Nope, he's also not a TIDAL artist so I guess we can trust the figures that are reported.

I'm not "Bey fans", I'm just one person, I'm sorry I have to explain that to you yet again, unfortunate. Did TIDAL send out fake supplies to Puerto Rico after the hurricane? How can one service be fake? Does it provide fake songs, videos...? This is why I can't stand teenagers.

Anyway, I was talking about pure sales here (to which these bundles contribute to), obviously I don't care about any streaming numbers, which can be inflated by any service.

I have the pettiest stans, but look at them neatly lined-up. :)

his last album did 180k or something when he actually had a hit single there
i don't think 200k+ is possible because TGAG didn't do half of what SWM did

Sam Smith will score his first U.S. #1 album as his sophomore release, The Thrill of It All, is projected to debut on top of our SPS and album charts next Friday. Based on early reads, here's where Sam and a few other key debuts seem to be headed.

Sam Smith (Capitol) 195-205k SPS, 165-175k album
Maroon 5 (222/Interscope) 95-115k, 80-85k
Kelsea Ballerini (Black River) 33-38k, 29-32k
Grace VanderWaal (Columbia) 21-26

That's very good?

Much better than I was expecting.

On the contrary, it looks like it will be his UK numbers that disappoint.

He has tour bundles in the US and Canada.
M5 numbers are shocking (they have tour bundles too).

It's getting increasingly hard to predict these albums. Obviously there's no way he'd sell that much with a rehash album with no hit singles. Another album that'll disappear from the top 20 in no time that gets nonetheless some pretty numbers for wikipedia.

I don't think scrutiny is a bad thing - this is chart analysis after all.

I tease Hugo because I know he dislikes the bundles thing but ultimately, his POV is a fair one.

His POV is that everyone are flops, except Queen Bee.

Watch him change his POV when she jumps on the bandwagon & offers tour bundless with her next album. 8-)

So my prediction was right, he'll probably debut on the 200k streak.

As was pointed here, Maroon 5 also had bundles but they didn't grant anything to them. Bundles are a legal and successful way to naturally boost albums sales without having them schemed.

bundle is legal scheme, just like radio deal. it's not a natural boost at all. lol
there''re some talk in the industry with it's unnatural boost right now.
we might see some changes in 2018.

both sam and marron5 has bundle.
sam has 32 US, 5 canada and maroon 5 has 33 US, 1 canana.
they both will have similar bundle sales. +100~150k.
their numbers will go up obviously just like other recent big bundles.

Adele set the bar, only one song on streaming, no ticket bundle and did over 3 million.
Next will be Swift, she will easily sell over a million.

No, that's not my point of view. Beyoncé isn't even the best selling artist in the world and that matters little.

What I find fascinating is how some are able to make predictions when stuff like ticket bundles are included, that don't reflect at all an act's album-selling power but their ability to attract people to live shows, which can be an entirely different kind of audience, ask U2 or Madonna for example.

These numbers will forever be inflated and they're as deceitful as the "equivalent units" formula that puts free streaming (which should've always had a different chart just for it) on the same level as copies that cost upwards of $10.

Still, I'm not surprised to find people unable to have this kind of discussion, all that matters to some of you are the pretty numbers.

lol at the person that posted ticket bundles are a "natural" way to increase album sales
I am actually amazed at billboard allowing this scheme for so long

Bundles mean people actually redeem themselves the album they've payed for. They are not free passes to huge selling debuts or successful numbers. Look at Maroon 5 and several other acts who still struggled with this strategy. Therefore, what's so mystic about this? The only amusing thing here it's the comparison made with radio deals.

Ticket bundles = it's the people who go there and redeem the album they payed for in their own will.

radio deals = industry politics that shove songs down your throat whether you want it or not.

and maroon 5 would struggle to hit 50k without bundle.
so it is huge bump.

people bought the ticket, not album. that's the fact afterall.
for most people, probably 99%, they jusy bought ticket to see the artist, not new albu..
for them album is nothing but just free. just like many bundle is refered and promoted as free gift.

also there's reason why "option" didn't work well pre redeem era.
(if you know the bubdle history)

it'a funny that the way you describe radio deal is same as ticket bundle. no option for peoole to get ticket only. but forced to pay hidden album price.

Can't wait to see which numbers Taylor Swift will pull (especially if there's a bundle on the way). To think she can actually outsell the entire TOP 200 of the Billboard Chart is just shocking. :o

I think If she wants bundle, she should do like metallica, bundle later.
she can have massive sales early, then another big revenue from bundle few months later.

awfully hard to predict, i see her anywhere between 800k to 1500k, depends on alot of factors, but lets say 1100k. no way her team is gonna let it debut with less than a million, they have some tricks up their sleeve for sure.
