There were two movies that seems to get the most buzz from their world premieres at this year’s SXSW. One was Sony’s Baby Driver, Edgar Wright’s music-filled take on the action movie which went on to become a box office hit and is nearing $100 million globally. The other was a work-in-progress screening of The Disaster Artist, New Line’s comic movie about the making of one of the best worst movies ever.

A24 soon after come aboard to release the pic, and has unveiled the teaser trailer today.

The movie, which has a December 1 release date, is directed by James Franco and stars Franco as Tommy Wiseau, the writer, director and star of The Room, called “the Citizen Kane of bad movies.” The cult classic has been screening to sold-out audiences nationwide for more than a decade. The Disaster Artist is based on the original film’s co-star Greg Sestero’s tell-all The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made.

Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Ari Graynor, Alison Brie, Jacki Weaver and Josh Hutcherson co-star.

Check out the first-look teaser above.

The trailer got me so pumped for this.
Just got the book this movie was based on but I have to watch "The Room" in full before I read it. I've only seen the key scenes on Youtube until now.

To be fair... watching The Room at home is mildly amusing at best... it's a poorly written/acted movie that teeters on soft porn. But with an audience, even the most boring scene of the movie is fun. It's a movie you need to see in the theater with an audience, I've been several times and it's always entertaining.

I knew the SJW's would prevent this because look at the hell Casey Affleck got for winning last year... since obviously we can't separate the art from the performer.... never mind the fact that Roman Polanski and Woody Allen have both directed movies that have won Oscars even after their child molestation accusations (Polanski literally cannot step foot in the US because he will get arrested and brought to trial if he does) but oh god no.... Franco busted his ass for a movie and gave an amazing performance but can't even be nominated because keyboard warriors will complain because of personal issues regarding him.

James Franco was brilliant in it. As for the snub, it's Hollywood hypocrisy at its best.
