Grybop's Best of 2007 (#01)

Just like last time (and every year actually), my year-end chart contains songs that may have not been released as singles; in fact some of them may have not been released within the year at all.
It merely represents the songs I loved the most during the previous 12 months and started to like within that period, or shortly before.
Here is a draft list of the contenders for my year-end top 20 list - basically my favourite songs this year in alphabetical order by the artist.
Subject to change.

Tori Amos - Bouncing off clouds
Axwell feat. Max' C - I found U (Remode)
Battles - Atlas
Beck - Broken drum (Boards of Canada remix)
CocoRosie - Werewolf
DJ Toon - I wanna take drugs tonight
DT8 Project feat. Andrea Britton - Hold me till the end

The Feeling - Rosé
Feist - 1234 (Van She Technologic remix)
The Fray - Look after you

Nelly Furtado - All good things (come to an end)
Hellogoodbye - All of your love
Hellogoodbye - Here (In your arms)
The Hoosiers - Worried about Ray
Amy Macdonald - Poison prince
MIA - Jimmy
Nek - Instabile
Klaus Nomi - Simple man
Dolores o'Riordan - Ordinary day
Rihanna - Umbrella
Riot in Belgium - La musique

Britney Spears - Gimme more
Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson & D.O.E. - The way I are
Justin Timberlake - What goes around.../...Comes around
Frankie Valli & the Four seasons - Beggin' (Pilooski re-edit)

Laura Veirs - Don't lose yourself
Venus hum - Surgery in the sky
Patrick Wolf - Bluebells
Patrick Wolf - The magic position

Notes:
- Naturally All Good Things should not be here, as I liked it more at the end of 2006, but since I continued to like it throughout 2007, I decided to include it.
- Things are a bit tight this year, as I have to choose among songs I liked a lot for a little while and songs I liked for ages but with less passion.
- Non-#1s narrowly missing this list:

Air - Napalm love
James Blunt - 1973
Maroon 5 - Makes me wonder
Al Roy - Eisai gia ton outso NiVo
Take That - Shine
Travis - Closer

Already liking the shape of this chart! 8-) Well, I don't like 3 songs in that list, but never mind!

Loving your list, George!

(though I'm stunned no Radiohead, or at least not yet!)

Only just checked the Beck one out and really like the chilled out sound.

Massive woo for Klaus Nomi, he was an incredible artiste. I love Simple Man.

I remember hearing some cool new music from your chart last year and look forward to doing the same again. I haven't heard a lot of those tunes. :D

I like about 10 songs from that list, but I would like to see DT8 Project top the chart this year out of the songs listed there. :)

I think the #1 will be *thinks* why not - Umbrella!

And I liked the video's ending - that chime bit in 'The Magic Position'.

Ummm...I disagree. It was released as a 10 track CD single which was fantastic value...but of course, this made sales of the CD chart ineligible.

I can't remember the last time I bought a UK issued CD single with so many mixes on.

Will watch the video presentation at home later....

That video is amazing, really great production on there and I liked a lot of the songs, some T hadn't known sounded fantastic as well, so hopefully there'll be a few discoveries for me this year a la White Rose Movement. :D

Can't wait to start reading this. :D

Discopolis by Lifelike and Kris Menace had nine mixes but still charted!

I want to comment when you do your list.

(Forgive the bad formatting of the above snippets from the OCC Chart Rules)

Any format, whether physical or a digital bundle, that runs to over 40 minutes can not count for the chart.

These tracks can, of course, chart on the basis of individual track downloads, or other qualifying physical formats (if they exist). However, neither DT8 Project or the Discopolis track you named managed to make the Top 75. I'd imagine the majority of their sales would have been for the chart ineligible formats.

(I really don't think "Hold Me Til The End" comes in at under 40 minutes, because not all the tracks are edits)

Woo, thanks for your kind words!
you have my most favourite and my most hated songs there
Yeah, I noticed! Funny eh?
I'm actually put off now - I won't make a video this year! What program did you use for that?
You should be inspired, not put off! I used ULead VideoStudio 10 and the whole thing took me about 5-6 hours to make in all (audio and video).
George, is that a better sounding/ proper version of DJ Toon?
No, it's the same file, I just played with the equalizer a bit so that it doesn't sound like shit among the rest of the songs.

I have 4-5 songs on my mind any one of which could be at the top of the chart, but the problem is that none of them actually *feel* like a year-end #1 to me, if you know what I mean. Oh well.

Oh, and who's indrekturu? Jon?
