Drake Extends Streak Atop Australia's Singles Chart
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... gles-chart
2/26/2018 by Lars Brandle

Drake is still looking down from above with “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal), which enters a fourth week atop Australia’s singles chart, while the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) snags an eighth consecutive week at the crest of the albums survey.

"God’s Plan," lifted from the Canadian rapper’s Scary Hours EP, extends its chart reign following the release of its official video, which sees Drizzy give away nearly US$1 million to Miami residents. Drake’s latest hit is now platinum certified in Australia (70,000 units).

A week after cracking the top ten, Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s “All The Stars” (Interscope/Universal), powers to a new peak, rising 5-2 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It's Lamar’s second single to hit No. 2 after “Humble.” did so in April 2017. “All The Stars” is one of two K. Dot tracks from Black Panther: The Album to impact the top 10 this week. The other, “Pray For Me,” a collaboration with the Weeknd, rises 12-10. "Pray" is the Canadian artist's fifth top ten single and Lamar’s third.

The top five is completed by Rudimental’s “These Days” (EastWest/Warner), down 2-3; Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” (Warner); unchanged at No. 4; and Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart” (Universal), slipping 3-5.

The highest debut this week comes from Khalid & Normani’s “Love Lies” (RCA/Sony), new at No. 29, while seven homegrown tracks impact the top 50, including Delta Goodrem’s latest number, “Think About You” (Sony), new at No. 32.

With The Greatest Showman locking-down top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart, Black Panther: The Album (Interscope/Universal) settles for another week at No. 2. Homegrown pop-rock outfit Ball Park Music (Stop Start/Inertia) collect a fourth top ten with Good Mood, new at No. 5, as New Zealand singer-songwriter Marlon Williams grabs a career-high with his sophomore album, Make Way For Love (Caroline/Universal), new at No. 8.

Can anyone explain me why « The Essential » by Céline Dion is not on the top 100 albums chart while it’s #37 on the catalogue chart, ahead of « The Platinum Collection » by Queen and « This is acting » by Sia which do appear on the albums chart? :-?

^Because Sony, her Australian record company hasn't asked ARIA to include it in the Top 100 Albums Chart.

Thanks for your answer

I thought it was automatically done! Especially because "The Essential" did chart for a few weeks six years ago! ...How is that possible?

...Same explanations for "The Ultimate Collection" from Whitney and "18 Hits" by ABBA?

Here are the eligibility rules for the ARIA Albums charts:

Albums Chart (Top 10, 50, 100, 150)

1.3. Eligibility for the Albums Chart requires that the Title :

must be an Album (see definition in Schedule 1); and

must be the subject of a written survey request for this chart by a Record Supplier who supplies the Title to retail stores in Australia; and

must be less than two years old (from its first Australian release date) unless in a continuing Chart run or made the subject of a new written Chart Survey request in
accordance with the Data and Eligibility Rules (eg a qualifying older album may be subject to an advertising campaign to coincide with a tour by the performer of the title); and

must not be a Compilation Album

1.4. Eligibility does not require that the Title be a new release (eg the Title may be a re-release of aprevious Top 100 Album).

1.5. A Title will no longer be eligible and will consequently be automatically removed from survey, if after an initial survey period (currently 15 weeks) it falls below a predetermined Chart rank threshold (currently No.450) and does not recover within a reasonable period (currently 5 weeks).
This threshold removal rank is changed to No.150 for albums once they become eligible for inclusion in the ARIA Catalogue Albums Chart

Vance Joy's 'Nation of Two' Debuts at No. 1 in Australia
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... -australia
3/5/2018 by Lars Brandle

Aussie singer and songwriter Vance Joy blasts to No. 1 in his homeland with Nation of Two (Liberation/Universal), his sophomore album.

Nation of Two debuts at the top of the new ARIA Albums Chart, ending the eight-week unbroken reign of The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner).

The followup to Vance Joy’s 2014’s chart topper Dream Your Life Away, Nation of Two features the singles "We’re Going Home" (which rises from No. 31 to a new peak at No. 16 on the ARIA Singles Chart this week), “Lay It On Me,” “Like Gold,” “Call If You Need Me” and the track “Saturday Sun,” which he played last week on The Late Late Show With James Corden, and it’s the first homegrown album to rule the national survey this year. Dream Your Life Away rises 26-18.

Just hours after Ed Sheeran kicked off his record-breaking Divide tour of Australia, the English singer bags three spots in the top 20. His seven-times platinum certified Divide (Warner) holds at No. 3, his diamond-certified Multiply is up 10-8 and six-times platinum Plus leaps 20-12.

ARIA Award-winning singer Sarah Blasko scores a fifth top 10 on the albums survey as Depth Of Field (EMI) opens at No. 5. Blasko’s sixth album is the followup to Eternal Return, which reached No. 6 in November 2015.

Also on this week’s albums tally, U.S. rapper 6ix9ine makes his debut with the mixtape Day69 (Caroline/Universal), new at No. 11, while Melbourne outfit Augie March scrapes into the top 20 with Bootikins (Caroline/Universal), their sixth album and first in four years.

Meanwhile, Drake seizes a fifth week atop the ARIA Singles Chart with “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) as Post Malone starts at No. 2 with his latest Beerbongs & Bentleys single “Psycho” (Republic/Universal), featuring Ty Dolla $ign. It’s the U.S. rapper’s third top ten on the chart after “Rockstar” (No. 1 in October 2017) and “I Fall Apart” (No. 2 in January 2018).

