This years highest climber is cheapthrills. Last year, he was a newbie, but now with 18 months on the forum, he has blended in nicely, often taking part in games and discussions across the entire board. He runs his tournament in the Games section and recently hosted a very creative food themed survivor. He is also in fictitious relationships with other forum members.
(10) 19. Biebz [131 points]
One of Biebz' most famous moments of 2017 was hosting an extremely popular edition of the 'Top Answer Game'. Had he continued posting on the forum for the duration of the year, he would have surely bettered his position. However, he disappeared for a few months for reasons we all know. He appears to be back now though as UKMIX is obviously the only place to be. Unlike before where he was a staple in The Lounge, he now spends more time in the different Charts forums.
(13) 18. ArmyOfMe [141 points]
ArmyOfMe has had a busy 2017, meaning he doesn't post as much as he used to, but he maintains his top 20 position. He's met several UKMIX members over the past year, all of whom gave him good reviews. He's one of the biggest Drag Race fans on the forum, and is continually spilling tea in those threads.
(8) 17. ThaInfo1 [145 points]
With over 20,000 posts to his name, ThaInfo1 has previously been named the forum's funniest member on more than one occasion. Last year, he showed his human side when he told us of his positive experiences using dating apps. However, it always comes down to the music, and he continues to post in a magnitude of different threads, mostly in the Pop and R&B forums. He saw Janet Jackson live in December.
(44) 16. MusicRecords [146 points]
It was a controversial year for this member. He started the year off by getting banned, something which continued in the 12 months which followed. Despite being known for spamming the forums in order to increase post count and thread popularity, he provided us with the very popular 'Interviews' thread and is looking for more ideas to strengthen the UKMIX family. He is not afraid to say what is on his mind, which makes him one of the most polarising members of the forum - not that I'd know what that feels like...
In just 2 years, Nippian has amassed almost 32,000 posts and is the #25 poster on the site, thanks to an average of 43 posts per day (and roughly 300 per week). Many of these posts are news/chart updates taken from Twitter. He is a huge fan of Whitney Houston and his interests are 'Everything Whitney'. He's the first member to fall from last year's top 5, although it may be worth mentioning that last year's runner-up received 0 this year.
(54) 14. heppolo [183 points]
Another user who is posting up to 300 times a week lately is heppelo. As his activity has increased so dramatically recently, it's no surprise to see him climb the countdown. In fact, 3 people put him at #1. heppelo enjoys bumping old topics and having a general moan about pop/R&B. He prefers alternative.
(20) 13. DOSSOME [188 points]
DOSSOME may be our only active member who resides in Nairobi, Kenya? His presence on the forum fluctuated in 2017, but he still manages to climb this year, a lot of which is down to his extraordinary music taste and general friendliness. He loves R&B icons, such as Prince, Janet and Mariah, but is also open to listening to a lot of music outside his normal lane.
(41) 12. Thriller [221 points]
After ranking at an embarrassing #41 for the past 2 years, Thriller races up the chart. He may not be #1 on the countdown, but he is #1 in terms of posts, almost 70,000!. These posts can be found in all areas of the forum - The Lounge, Games, Charts, Music - he's active across the board. Despite being a global moderator, he always comes across as friendly and fun.
(43) 11. Goldmoneys [225 points]
Tha Good Sis Goldmoneys ascends to a new peak this year, just outside the top 10. This was aided by 3 #1 rankings. He is not afraid to express how he feels, especially when it comes to music he doesn't like, and is developing a no-nonsense attitude. However, his sweet side shows when he talks about his love for Hey Arnold!
Gravity becomes our highest ranking female this year, just breaking into the top 10. She's only been on the site for 2 years, but has obviously made a big impression in that time, be it down to her awesome taste in music, her participation in games, or her daily interactions discussing anything from celebrity scandal to favourite food.
(65) 9. Benjamin [229 points]
It may seem surprising that Benajamin, our #2 poster with almost 60,000 posts, was way down at #65 last year. But it was in 2017 that he really started posting more in 'The Lounge' forum and interacting with members outside of music chat. Of course, he still loves to talk music and is a fan of a variety of artists (he had a top 100 artists personal chart which I lost track of, link me pls), but he's also everywhere else these days, from Celebrity Gossip to Games. But he is perhaps most famous for his photos in the 'Photo Gallery' thread!
