Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' Enters Sixth Week at No. 1 in Australia
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... -australia
1/15/2018 by Lars Brandle

Ed Sheeran rules Australia’s singles chart for a sixth straight week with “Perfect” (Atlantic/Warner) while the score for The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) remains the top entertainer on the albums survey.

With his latest stint atop the ARIA Singles Chart, Sheeran logs 27 career weeks at No. 1. “Perfect,” also this week’s No. 1 in the U.K., is credited triple platinum (210,000 units) in Australia.

Coming in at No. 2 this week is Post Malone's “I Fall Apart” (Universal), which hits a new high in its 14th week on the chart. The U.S. rapper’s former No. 1, “Rockstar,” holds at No. 6 while his more recent release, “Candy Paint,” improves 26-20, a new peak. Also this week, Post's debut set Stoney rises four places on the ARIA Albums Chart to a best position of No. 6.

Eminem’s “River” (Interscope/Universal) featuring Sheeran is unchanged at No. 3, as Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line “Meant To Be” (Warner) improves three places to No. 4, a new peak. Camila Cabello’s “Havana” (Epic/Sony) featuring Young Thug this week dips 2-5.

U.S. rapper and producer G-Eazy earns his first top 10 as a lead artist as “Him & I” (RCA/Sony) featuring Halsey leaps 16-10 in its sixth week. Meanwhile, Bruno Mars snags the week’s highest new entry with “Finesse” (Atlantic/Warner), featuring Cardi B, which opens at No. 15. It's Mars’ third top 50 entry from 24K Magic after its title track (No. 3 in December 2016) and “That’s What I Like” (No. 5 in April 2017).

Just four Australian recordings impact the top 50, led by Pnau’s “Go Bang,” unchanged at No. 13, and Sheppard’s “Coming Home” (Chugg/MGM), which rallies 28-23, a new peak.

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, it's an unchanged top 5 as Sheeran’s six-times platinum Divide (Warner) holds at No. 2, Pink’s four-times platinum Beautiful Trauma (RCA/Sony) is at No. 3, Eminem’s Revival (Interscope/Universal), stays at No. 4 and Taylor Swift’s Reputation (Big Machine/Universal) retains No. 5.

Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' Reigns Again Down Under
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... alia-chart
1/21/2018 by Lars Brandle

Ed Sheeran continues his perfect start to the year on Australia’s singles chart.

The British singer and songwriter enters a seventh straight week at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with “Perfect” (Atlantic/Warner), now triple-platinum (210,000 units). "Perfect" holds off Post Malone’s "I Fall Apart” (Universal), which hold at No. 2, and Sheeran’s collaboration with Eminem, "River" (Interscope/Universal), which banks another week at No. 3.

This week’s top five is completed by Camila Cabello’s former chart leader ”Havana” (Epic/Sony), up 5-4, and Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” (Warner), down 4-5.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars scores a tenth top 10 single as a lead artist as “Finesse,” featuring Cardi B, bounds 15-9 in its second week in the top 50, while Keala Settle’s inspirational song from The Greatest Showman, “This Is Me," recorded with the film's ensemble, rises 19-10 for its first stint in the top 10.

Homegrown pop singer and producer Troye Sivan returns to the singles survey with “My My My!” (EMI), which bows at No. 14. Sivan landed his highest chart position to date with “Happy Little Pill," which peaked at No. 10 in 2014. “My My My!” is the first track lifted from Sivan’s forthcoming sophomore set and it’s the followup to his Martin Garrix collaboration, “There For You,” which reached No. 23 last June. Also new on the chart this week is Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same,” opening at No. 17 and accompanying a No. 3 start for her debut album, Camila, on the national albums tally.

On the ARIA Albums Chart this week, The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) enters a third frame at No. 1, with Ed Sheeran’s six-times platinum (360,000 units) Divide (Warner) unchanged at No. 2.

Following the death last week of its singer Dolores O'Riordan, at age 46, The Cranberries’ hits collection Stars: The Best of 1992-2002 (Universal) arrives at No. 8.