Drake’s “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) racks-up a sixth week atop Australia’s singles chart while Ed Sheeran returns to the zenith of the national albums survey with Divide (Warner).

Sheeran, who is in the early phases of a record-breaking stadium tour of Australia, sees his third album climb 3-1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, for its 23rd week at the summit. Divide is now diamond certified (500,000 units). As Sheeran completes the first week of a million-ticket-selling trek, the English singer’s second album Multiply improves 8-5, and his debut Plus rises 12-8, while on the singles survey, Perfect lifts 10-6 and "Shape of You" is up 34-25.

Meanwhile, Melbourne act Camp Cope grabs the highest new entry with How To Socialise & Make Friends, which opens at No. 6. The trio’s second album easily eclipses the chart effort of their self-titled debut from May 2016, which peaked at No. 36.

As his arena tour laps the country, Bruno Mars sees his third album 24K Magic (Elektra /Warner) soar 24-10, while K-pop star j-hope lands his first solo chart entry with Hope World, new at No. 13. As a member of BTS, the pop singer has a top 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Love Yourself: Her, which peaked at No. 8 last September.

With "God's Plan," Drake leads an unchanged singles chart top 5, ahead of Post Malone’s “Psycho” (Republic/Universal) featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s “All The Stars” (Interscope/Universal), Rudimental’s “These Days” (EastWest/Warner) and Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line “Meant To Be” (Warner).

ive homegrown tracks impact the top 50, led by Vance Joy’s “We’re Going Down” (Liberation/Universal), down 16-20, while XXXTentacion has the only new entry on the singles tally with “Sad!” (Caroline/Universal), which starts at No. 33.

Ed Sheeran, Drake Rule Australia's Charts
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... ias-charts
3/19/2018 by Lars Brandle

Ed Sheeran has Australia pretty much to himself right now. The English singer’s Divide (Warner) remains at No. 1 on the national albums chart for a 24th week as he winds his way around the country for a record-smashing stadium tour.

All three of Sheeran’s albums are in the ARIA Albums Chart top ten, with his latest, diamond-certified set (500,000 units) at the summit, Multiply (also diamond certified) is up 5-4 and Plus (6-times platinum) improves 8-7, while four of his tracks register top 50 gains on the ARIA Singles Chart. Sheeran’s trek Down Under, produced by Frontier Touring, has sold more than one million tickets and ballooned to 18 stadium dates, both records.

The highest new release this week comes from children's entertainers The Wiggles, whose Nursery Rhymes 2 (ABC/Universal) opens at No. 3, just one place below The Great Showman (Atlantic/Warner) soundtrack, while British singer Calum Scott makes his first albums chart appearance with Only Human (Capitol/EMI), new at No. 5.

As his own tour makes its way around the country, Bruno Mars sees all three of his albums impact the top 50, led by 24K Magic (Elektra /Warner) up 10-6, while U.S. hip-hop artist Logic snags his first top ten on the national albums survey with Bobby Tarantino II. The mixtape starts at No. 10, eclipsing the No. 25 peak of his 2017 album Everybody.

On the ARIA Singles Chart, Drake retains the crown for a seventh straight week with “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal), which is now platinum certified (70,000 combined units).

Just two tracks debut inside the top 50: Logic and Marshmello’s “Everyday” (Universal) at No. 38 and Aussie pop star Jess Mauboy’s No. 47-ranked “We Got Love,” Australia’s official Eurovision song for 2018.

Ed Sheeran, Drake Rule Australia's Charts
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... lia-charts
3/26/2018 by Lars Brandle

Ed Sheeran has completed his tour of Australia but he’s still king of the national albums chart.

The British singer and songwriter’s third album Divide (Warner) rules the ARIA Albums Chart for a 25th week, matching the reign of John Farnham’s 1986 classic Whispering Jack. Only three other albums have spent longer at the chart throne in Australia: Delta Goodrem’s Innocent Eyes (29 weeks in 2003/2004), Adele’s 21 (32 weeks in 2011/2012) and Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms (34 weeks in 1985/1986).

Sheeran has already snatched one record from Dire Straits; his Divide tour of Australia and New Zealand sold more than one million tickets, smashing the benchmark set by the Brothers In Arms trek in 1986. The "Shape Of You" singer sees all three of his albums impact the top 10 this week, as Multiply holds at No. 4 and Plus improves 7-6.

The highest new entry on the survey this week comes from XXXTentacion, the controversial American rapper whose sophomore album ? (Caroline/Universal) starts at No. 3, while British pop singer Dua Lipa sees her self-titled debut climb eight places to No. 9, a new peak, as she tours the country with Bruno Mars.

U.S. country stars Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Billy Ray Cyrus have all toured Down Under in recent weeks and their presence here has translated into chart bursts. Bryan’s 2017 set What Makes You Country (Capitol/EMI) leaps 38-11 and his 2013 LP Crash My Party re-enters the chart at No. 39; Combs’ The One’s For You (Columbia/Sony) debuts at No. 16 and Cyrus’ Thin Line (Sony) starts at No. 20.

On the ARIA Singles Chart, Drake's enters a seventh consecutive week at No. 1 with “God’s Plan” (Republic/Universal) while Lil Dicky earns the week’s top debut with “Freaky Friday” (Warner) featuring Chris Brown, new at No. 18.