(12) 8. Mainshow [230 points]
Our Eurovision superfan is Mainshow. His dedication to the ESC is admirable, and he is to thank for creating and updating the Eurovision threads (I believe he's already created one for 2019!) Outside Eurovision, he's a big fan of German artists and several pop stars, but his fave is Britney Spears. Mainshow also likes to take part in news discussions, so he's pretty much active across the entire forum and is often praised for his kindness.
(24) 7. trebor [244 points]
A huge year for trebor in 2017. He quickly became one of the most prominent and popular members on the forum, owing to his participation in games, input on chart analysis, his unorthodox taste in music and his willingness to listen to new music. He is a big fan of country and folk music, so it made sense that he would be promoted to Moderator status in order to manage that forum, as well as a number of other forums, including the ever-demanding Chart Analysis, for which he has been implementing some fantastic updates lately. Because of his open mind when it comes to music, as well as his friendly manner, he was voted for by a diverse range of members, from R&B fans to the alternative crowd.
(3) 6. Tansike [252 points]
After finishing in 3rd place for the past 2 years, Tansike dips to #6 this year. In 2017, he crossed the 40,000 post barrier. A lot of these posts come from Chart Analysis, where he is one of the most active and hard-working members when it comes to providing information and analysis. However, he works just as hard when it comes to hosting and participating in Games and Personal Charts. He likes a lot of artists, with Nightwish being one of his particular faves. Again, he was voted for by a diverse bunch, including 'Lounge' regulars and 'Chart' enthusiasts.
Straight into the top 5, I'm sure leomedar himself will be the only one surprised by this. For the rest of us, it was inevitable. leomedar has been on the forum for a few years, mostly competing in games and personal charts, with a very wide and diverse taste in music. He's hosted a number of games, but in 2017, he took it one step further. Since the end of June, he has been providing us with the weekly UKMIX Top 100, which ranks the most popular threads of the week. It sounds straightforward, but the amount of detailed information he shares is astounding, and it has become one of the most popular threads here, as has its host. Outside this thread, he continues to explore music with others and has never been caught up in conflict, which shows his kind nature.
(22) 4. JSparksFan [267 points]
JSparks fan has had an interesting chart run. In the years 2012 and 2013, he was voted as the #1 member. However, last year, he fell out of the top 20 for the first time in years. This years, he's back in the top 5, much more where he is used to. In his 8th year on the forum, Akini became a moderator last year, which was welcomed by all and what many saw as a long time coming owing to his friendliness and level head. In fact, Akini has often won awards such as 'Friendliest Member' in the past. He is active across the forum, but particularly in Personal Charts, where he hosts his own popular chart, but also comments on so many others. Last year, he counted down his favourite Madonna songs in what was an extremely popular chart. After some decreased activity over the past couple of years, it looks like he is back to posting full-time, and that reflects his position this year.
Reaching a new peak this year, Carbon. He has been a little less active over the past few months, mostly thanks to travelling. In fact, he's met quite a few UKMIXERs, so is popular on and off the forum. Carbon posts across the forum, and took over the 'Album Cup' which he hosted very well. One reason he is so popular is because of his diverse taste in music. He is a fan of several artists but his faves are Ashanti and Jessie J. He's open to listening to an array of new music and he keeps everybody entertained in 'The Lounge'. He is very witty and is not afraid to throw some shade, but at the same time, he never gets involved in beef and is a very friendly member.
(17) 2. Wayne [336 points] Let's get the statistics out of the way first. There were just 3 points between the top 2 this year, maybe the closest it has ever been? Wayne received 30 votes - more than any other member (biscuits The Diva got 25). His average score was 11.2, and 4 people put him top 3. This is where the crucial element lies because 10 people put biscuits in their top 3 - more than ever, every point mattered!
2017 was huge for Wayne. He became an administrator on UKMIX and quickly began to implement long-awaited and highly anticipated changes on the forum. Thanks mostly to Wayne, we got new forums, we got new moderators, we got Twitter embedding, we got new post features such as alignment and spoilers, and there are more changes still to come in 2018.
He also contributed massively in terms of posting. He created hundreds of topics throughout the year, mostly in 'News' forums. One of his thread highlights was the new 'UKMIX Top Weekly Posters' chart, which he clearly works very hard on and is always on hand to provide people with their stats.
He's taken on new games and is active in all forums. More than anything else, his attitude has transformed, and he is nice to everyone!
After over a decade on the forum, he deservedly reaches a new peak on the countdown and I'm sure there are many people who see him as the true winner on UKMIX 2017.
