

I had a strong disdain for rap during the "bitches and hos" flashy years that were all over MTV. Kendrick and a few others were instrumental in opening my ears and mind up to how good hip hop music actually is when you get past the stereotypical nonsense.

#28 - 25 - Adele - 10/10 - timeless album.
#27 - Junk - M83 - 10/10 - Nominated for AOTY in my annual rundown. Do It Try It is one of the best electro tunes of all times.
#24 - The Colour In Anything - James Blake 10/10 - amazing album. He is one of my hipster faves.
#18 - Blond - Frank Ocean - 10:10 - nominated for R&B Album of the Year.
