And the moment you've all been waiting for...

1. Letters to Cleo: 4 Leaf Clover
73 points - peak position: 1 (4 weeks) - 23 weeks

And here's the surprising, completely dominant number one! Another band that wasn't very familiar to me before 2017, though I had actually heard a couple of songs by them before.

A happy rock song with female vocals. I especially like the faster parts (i.e. most of the song). It's another song that sounds like it could be from an earlier era – not a surprise, as the band was at its most popular in the 90s.

A very deserved number one. It broke many longevity records, and especially its 23-week run in the top five is difficult to beat – pretty much the only possible record it doesn't hold is most weeks at #1. It was also my most streamed song of the year on Spotify (ahead of their earlier song "Co-Pilot", which was not eligible to chart – unfortunately, as I think it's even better than this one). Sadly, not many people have discovered this song – at the moment, it has only 51,700 streams on Spotify. That's also one of the few places where the studio version is available; YouTube only has a couple of live performances (Note: This one has 48 seconds of talking before the song).

I mich prefer the second Louis song you chose by the way ;)

I enjoyed the Sky Is a Neighbourhood this year, and was glad to see Foo Fighters live for the first time,

I agree, "Back to You" is much better than "Miss You". The former was actually pretty close to #1 but faded over the week. But I like both.

"The Sky Is a Neighborhood" is a masterpiece, I can't believe it received so little attention (though I've lost count of how many times I've said that about a song ) – it did reach the top five on the UKmixPARADE, though. Sadly, I don't have many concert experiences – I like few Finnish artists, and the tickets to see internationally popular acts are often too expensive. I'm sure it was a great experience to see them. 8-)

Great to hear you liked so many of the songs! :D "Groupie Love" and "Back from the Edge" in particular are quite underrated (or just obscure?) in general.

Indeed. Probably my favorite popular song of 2017, as the top two songs don't really count as that – some gems still reach the Billboard top ten these days. 8-)
