In a way I can understand it for those two albums as they are two of a host of classic 70s and 80s albums that continue to sell well, especially on vinyl. But with 'Gold' I wonder how much streaming is contributing to sales given that it has a more across the board appeal, from teens upwards.
Mamma Mia is on TV all the time as well.

I've just read that 1-800-273-8255 is the telephone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in the US. Needless to say the lyrics are very bleak.

I forgot about that. Wasn't it on TV last week or the week before? It's an awful film though with contrived shoe-horning in of Abba songs into the script and none of the cast can hold a note. I was forced to sit through it once - never again!

I think it's worth also noting that both Rumours and Legend are far behind Gold in sales - I suppose the saleability of Gold is that it's a compilation and a pretty excellent one at that and the fact that Abba studio albums don't really sell very well.

'Gold' is currently at number 76 and number 85 on iTunes. It is a big iTunes seller in general - worldwide. I don't think that streaming is contributing much to its sales.
It will be interesting to see how the release of 'Mamma Mia 2' next year will affect its sales...

Most of the ABBA Songs in 'Mamma Mia! 2' will either be from 'More ABBA Gold' or from old ABBA Album Tracks.
'When I Kissed The Teacher' is in the 2nd Film, and that is a Track on 'Arrival' and 'More ABBA Gold'.

A few Songs will be from 'ABBA Gold' - such as 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' - which was not used in the 1st Film.
'Fernando' could be used too. It only needs imagination, to fit it in - such as it being performed in a Play, within
the Film. (Such as a School Play). 'Ring Ring' could also be used.

I believe that a few 'ABBA Gold' Songs from the 1st Film will be used again - 'Dancing Queen' & 'Mamma Mia' being
but 2 of them. Perhaps 'Waterloo' too.

It is a great mystery, why Benny & Bjorn allow Actors, who cannot really sing, to ruin ABBA Songs, in the 'Mamma Mia!'
Films. There are plenty of Actors who can Act & Sing, so they really should have avoided Actors, like Pierce Brosnan &
Julie Walters. They only murder the old ABBA Songs.

We will see what effect the 2nd Film has on ABBA Compilation Sales, when it is released, on July 20th 2018.....ABBA
Studio Albums tend not to sell terribly well, although 'The Visitors' seems to be their biggest selling UK 'Catalogue'
Studio Album, with over 80,000 UK copies sold, in the past 15 Years, or so.....

Its week for doing that will surely come before much longer - it could maybe be next week.

A bit further down, Jax Jones and Alma seem likely to be the main victims of the new rules this time.

Foo Fighters' new album Concrete and Gold is shining brightly at the top of today's Official Albums Chart Update.

The rock group's ninth studio album has generated 43,000 combined chart sales so far this week, and is currently outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined.

ABBA's Gold is on sale for 6 quid (2 for ten quid) at Asda, btw - only just noticed.

I say! Impressive sales after only a few days from The Foo Fighters' latest. I didn't realise they still had that sort of selling power in the albums market.

For nostalgic reasons it's rather nice to catch Gary Numan in the Top 2 too, even though I doubt he'll have the traction to maintain such a lofty entry point come the close of the frame.
