APPLE MUSIC REVEALS TOP 20 WOMEN IN STREAMING

Who run the world? In honor of International Women’s Day, Apple Music has revealed the top 20 women in streaming, celebrating some of the most successful queens of the music game.

Rihanna reigns supreme, topping the impressive list of artists. Taylor Swift comes in second place, just in front of Beyoncé. These stats are particularly impressive since Bad Gal, T-Swift, and Queen Bey have all excluded their music from Apple at one point or another.

The top 10 continues with Ariana Grande, Adele, Sia, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, SZA, and Lady Gaga. Further down the list are Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Halsey, Demi Lovato, and Fifth Harmony, before getting to Pink, Kehlani, Mariah Carey, Little Mix, and Miley Cyrus.

As part of the celebration, Apple Music has launched three playlists, including Essential Feminism, Who Runs the World, and Bold Women. The playlists highlight works by influential artists, including Nina Simone and Dolly Parton, and rising stars like Alessia Cara and Princess Nokia.

To keep this empowerment train running, Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga will host four weekly live shows about gender, sexuality, and more, starting today and airing Thursdays throughout March on Beats 1.

I’d say Little Mix are a bigger surprise considering Apple Music’s dominance in the US. Or maybe Fifth Harmony considering how much their last album bombed.

Surprised Ariana isn’t #1 and that Camila Cabello is nowhere to be seen.

Everything she's released over the last 5 years basically flopped.

If we accept this to be true, that says a heck of a lot about the other women in the industry. Yikes.

28 years later and Mariah is still up there with recent singers. That’s an incredible achievement! But some people obviously don’t want to see that - so much hate, so much bitterness.

I‘m sorry but these comments irk the shhh out of me.
So after 28 years being one of the most successful female artists you‘re not allowed to flop or what?? And you make it seem like she released 2 studio albums and 8 singles in the last 5 years. Her last studio album was released 5 years ago and the first single, btw, did pretty good booboo. And not to forget she‘s having a hit single at least once a year eveeeeeery year - not everybody has that but of course that doesn’t count as well.
You basically flop.

A hit a year? Her last song to be considered any kind of hit was in 2012.

^^I'm pretty sure they were only referring to her entry inside the top 20 mostly because of her old catalog instead of the new ones...

AIWFCIY.

And she didn’t had „any kind of hit“ in 2012, what would that be? Triumphant? Beautiful was released in 2013. i don’t know what you are talking about and clearly you don’t know either.

oMG - so what??? that’s not the point at all. She is the only woman up there who’s in the business almost 3 decades - „old“ or „new“ catalogue
