Get Out [2017]

Postby Hugo » Wed Jan 25, 2017 8:39 pm

In Universal Pictures’ Get Out, a speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele, when a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomes ensnared in a more sinister real reason for the invitation.

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams, Girls), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener, Captain Phillips) and Dean (Bradley Whitford, The Cabin in the Woods).

At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.

Equal parts gripping thriller and provocative commentary, Get Out is written and directed by Peele (Key and Peele) and produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, as well as Sean McKittrick (Donnie Darko, The Box), Peele and Edward H. Hamm Jr. (The Box, Bad Words). The film also stars Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men series), Milton “Lil Rel” Howery (The Carmichael Show), Betty Gabriel (The Purge: Election Year), Marcus Henderson (Pete’s Dragon) and Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton).

Looks weird but intriguing! Good to see Marnie from Girls in another role and the male lead is really familiar to me too from somewhere.

Box-Office Preview: Jordan Peele's 'Get Out' to Impress With Possible $20M U.S. Debut

Look for Universal and Jason Blum to score another win at the box office this weekend with the microbudgeted Get Out, a thriller and social commentary on race relations that marks the feature directorial debut of Jordan Peele (Key & Peele).

Prerelease tracking suggests the film, which cost under $5 million to make, could approach or cross $20 million in its debut. Universal is being more cautious and suggesting high-teen millions. Get Out, which premiered in a secret midnight screening at the Sundance Film Festival in January, is getting a berth in 2,777 theaters.

Peele's film — boasting a rare 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes — hopes to steal the crown from holdover The Lego Batman Movie, which enters its third weekend.

The film's HUGE

Despite “Logan’s” dominance, Blumhouse and Universal’s “Get Out” keeps going strong. The low-budget thriller racked up $26.1 million, bringing its domestic haul to $75.9 million. That’s an impressive return for a film that cost less than $5 million to make.

Finally watched this, loved it! I didn't trust her one bit, she was a stone cold psycho as well. Good to see the victim wreak revenge and escape for once in a horror too.

Originally he was gonna be arrested for the murders by the same police officer who pulled them over. But after all the racial profiling in America lately, it was given a happy ending.
