"Feels" is a bop! It's definitely Calvin's best song to date.

And yet another Taylor song you have higher than I did: 21 vs. 25. "Call It What You Want" is deceptively ordinary; you listen to it that first time, and think it's good enough, but nothing special, but that sinister hook grabs you and refuses to let go. Before you know it, you've had this mellow concoction of carefree pop on repeat for an hour.
And the category is: LIVE. WORK. POSE!

All of the songs from #23 to #21 are cool, my favourite being LMK, obviously!

Kelela was such a breath of fresh air in 2017!

'Feels' is nice, but not one of my faves from Calvin's album.
Ir recently discovered 'LMK' - good song.

I agree, it's carefree, but also kinda melancholic. and at first unremarkable, which is baffling when I see how much I like it now.

update maybe later, my life is hectic these days

21. Taylor Swift - Call It What You Want

That's a very nice tune and was a big grower for me. Wouldn't mind it if this becomes an official single sooner or later (maybe autumn/winter 2018?)

don't think it would do well as a single, but it could be cute. I'd much rather have Delicate as a single

sorry guys still no update, moving flats and working 2 jobs = barely any time for anything. I just do the bare minimum with the survivors

'Feel', 'LMK' and 'Call It What You Want' are all incredible songs. I looove Kelela so much. I really like the understated vibe that Call it What You Want goes for, Taylor sounds awesome on that song.

20. Cheat Codes - No Promises (feat. Demi Lovato)

Image

This is possibly Demi's best release this year despite her own solo stuff. As basic as the whole thing is, it's a perfect euphoric pop song and the melody flows so well. The guy's vocals are kinda teen emo, but they somehow fit well with Demi's. Actually, her vocals are near her career best, she hasn't sounded so effortless, strong, but not grating in years! She lifts the whole song to new levels.

19. Sevdaliza - Bluecid

Image

Magical, beautiful. Sevdaliza is a pure artist, the alt R&B sound combined with her unique vocals is just something otherworthly. Her music videos also feel like short movies, and honestly the whole imagery has this eerie, unsettling, but appealing vibe to it. It's a big recommendation from me to anyone.

18. Tori Amos - Reindeer King

Image

I was disappointed to find that I really don't enjoy the newest album by my once favourite artist. This song, however, moved me right away just like Tori usually does. It's a political song on a mainly political album, but also interwoven with nature and family, as Tori sings about her mother who suffered a stroke which rendered her unable to speak, which makes the repeated line "gotta get you back to you" even more gripping.

"No Promises" is decent. I thought the male vocal was Bieber the first time I played the song.

I like that Sevdaliza song, I find it so cool how she mixes the Persian music influences into her music.

17. Dua Lipa - New Rules

Image

After some underperformances and flops, it seemed that Dua had peaked with Be the One. Then this massive tune smashed the charts and enlightened us with its three holy commendments. The song sounds very current, but manages to avoid sounding generic, which makes it pretty much one of the best pop songs of this year. My personal favourite is, however, the amazing Initial Talk 80s Remix, which is what I mostly listen to nowadays.

16. SZA - Drew Barrymore

Image

I'm still getting into SZA's whole album, but I have to give her credit for being one of the best things to happen to R&B recently. Her sound falls into modern R&B, but like Kelela's, retains some of the classic elements. Her vocals are lush and warm, and this song is packed with emotion. I love the inclusion of strings in the song, it makes it even greater. Oh, and the Drew Barrymore cameo in the video is so cute!

15. Tove Lo - Disco Tits

Image

Tove may have topped herself with this one. The song exudes sex and the pulsating beat just makes you want to dance, do hard drugs and have orgies. The production is wonderful and slays on good speakers or headphones. It's a shame it flopped, very undeservingly, but I guess this title, lyrical content AND video are just too much for radio-friendly domains. I'm sure fans loved it, and I hope she releases something that slays on the charts in the future for her success' sake.

14. Björk - Blissing Me

Image

Björk's new album is just one more I couldn't digest at all, and it even topped the previous one when it comes to lacking melody or enjoyable sounds. This song is like the bright star in the murky flute sea - it's backed by a lovely harp (which I always like), the melody is gentle, like a lullaby, her vocals sound vulnerable, it almost feels like an older Björk song from the Vespertine era. It's absolutely stunning, really!

"New Rules" is a memorable bop. I'm curious to see if Dua can top it.

"Disco Tits" is fun. It doesn't have the effect you speak of on me, but it's definitely one of her finest singles. The SZA song is meh.

Same, it felt a little like she was in a rut and she pulled herself from in style. I'm not massive on IDGAF, wanna see what the next era brings.

Yes, it is good to know not everyone here in the UKMix snubbed Björk
