Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone had the list of certified singles/albums from the Netherlands during the 90's?
I've gone on the NVPI site but can't seem to see anything.
Does anyone have any to hand? Thankyou.

A few years ago, in the web-site NVPI there was an archive, maybe someone saved it

I have read the database a couple of years ago and got frustrated at how little info to get today there. In the nineties I kept track for a little while. Main certifications I remember for international acts:
- Michael Jackson -Thriller 8x platinum (800000 sales)
- Meat Loaf - Bat out of hell 7x platinum
- Mariah Carey - Music Box 6x platinum
- Céline Dion - Falling into you 6x platinum
- Céline Dion - Let's talk about love 6x platinum
- Queen - Greatest hits I/Greatest hits Ii -5x platinum + gold for a combined release (not sure about the platinum collection)

Just a small start

I also found the following international acts with 5x platinum (500000 copies):
- OST - Saturday Night Fever
- OST - The Bodyguard
- Shania Twain - Come on over
Michael Jackson's Bad supposedly also has sold this much, but I haven't seen certification for that.

Other contestants I heard of in the 500000 + range, but without knowing certification are:
- OST - Grease
- Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
- Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
- Bob Marley - Legend
- Eagles - Hotel California

Below 5x Platinum I might know some info, but definitely not all, or even a lot

In 1979, Billboard Magazine reported that the two ABBA albums 'Best Of ABBA' and 'Arrival' sold 500k each in the Netherlands.
Only the soundtracks to 'Grease' and 'Saturday Night Fever' had sold more at the time ('Grease' 750k and 'SNF' 600k).

According to NVPI, the IFPI affiliate in the Netherlands, the highest certified album in the Netherlands is Thriller, but it's certified at 8 times platinum, meaning shipments of only 560,000 copies.

Actually, Kane only seem to have 1 multiplatinum disc to their credit, and the Heideroosjes have no multiplatinum discs.

According to NVPI, here are the Top 5 selling albums by Dutch artists:
André Rieu - Strauss & Co (7P)
Marco Borsato - De Waarheid (6P)
Robert Long - Vroeger of Later (5P)
André Hazes - Al 15 Jaar Gewoon André (5P)
Ilse De Lange - World of Hurt (5P)
Prisoner Of Rock'n'Roll

Adele's 21 is now certified 9x platinum, so more than thriller, but for sales of 'only' 450000.
