Had never heard this song, so went and gave it a play.
Really enjoyed it! Thanks CT for a great Top40
Thanks everyone for following along and commenting. I'm so glad you all like the #1. I love the chants at the end of that video from a Bernie Sanders rally - "Fight back!" I'm sure it will be back in a couple years when I do my decade long countdown of 2010-2019 (can this decade really be that close to ending? damn.)JSparksFan wrote:I love "Despacito". I have great club memories associated with it, but, beyond that, it's just a damn catchy song.
Unsurprising #1, but surprising reasoning! I never knew that was the song's message. It makes it even more fantastic for me. It feels like a more optimistic spin on the message of my favourite song of the year.
Overall, great countdown!
I mean, those are favorites of mine too - and both of the songs you mentioned were still charting at the end of the year, so they would have charted a little higher but ran out of time. There are a couple forum favorites in that section, like Gaga and Clean Bandit. I'm appy Rockabye made the top ten in the US, but Gaga just barely made the top 40 with The Cure and I am still annoyed by this.king_oxymoron wrote:I'm afraid I'm a bit backwards and I'm much more a fan of your 20-16 segment, but we clearly still are very fond of some great pop tunes this year! Attention and Love So Soft, for example, bang.
you should! I played my top ten for my co-workers, and that #1 and Havana were the only ones that were unanimously liked.Tansike wrote:#10 - It Ain't Me - Kygo ft. Selena Gomez
#9 - Havana - Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug
#8 - Bodak Yellow - Cardi B
#6 New Rules - Dua Lipa
#5 Alone - Alan Walker
Really like these from the Top10.
Unfortunately not a fan at all of "Despacito", and shockingly i never heard your #1 I'll check it out though
