While Ridley Scott is currently doing press for Prometheus, rumours have erupted about his other return to Sci–Fi, a Blade Runner remake. But, Ridley has quelled those rumours, telling his fans it‘s not so much a remake as it is a sequel.
The involvement of original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher is also excitingly confirmed, but don‘t think that means he‘s writing the sequel. The press release states tentatively that he‘s on board to ‘develop the idea of the original screenplay‘ for the new film.
What‘s the new movie going to be about? Well, no one actually knows yet, but in an interview with The Daily Beast Scott bounced the idea of a central female character around.
"I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And we‘ll definitely be featuring a female protagonist."
We also know that the new movie will be set some years after the first film, but whether or not Harrison Ford will return is yet to be seen.
boo just flat screen, plasmaHarrison Ford wrote:I'm quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it's a good script I would be anxious to work with Ridley Scott again, he's a very talented and passionate filmmaker. And I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character."
Maybe I spoke too soon?oasisbobo wrote:I'm just pleased Harrison Ford will have another box office hit!
