Okay I'm gonna do this later today when I get some time, it'll only be a top 10 all over in one go since I don't have enough free time to do a whole top 100 :o :D

I'm sure you can guess who'll be in the top 10 ;) But there's a couple of surprises too :D

Ok here goes:

10. Christina Aguilera - Fighter
I really don't like Christina much, and haven't been crazy over any other single from her album, but Fighter was an exception. I love the meaning of the song and I actually for once love the way she sings it :o I still think it's the only time I've ever heard her voice really full of emotion besides the incredible Impossible, so it comes in at #10 for me :D

9. David Sneddon - Don't Let Go
From the first time I watched the video to this I loved it despite the fact that everyone told me the whole time that we look exactly the same  In fact my ex-girlfriend couldn't watch FA cause he made her think of me and cry. Okay so I'm off the point now, but it's just a truly great song, lyrically and musically, and his performance of it is just stunning :o

8. Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father
I know it's not out in the UK until Feb, but I've been listening to it for months. One of the most emotional, incredible songs ever written. Period. It has made me cry every single time I've heard it. I hope this is huge for him when it's released here.

7. Delta Goodrem - Lost Without You
I actually heard this way before Born To Try thanks to my Aussie pals ;) I instantly loved it. I know it's not a lot of people's favourite Delta song, but I think it's incredible and muccccch better than Born To Try :D

6. Ariel Rivera and Regine Velasquez - Tell Me
What do you get when you take a semi-famous actor/singer, mix him with the most successful female singer, let them have a relationship.. and then err... split them up? You get a beautiful heartbreaking song in order to get him some free publicity 8-) However despite the obvious "I need a career boost" motive of this, Ariel actually sounds rather good and Regine just sounds heartbroken, proving once again that no one can sing with as much emotion as she can :o

Top 5 tonight :D

Okaaaaay onto the top 5:

5. Beyonce feat Jay-Z - Crazy In Love
The first time I heard this song I hated it  I was seriously like "OMG what has she done". In fact, it wasn't until AFTER it had been #1 that I really started to love it and ever since I have been totally addicted. Awesome video, awesome song, it's just a shame the rest of the album never really lived up to this standard. After seeing her do it live, it increased my love of the song a million times. I think it's one of the few truly GREAT R'n'B songs in what has been a pretty poor year for R'n'B IMO.

4. Laura Pausini - Surrender
Okay this was my song of the summer. I loved all of Laura's Italian stuff, and was eagerly waiting for the English album, which sadly wasn't as great as I was expecting. However it did contain one of the best songs ever written, If That's Love, and also this single that was actually never intended to be on the album! It's a shame that the single never got released in the UK because of Laura's disagreement with her record company over how her English career was handled, but hopefully she'll try again. And I respect her even more for standing by her roots and refusing to be Americanised by the music industry. So meh :P A truly great pop feel-good song that should've been huge.

Top 3 later :D

Woooo for Beyoncé. The first time I heard it, I loved it! :o

But to appreciate the song, you have to see it live.
It also helps if you watch it live with the person you are crazy in love with!

Woo for both of those!

Beyonce's song's got one of the best horn sections of the year... and still sounds great!

Took me a while to get into Laura Pausini's song, but I ended up loving it!

And finally there were 3...

3. Delta Goodrem - Not Me, Not I
As a new door opens, we close the ones behind
And if you search your soul I know you'll find
You never really knew me

Sometimes there are songs that are written about you, and this song is written about my life. Although strangely when I firt heard it I didn't like it much, but as soon as I saw the video I loved it, and that's when I realised how much it is actually about me. The video is stunning and captures the mood of the song completely. It's nice that she actually gets so much emotion in there without screaming the song like a lot of female singers tend to do (although I love screaming songs  ). There's not much else to say, it's just perfect in every way. :o :D

2. Mariah Carey - Bringin' On The Heartbreak
I'm sorry but it's true, you're bringing on the heartbreak
Taking all the best of me, oh can't you see
You've got the best of me, oh can't you see

Mariah's best song for years and it's so sad that this never got released here, although I have heard that maybe it will come out in January/Feb time when she'll be here to promote it :o Everything about it is perfect and it proves why she is the biggest seller of the 90's. I prefer the single remix to the album version although I actually love both but I really think you've gotta hear it live to truly get it. It proves that she is not just another R'n'B singer and that she actually has the guts to try something different although not as different as......

1. Regine Velasquez - Sa Aking Pag-iisa (In My Loneliness)
In my loneliness, I can't stop thinking of you
The sweetness of your kiss keeps coming back to me
And I get so excited... in my loneliness

Image

This achingly beautiful R'n'B ballad is definitely Regine's most sexual and sensual song. However, the single mix caused outcry among the Philippines deeply religious community, partly due to the lyrics, partly due to the very sensual video, but a whole lot more due to the fact the tempo of the song not-so-subtly resembles sex. Starting slow, and then climaxing into a fast dance ending. Amid all the controversy, it's easy to forget how beautiful the song actually is and how well the lyrics describe the feeling of missing someone you love. The song is set to win the 2004 MTV Asia "Best Filipino" (it has 96% of the vote :o ) and has already won the 2003 MTV Philippines Best Song Award where she performed the incredible Arabian Metal Remix lol.. (imagine Arab music meets Linkin Park meets Tamia) which to the surprise of everyone actually WORKED!
