We have and no major plot lines are given away. But you know the old internet saying... if it’s released it’s up for discussion.

But I’ve added spoiler tags where necesssary and updated the thread title with a spoiler notice.

Sorry if I spoiled anything. When something is released I don’t even go into a thread unless I’ve seen it.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Skyrockets To $230M Overseas, $450M Global Bow – International Box Office

Refresh for latest…: Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi showed its force at the international box office with $230M in its opening this weekend. Combined with domestic, that puts the global launch at $450M. The worldwide figure ranks The Last Jedi as the No. 5 debut ever (No. 3 excluding the China starts of other films — SWTLJ does not go to the Middle Kingdom until January 5). Out of 54 overseas markets, the film written and directed by Rian Johnson, is the best start of 2017 in several majors including the UK which leads with $36.7M.

Episode VIII opened to No. 1 in all but four offshore markets and the $230M start puts Rey, Finn, Poe and the far away galaxy gang in line with pre-opening industry expectations. The consensus among sources is that this very well-reviewed film will benefit from repeat viewings and a slower burn than its predecessor, The Force Awakens.

That doesn’t shock me. I loved it though, but do feel like it lacked storyline. It’s definitely not the movie people - myself included - expected.

I thought it was great, though it wasn't overly original in places, at times it reminded me of other sci-fi films/shows (though love the shows it reminded me of)

The opening sequence was a big stand out and I enjoyed the Luke/Rey scenes, and of course the tormented Kylo Ren

But killing off Snoke when we knew hardly anything about them was odd and what about the space walk and the reaction of everyone else to it????? (or should I say non-reaction)

I am a big Star Wars fan and find it totally daft people are signing a petition to get the film remade, just because it's not what they expected, and that certain questions weren't answered (there is ep 9 to follow!! They aren't going to reveal everything now are they??)

I genuinely don’t believe that episode 9 will end the story - I believe they will absolutely keep it going by ending IX on a cliff hanger, which is why I think Episode VIII isn’t as comprehensive as I think people thought it would be (myself included).

The other thought is that Disney have opened up this world to so many possibilities with this movie in terms of spin offs - they can explore Luke’s banishment in novel form (just because he says he was in banishment doesn’t mean he was...), they could explore Snoke via a comic book series, and this whole business about what happened to Luke’s Jedi boot camp can be explore more now via other mediums.

Finally saw this the other day. People are complaining about this? I thought this was a stronger film than The Force Awakens and I loved that entry. This one is a bit long; I felt like there was an unnecessary false end but it's very entertaining.

I was entertained by this but I can see why people hated it.

We did not get a big reunion between Luke and Lea.

I liked Rose, but her big story with Finn was not that thrilling.

Poe was annoying.

Chewbacca and R2D2 were hardly used.

I'm not a fan of Carrie Fisher. She ruined her life and ruined Leia for me in the movies. Gone was Leia's spunk.

I liked Kylo and Rey working together.

Benicio del Toro as DJ was annoying.

To me this was even worse than the prequels. Rian Johnson took a steaming dump on the Star Wars franchise, Luke and Leia were both wasted in this.

I was forced to watch this two weeks or so ago and I honestly didn’t think it was as bad as the previous movie. Still pretty bad, but not as bad. At least with this one I kinda got what was going on.

I'm still honestly surprised so many people dislike this movie.

Where to begin?

Luke being ruined because Rian Johnson is in the "we hate the past" mentality and being written in a way that pissed Mark Hamill off.
Rose being the comic book girl who decided to write herself into fan-fiction
Finn having one moment of actual purpose in this franchise and getting it ruined by Rose
Them basically screwing everything up, they had a year of build-up knowing Carrie Fisher had died and not finding a good way to reshoot/write Leia out while continuing to kill off Luke.
The useless casino planet storyline that is ultimately useless to the entire plot and drags out the screentime

Not only that, but Luke's ending was so anticlimatic that I don't even think Hamill knew it was coming given his reaction after seeing the finished product. Han's death was sad, it was emotional, it added more reason to hate Kylo/Ben. Luke's death was Rian's "we need to get the old characters out of the way to make room for the new characters nobody likes".

I wouldn't say TFA was the best SW movie ever (hello Empire) but I do somewhat agree. It was very trendy to hate TFA for awhile, but to be honest that died out once TLJ came out and people began to actually miss the prequels in comparison to how bad Last Jedi was.

People hated TFA for being fan service, whereas TLJ is trying to alienate everyone who actually liked Star Wars before 2015.

One of my favourite things about TFA was Finn and Rey's scenes together, in this film they don't meet until right at the end, that was a big disappointment, though I did like Rey's scenes with miserable Luke

I agree the casino plot is just pointless as the whole plan doesn't work, it's almost as if they were trying to find Finn something to do in the film, and when Rose intervened in his suicide attack I still find that really confusing as by doing that the First Order could continue their attack, if they hadn't managed to get out the back door, Rose's decision would have led to everyone being killed :-?

I was surprised Leia wasn't killed off, the moment they blew up the bridge should have been the end, instead we get that bizarre flying scene which is just one of the most weirdest moments ever in Star Wars

Still I liked the film as was very entertaining but had some baffling moments

The flying scene is possibly my favourite moment in the entire Star Wars franchise. As this is her swan song, I loved seeing Leia say a big FU to death. It felt very Carrie Fisher.

My only niggle with the entire movie is that it seems to be set over 1 or 2 days for some characters, and weeks for others - if Episode 9 is the last in this trilogy for these characters, I have no idea how they’re going to come out on top - the rebels are down to like 5 people, 3 droids and a Wookie. How are they supposed to stop the First Order?

I don’t feel like this progressed or developed the storyline for the trilogy hugely, but I did love it. I like how for once it felt very much like a war movie. I also liked how Carrie’s daughter had a bigger role - I would love for her to come into her own in the next movie.

I did not really like the flying scene, it was very strange

On the other hand I liked the casino setting
