NEW RELEASES: TORY PARTY

Tory Lanez will have the top debut on next week’s Top 50 chart. Fittingly for the week after the Oscars, we may see a battle for #1 between two movie-inspired sets—Black Panther and The Greatest Showman.

Strong streaming continues to drive Panther, while Showman is widely expected to see a sizable lift following the awards ceremony tomorrow night. “This Is Me,” from the P.T. Barnum-based musical, is nominated for Best Original Song and will be performed on the show.

Tory Lanez (Mad Love/Interscope) 40-45k total activity, 10-15k album
Tech N9ne (Strange Music) 17-23k, 12-16k

It's a joke for a year and a half album to be #1 because of a ticket bundle... but it's no more a joke than an album being #1 when it sold 2000 copies because there's one really popular song on it while people are only streaming that one song.

NEW RELEASES: ATTACK OF THE SEQUELS

Logic's Bobby Tarantino II should land at #1 on next Friday's chart; streams will make up nearly 75% of its total. Streams may account for an even larger share of Lil Yachty's Lil Boat 2. The opposite is true for two classic-rock debuts, Jimi Hendrix and Judas Priest, both of which will collect almost all of their totals from traditional album sales.

Logic (Def Jam) 110-125k total activity, 27-32k album
Lil Yachty (Quality Control/Motown/Capitol) 60-70k, 8-10k album
Jimi Hendrix (Legacy) 29-34k, 28-32k
Judas Priest (Epic) 27-32k, 26-31k
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (Stax/Concord) 27-32k, 25-30k
Three Days Grace (RCA) 14-17k, 13-15k

Expecting for Judas priest final numbers

Reedemer of souls have sold over 100 k and debuted with 33 k
If firepower does a 100 k I'll be satisfied this new album truly deserves it
But that's the way I like it baby I don't want to live forever
and don't forget the joker

YOUR TOP 20: LOGIC PREVAILS

Logic will debut at #1 this week with his new mixtape, Bobby Tarantino II. Both Logic and the latest from Lil Yachty will see the majority of their totals come from streaming. Old-school retail still drives rock, however, with both Judas Priest and Jimi Hendrix each collecting over 95% of their totals from CD and vinyl sales. David Byrne appears headed to the Top 5 on the strength of a ticket bundle, which will make up most of his debut week.

Really impressed to see such a high peak even with SPS for Byrne. His first top 10 album ever... Talking Heads had a lot of platinum albums but never went higher than #15. Glad to see him make it to #4 even with SPS in stone literally to ensure artists like him don't place higher on the charts because lame 12 year olds don't listen to his work.

YOUR TOP 20 IS RATED XXX

XXXtentacion lands atop our Top 50 chart this week with a total made of nearly 85% SEA. Apart from XXX, Triple Tigers' Nashville veteran and Idol alumnus Scotty McCreery scores the only other debut in the Top 10.

Good to see Scotty is still doing well.
Great for Metallica but has the ticket bundle officially manipulated the Sales chart?

Might be the main way older acts can grab top chart positions in this SPS era, but it guarantees any act with a big audience will generate a #1.

NEW RELEASES: WHITE SHOULD REACH #1

Third Man/Columbia’s Jack White is due to take the #1 spot on our next Top 50 chart, barring—as we are now perpetually obliged to note—any big surprise drops. White’s highly experimental Boarding House Reach will make most of its total from a ticket bundle and D2C sales. Here’s what we know based on early reads.

Jack White (Third Man/Columbia) 115-125k total activity, 110-120k album
Toni Braxton (Def Jam) 13-18k, 9-13k
Jordan Davis (MCA Nashville) 10-15k, 7-11k
George Ezra (Columbia) 7-11k, 5-8k
