#9 Branko & Mayra Andrade - Reserva Pra Dois
Portuguese electronic musician Branko teamed up with a singer from Cape Verde Mayra Andrade to creatle this gentle electronic song. In fact it sounds loung-y yet I am not bored by this at all, it flows pleasantly.

#8 Jesse Davidson - Lagoon
Australian singer-songwriter created a solemn, phylosophical atmosphere in this synthpop/indie pop ditty.
It may sound a bit lazy or sluggish or Beck-esque.

Thanks a lot!
Zebra Island reminds me of Pale Saints' "Kinky Love"

She is like Paloma Faith before the mainstream hit her.

I love her accent (Bec), can't imagine Paloma doing something like this, I guess it's because I'm used to her big pop songs. Looks like quite a bit for me to listen to soon. :D

heppolo wrote:#67 Dënver - El fondo del Barro - you could have guessed it, this chilean song is extremely dance-able and catchy
Hi heppolo :D

Our tastes in music are so different but i'm so happy to say i know one song in your countdown so far (bare in mind i'm only on page 1 right now! :P ).

I really liked the track Dënver which i discovered via the FSC in October. It was a worthy winner imo and i gave the track 7 points.

I should check out more of your chart. Which act would you recommend to someone who is mostly into pop and dance but does listen to other genres too. Bare in mind i'm not a big fan of urban music like that dreadful Juju on that beat or rock bands where the lead singer screams down the microphone.

heppolo wrote:#54 The Veronicas - In My Blood - one of the few pop tunes in my top, this is extremely catchy, I actually like the stylish music video
Great to see The Veronicas getting an appearance here with the sublime In my blood. :D

heppolo wrote:#48 Viola Beach - Boys That Sing - this year has been tragic for musicians all around, but for me these boys have a special place in my 2016 notes
I didn't know who Viola Beach were prior to the news of their untimely deaths. It's all the more shocking to think that here was a band who were probably on their way to becoming one of the biggest indie bands of 2016 but we will never know. It did make me pay more interest and check out their singles that started to appear on iTunes shortly afterwards. I liked their track Swings & waterslides which made my own chart the following week.

#6 song is good.

Now listening to Department M album (not to be confused with Department S - 80s band who recently came back and who i thought this was for a second!).

Thanks for the comment, I'd say Viola Beach had another great song, "Cherry Vimto"

Elias - Down N Out - if you like soul music
Scarlet Pleasure - Heat - if you can tolerate 90s pop revival in its most unapologetic form (from 2015)
I think, you might like my number 9 (Branko & Mayra Andrade - Reserva Pra Dois) and #19 (Slumberjack feat. Daniel Johns - Open Fire), these are both very accessible yet subtle electronic pop.
Little Jinder - Super 8 - nearly reached my top 200
Death Team - Dolphin Style - thrashy pop, but they were closer to my top last year
Daniel Adams-Ray - För er - swedish pop, big production value
Katrine Stochholm - Fugle Krybdyr Rovdyr Padder - subtle electronic pop from Denmark
Wangel - Sorrowdrift - dramatic pop with very distinctive vocals
Lieminen - Pehmeiden arvojen vaalijat - Finnish Daft Punk-esque music, I liked it instantly (guardian of the soft values?) :)

The whole record is a bit dark and melancholic, has a slight industrial background

#5 Květy - V jezeře mléka a mlhy
This Czech outfit creates a chamber pop/twee pop atmosphere with slightly melancholic undertones.
One of the FSC featured this song.

#4 Rose Elinor Dougall - Stellular
Some may call this song a bit pretentious, but I don't care.
This is my kind of jam, especially the "Stop giving yourself away/Some things about to change" lines...
Burn brighter 8-)
