Goodbye Hanboo - UKMIX Chart Analysis Legend

Moderators: trebor, kingofskiffle, nympho

Postby Wayne » Fri Aug 22, 2014 9:07 am

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to one of UKMIX's most valued and valuable contributors.

If you have ever browsed Chart Analysis at UKMIX, if you've ever asked a question to one of the many Chart Analysis posters or if you've simply read a Chart Analysis comment in a non-Chart Analysis topic, it is highly likely that you have at some point read something that Hanboo contributed to the site.

His Chart Histories topic was the first ever topic at UKMIX to exceed 1,000,000 views - that is an incredible achievement and Hanboo himself was ever the gentleman, dealing with literally thousands of requests over the years. That one topic is the UKMIX Chart Analysis bible, and its publisher was one of our very best posters.

RIP Hanboo, UKMIX will be a lesser site without you.

I last heard from Han on 21/07/14, he told me he was very ill but I had no idea how serious it was. This is really sad news, he will be greatly missed.

Hanboo passed away 22 July this year after a short illness.
Having been his closest colleague for the last 9 years I miss him dearly, no more music talk.
Never met a guy with more musical knowledge then Hanboo, he'll be missed very much.
One of UKMIX's most valued members and a longtime contributor - he will be missed.
Thanks for letting us know Wayne.

RIP Hanboo. I'm genuinely sad to read this.

What a miserable summer. I've only had my gran and my dog pass away too. My gran died 5 days after Han (27th July) aged 82 and my dog only today. He was very ill and could barely move so he was put down so he didn't have to suffer. He was 14 years old (98 dog years, nearly 105 :o )

Really sad news. I'm sure I'm not the only one but the main reason I joined ukmix was for his chart histories.

^With you 100%. Not everyone visits this thread as often but posting a thread about his death would be a good idea to get the message across.

So very sad to hear about Hanboo's passing, although like many others on here I have been aware that his posts dwindled significantly over the last few years, and I believe he more or less 'retired' from posting on here a couple of years back. I still have printed off some of his earlier posts, which were personally invaluable to me in my chart research, and always very interesting. I never spoke to him personally, knew his real name or age, or even which part of the World he lived (does anybody have that information?) but it still so sad to hear of the death about somebody I never knew at all, but whose work I admired. RIP.

Very, very sad news! :( I never interacted with Hanboo personally, but I know the majority of members joined the site because of its invaluable chart data and I do know Hanboo was a massive contributor to what still remains the backbone of the site. May he rest in peace.
And the category is: LIVE. WORK. POSE!
