I think new Mariah will sell less than new Shania.

Will certainly be a very interesting year if the big 3 females all release.

Mariah needs a great comeback strategy and a fantastic lead-single. With the Stella controversy and all, I smell a Oprah Special: Tell all - My life with Satan

SONY will bring back this "Return of the Voice" campaign

If they milk the past 2-3 years right, I can see it working out for Mariah.

Tell me about it. One half ok performance and Mariah back on top  . Of the music is as lacklustre as her last 3 albums nothing will come of it.

Since when were Celine, Mariah and Madonna the big 3? Did I miss something? They didn’t even peak in the same decades.

chartsmasters :: Mariah's last 3 albums were

2014 - 300,000 WW - Me. I am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse
#15 - 2x platinum - #Beauiful
#88 - uncertified - You're Mine (Eternal)

2010 - 850,000 WW - 1x Gold - Merry Christmas II You
#100 - uncertified - Oh! Santa

2009 - 1,050,000 WW - 1x Gold - Memoirs of an imperfect Angel
#7 - 1x platinum - Obsessed
#60 - uncertified - I want to know what Love Is
#100 - uncertified - Up Out My Face

This looks fine to me in order to total eras. 1 million albums certified + 3 million singles certified.

In terms of singles charts, every notable rock band has been a flop since 2015. Albums and tours somehow keep them financially afloat

apart from the odd 100k UK gold cert... rock bands do worse than female R&B singers.

Kings of Leon and Killers were smeared with poo by letting their albums tank like that. For that alone I hope pop girls fail for the rest of eternity.

Living for STEVYY right now.

Mariah's studio album will be her first in for years... IFFFFF she releases this year. But she's been doing music collaborations and always on the spotlight, people don't really miss her.

They had two decent songs, which they rode on the coattails of and that’s it. Same with the likes of Snow Patrol.

I think the industry itself is the reason why Kings are not as big. Pop and Hip Hop are dominating.

Maybe the newer generation Rock bands are the ones struggling.

But the old Rock bands such as Metallica, U2, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Res Hot chili peppers or Guns N Roses are outselling most of the divas with ease and with half-assed albums  and they're also outgrossing the sh*t out of the Pop divas as well with their tours (except for Taylor)
Britney Spears . Michael Jackson . Madonna . Metallica . Radiohead . Led Zeppelin . Oasis . Beyoncé . Soda Stereo

^ Not really a fair comparison though.

Historically, the big 3 female touring acts are Tina Turner, Madonna & Celine Dion - Tina is no longer active, Madonna is on hiatus, Celine only does part-time touring.

Further, rock fans consume music differently to pop fans.

A very important thing that gets glossed over all the time - fans of different genres consume music in different ways.

Who said that?

Cher's tours have grossed hundreds of millions of dollars. Why are you always underestimating her?

^ What on earth are you talking about? I used Tina as she has sold more concert tickets than any other female artist (and she’s grossed as much as Cher anyway) and I used Madonna and Celine as they are billion dollar acts (not million) - these three women are or were touring machines.

Not discrediting Cher, she is also a very successful touring artist.