Also notable this week is the No. 11 entry for Sydney pop-rock outfit Tonight Alive’s fourth album, Underworld (UNFD/Warner). The album, the followup to Limitless, which peaked at No. 6 in Australia in March 2016, starts at No. 55 on the U.K. albums chart.

Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' Rules Again In Australia
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... gles-chart
1/30/2018 by Lars Brandle

Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” (Atlantic/Warner) notches week eight atop Australia’s singles chart as the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) enters a fourth successive frame at No. 1 on the national albums survey.

The triple-platinum certified “Perfect” holds off the fast-rising “Meant to Be” (Warner), the Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line collab which improves 5-2, a new peak in its ninth chart week.

t’s a three-way rap battle as Post Malone’s platinum-certified “I Fall Apart” (Universal) dips 2-3, Eminem’s “River” (Interscope/Universal) featuring Ed Sheeran slips 3-4 and Drake’s international hit “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) opens at No. 5. The Canadian rapper’s new single debuted at No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K. and becomes Drizzy’s seventh top 10 single as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Just six new tracks enter this week’s ARIA Singles Chart, including homegrown pop star Kylie Minogue’s comeback track “Dancing” (Liberation), at No. 46, one place ahead of Aussie country star Keith Urban’s “Parallel Line” (Capitol/EMI).

On the ARIA Albums Chart, The Greatest Showman holds off Ed Sheeran’s six-times platinum Divide (Warner), which stays at No. 2 in its 47th week on the survey. All three of the British singer’s albums are inside the top 20.

Veteran alternative rock outfit Fall Out Boy score the week’s highest debut with Mania (Island/Universal), their seventh studio album. It's new at No. 3 for their fifth top 10 debut on the survey. Meanwhile, Sam Smith’s The Thrill Of It All (Capitol/EMI) soars 10-4 as fans rush to buy tickets to his expanding November tour of these parts. Pink’s former chart-leader, the four-times platinum Beautiful Trauma (RCA/Sony), holds at No. 5.

As the Foo Fighters worked their way across the country for another stadium tour, the rockers’ Greatest Hits (RCA/Sony) retrospective leaps 30-11 in its 90th week on the chart. The Foos wrap their Australasian tour in Auckland this Saturday in support of Concrete and Gold, which lifts 18-15.

Drake Rules Australia's Singles Chart With 'God's Plan'
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... -gods-plan
2/5/2018 by Lars Brandle

Drake is in Australian chart heaven this week as “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) rises 5-1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, while The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) enters a fifth week atop the albums survey.

With “God’s Plan” summiting in its second week, the Canadian hip-hop star has a second No. 1 after "One Dance" held top spot on the national singles survey in May 2016. “God’s Plan,” lifted from the Scary Hours EP, is also No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K.

With Drizzy taking the Australian crown, last week’s top four each drop down one position as Bruno Mars’ “Finesse” (Atlantic/Warner) featuring Cardi B leaps 11-6, a new peak, after the song was performed at the 60th Grammy Awards, where Mars was the big winner with six prizes.

Just one place behind is Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same” (Syco/Sony), which rises 12-7, a new best in its third week on the survey. It's Cabello’s second top 10 in Australia after “Havana,” which topped the singles chart last November.

Sydney electronic dance music trio Pnau blast a second top 10 with “Go Bang” (Universal), which improves 14-9 after the track came in at No. 7 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown, unveiled on Jan. 27. The winner of the annual poll, Kendrick Lamar’s "HUMBLE." (Interscope/Universal), soars 45-20 in its 44th week on the chart as its parent Damn. vaults 23-13 on the albums list. Another beneficiary of the Hottest 100 is Angus & Julia Stone’s “Chateau” (EMI), which landed at No. 3 on Triple J’s poll and improves 48-26 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart.

On the ARIA Albums Chart, The Greatest Showman continues to entertain the masses as it logs a fifth week at the top while a pair of former No. 1s occupy positions 2 and 3 (Ed Sheeran’s Divide and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma, respectively). With four entries in this year’s Triple J Hottest 100, Gang of Youths enjoy a boost on the albums chart as their ARIA Award-winning sophomore album Go Farther In Lightness (Sony) spikes 28-4 in its 24th week.

