TV ads have started and it actually looks scary - scarier than anything I've seen in a looong time

I love how people think this is just going to be a cheap shock horror movie but if you actually watch the trailers there seems to be genuine scary parts. Cannot wait!

They made Pennywise so comic-book. Not remotely scary.

So I went and saw "Annabelle: Creation" (should've waited for dvd) and they showed the paper boat scene with a short intro from King.
I must say that I'm glad they've held back on Pennywise as long as they have because from this short glimpse Skarsgard looks to be taking it in a very malevolent and dark direction from the wise cracking Tim Curry version and I think we could be in for something very special.
I've stopped watching trailers etc because I want to be as surprised as I can when I sit down to see the film.
Happy endings are just stories that haven't finished yet...

The boat scene is great. Bill as Pennywise works better than Tim Curry, he actually seems like there is something past the clown . . . not just a creepy clown. This film is gonna be great!!!!

FFS. The voice of Pennywise is not scary at all, really disappointed.

If you had read the book you would know his voice isn't supposed to be scary.

So why would you expect his voice to be scary? it isn't in the book . . . he's trying to lure the kids in and play with them.

Tim Curry didn't try to be scary, but his voice was still so creepy (perfect for a horror film). Whereas this guy seems to be trying too hard to sound like a friendly but creepy clown, but doesn't have the same effect as Curry.

I watched an extended clip of the boat scene and I'm getting used to the voice now.

I don't get the love for Curry. His performance was nothing to write home about. He just seemed like a real man playing a clown.

Skarsgard actually seems like what Pennywise is meant to be, something pretending to be a man being a clown.

But there was nothing behind it. Anyone can just pretend to be a clown.

Just got back from this. Great film, Bill Skarsgard and the kids did a great job. Only negative is the way they under-utilised the bullies at the end.
