GRYBOP's Best of 2004 (#10 - #1)

Moderators: tdc2000, FreakyFlyBry

Postby Grybop » Thu Dec 09, 2004 11:18 pm

Just like last time (and every year actually), my year-end chart contains songs that may have not been released as singles; in fact some of them may have not been released within the year at all.
It merely represents the songs I loved the most during the previous 12 months and started to like within that period, or shortly before.

No polls here, just a rough list of the contenders for my top 10 of 2004 based on my personal weekly chart.
The final list will be counted down some time until the end of December.

Anastacia - Sick and tired
Benassi Bros ft. Dhany - Hit my heart
Bjork - Triumph of a heart
Bjork - Who is it (Carry my joy on the left, carry my pain on the right)
Bosson - A little more time
Deepest Blue - Give it away
Double Dee - Shining
Tiziano Ferro- Xverso
Franz Ferdinand - Take me out
Iio - Smooth (Airbase Remix)
Jamelia - Superstar
Madonna - Love profusion
George Michael - Amazing
Dannii Minogue - You Won't forget about Me (Flower Power)
Nichya - Nikomu. Nikogda
O-Zone - Dragostea din Tei
Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams (My LA ex)
Bic Runga - Get some sleep
Anjeza Shahini - Dua te behem imazhi yt
Shapeshifters - Lola's theme
Martin Solveig - I'm a good man
Stellar Project - Get up, stand up
TATU - Zaschischatsia ochkami
Anna Vissi - Treno
Whigfield - Was a time (Favretto remix)
Michael Woods - Solex (Close to the edge)

I still don't know which of these songs will make it in.

Some good songs in contention for your top 10 there! I somehow think if Bjork makes the list, she'll be your #1, I know you've raved about it that much!
Let's embrace the point of no return.

Woo!

These are the obvious ones I like:

Bjork - Who is it (Carry my joy on the left, carry my pain on the right)
Bjork - Triumph of a heart
Franz Ferdinand - Take me out
Jamelia - Superstar
Madonna - Love profusion
George Michael - Amazing
Dannii Minogue - You Won't forget about Me (Flower Power)
Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams (My LA ex)
Shapeshifters - Lola's theme
Stellar Project - Get up, stand up

And the less obvious ones:

Deepest Blue - Give it away
Double Dee - Shining (got lot of airplay here)
Tiziano Ferro- Xverso (Woo! I like this guy)
Bic Runga - Get some sleep (Brilliant)
Anjeza Shahini - Dua te behem imazhi yt (Brilliant - in English!) 8-)
Martin Solveig - I'm a good man
Michael Woods - Solex (Close to the edge)

So I'm sure we'll do well! Woo for Anjeza anyway! 8-)

OMG! - that video is brilliant, George!

Have you ever considered a career in professional editing? (seriously!)

And a massive woooo! for the tracks you've included (particularly Shapeshifters, Solex and Double Dee) - I loved all of 'em!

Regards,

LOL Cheers you 2!

I made it with Win Movie Maker and a photo editing program, so it was no big deal really. The audio and video were totally unsynchronized so I think I'll leave the editing career for some other lifetime.

Are you still interested, Maaian?

I hope the artist I'm thinking about is in the video!

Either way, it's an original concept George - I'll comment when it's 100% downloaded!

A few seconds later: BRILLIANT! 8-) 8-) 8-) Completely original and excellent concept there! I want one!

I am also impressed, and remember that Internet problem I fixed for you? - I might want the favour returning.

OK, I think it's time I kicked off.

10 Bosson - A little more time (1)
I first heard this one while still doing my service near the greek-turkish border on a Turkish radio station and instantly fell in love with it.
Singer/songwriter Bosson is from Sweden and seems to be quite successful in some European countries.
UK success still eludes him though.

9 Dannii Minogue - You won't forget about me (Flower power) (1)
One of the most highly anticipated singles of the year and in the end it was well worth the wait. It took me a while to get used to Dannii's vocals over the Flower Power instrumental, then it just kept on growing me and I still can listen to it without feeling bored. The supporting video was the of best the year for me.

That Bosson one is really good! (well, judging by the clip you had in the video). He's the same one who did "One In A Million" right?

And the Dannii/Flower Power one just grew on me loads since I first heard it, so yeah - thumbs up for that one too!

These are the ones I'd love to see from #8 to #1!

Bjork - Who is it (Carry my joy on the left, carry my pain on the right)
Deepest Blue - Give it away
Franz Ferdinand - Take me out
Madonna - Love profusion
Bic Runga - Get some sleep
Anjeza Shahini - Dua te behem imazhi yt
Shapeshifters - Lola's theme
Stellar Project - Get up, stand up

The other Bjork one isn't as good as these 8!

I'll comment on that when I get near the top...

Moving on...

8 Anastacia - Sick and tired (1)
Here's Anastacia's best offering ever IMO and a song I just can't get sick and tired of. It spent 2 weeks at #1 in my chart this autumn.

Image
7 O-Zone - Dragostea din tei (3)
A love or hate song at #7 and the only non #1 of mine to make my top 10 of the year. Its inclusion is down to it spending 9 weeks in my chart between March and July. What can I say? It's fun, catchy, incomprehensible (even when translated) and highly addictive.

Not too fussed on 'Sick & Tired' - indeed I am sick and tired of it!

That O-Zone one I don't rate much either, but I don't mind it now, compared to like, 6 months ago when I couldn't stand it!

Woo... O Zone was one of those songs I really should have hated but ended up liking. I found the video really funny.

Not a big fan of Anastacia on the whole ... I think Left Outside Alone is the only thing i've really liked from her.

and... woo for Dannii from before too! :D

6 TATU - Zachichatsya ochkami (1)

TATU in Podnebesnaya was the name of the reality show that showed TATU from behind... the scenes. A couple of songs from that show leaked in the net in raw form ie. unfinished versions or demos. Such a song is this one, at number 6, a catchy yet somewhat repetitive little number (literally; it clocks in at about 2'30'') in usual TATU style. Nothing not to like there if you're a fan. :D