Foo Fighters have just completed their latest stadium tour of Australia, but their impact is still felt on the national albums chart as their Greatest Hits (RCA/Sony) leaps 11-5 and latest studio set Concrete and Gold improves 15-14. Metal rock act Machine Head enjoys the highest new entry with Catharsis (Chaos Reigns/Universal), new at No. 10.

Drake and 'The Greatest Showman' Extend Rule Over Australia's Charts
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... lia-charts
2/12/2018 by Lars Brandle

Drake is still living the high life in Australia as “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) enters a second week at No. 1 on the national chart while the Greatest Showman clocks up a sixth stint atop the albums survey.

“God’s Plan,” lifted from the Scary Hours EP, has led the charts in the U.S., U.K., Canada and a string of European markets and it's the top track on Australia’s Streaming Singles tally.

Ed Sheeran's former chart leader “Perfect” (Atlantic/Warner) is unshaken at No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart, one place ahead of Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart” (Universal), up 4-3; while Rudimental “These Days” (East West/Warner) featuring Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen spikes six places to No. 4 and Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” (Warner) completes the top 5, dropping two places.

Six homegrown tracks impact the top 50, led by Pnau’s “Go Bang” at No. 13, down four places from the previous week, while the highest debut belongs to The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar’s “Pray For Me” (RCA/Sony), taken from Black Panther: The Album, new at No. 18.

On the ARIA Albums Chart, The Greatest Showman outguns Justin Timberlake’s fifth solo studio album Man Of The Woods (RCA/Sony), which starts at No. 2. Timberlake has ruled the Australian chart on two occasions, with FutureSex/LoveSounds (September 2006) and The 20/20 Experience (March 2013), and his new single “Say Something” featuring Chris Stapleton leaps 36-24 in its second week on the singles survey.

Ed Sheeran’s six-times platinum hit Divide is down 4-3, while ARIA Award-winning Aussie alternative rockers DZ Deathrays score a career high with Bloody Lovely (IOU/Universal), new at No. 4. Post Malone’s Stoney lifts 6-5.

Australian Idol alum Shannon Noll has a sixth top 10 on the national albums chart with Unbroken, his first album since 2011. It’s new at No. 7.

Drake Extends Reign Atop Australia's Singles Chart
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... gles-chart
2/19/2018 by Lars Brandle

Drake enters a third week at No. 1 in Australia with “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) as The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) rules the albums chart for a seventh frame.

"God’s Plan," which should benefit from the release last Friday of its official video, is challenged by Rudimental’s “These Days” (EastWest/Warner), which improves 4-2, a new peak in its fourth week on the ARIA Singles Chart. Meanwhile, Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart” (Universal) is unchanged at No. 3, Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be” (Warner) improves 5-4 and Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s “All The Stars” (Interscope/Universal) leaps 19-5, as its parent Black Panther: The Album (Interscope/Universal) debuts at No. 2. "Stars" is Lamar’s second top ten single after “Humble.” reached No. 2 in April 2017.

With all the hype surrounding the new Marvel film, Lamar appears a second time in the top 20 with his Black Panther release “Pray For Me,” a collaboration with The Weeknd which improves six places to a new high of No. 12.

Just two new releases impact the top 50 this week, Marshmello & Anne Marie’s "FRIENDS" (No. 32 via Atlantic/Warner) and Migos’ “Stir Fry” (No. 40 via Capitol/EMI), while six homegrown recordings appear on the new tally, led by Pnau’s “Go Bang” (Universal) at No. 16.

On the ARIA Albums Chart, Black Panther leads four new arrivals in the top 10. The Fifty Shades Freed (Universal) soundtrack opens at No. 4, The Wombats’ Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (Warner) is at No. 5 and Wollongong surf rock band Hockey Dad bow at No. 6 with their second album, Blend Inn (Inertia).
