Billboard 200 Update

Lil Uzi Vert's 'Luv Is Rage 2' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with his debut studio album, Luv Is Rage 2, starting with 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Aug. 31, according to Nielsen Music. The album was released on Aug. 25 through Generation Now/Atlantic Records, and follows two earlier charting efforts for the artist.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Sept. 16-dated chart (where Luv Is Rage 2 debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Wednesday (Sept. 6) -- one day later than usual, due to the U.S. Labor Day holiday on Sept. 4.

Of Luv Is Rage 2’s total debut units, 28,000 are in traditional album sales. The album is powered mostly by SEA units: 100,000 -- translating to 150.6 million on-demand audio streams of the tracks on the album. The rest of the album’s starting figure is 7,000 TEA units.

Luv Is Rage 2’s streaming sum of 100,000 SEA units is the largest for an album in nearly four months (since Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. tallied 105,000 units in its third chart week; May 20) and the third-largest streaming debut of 2017 (behind Drake’s More Life, with 257,000 SEA units on the April 8 chart, and DAMN.’s debut of 227,000 SEA units on the May 6 chart).

Luv is Rage 2 features the top 10-charting Billboard Hot 100 hit “XO TOUR Llif3,” which peaked at No. 7 in June.

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, another rapper debuts, as XXXTentacion debuts with his first full-length studio effort 17. It arrives with 87,000 units. Of that sum, 18,000 are in traditional album sales, 67,000 are in SEA units and 3,000 are in TEA units. Earlier in 2017, he notched a pair of Hot 100 hits with “Look at Me!” (peaking at No. 34) and “Roll In Peace” (Kodak Black featuring XXXTentacion, No. 53).

XXXTentacion charted one previous set on the Billboard 200 with the Revenge mixtape, hitting No. 44 in June.

Rock band Queens of the Stone Age earns its fifth top 40-charting album as Villains starts at No. 3 with 73,000 units (69,000 in traditional album sales). The group previously hit the top 10 with its last album, …Like Clockwork (No. 1 in 2013) and 2005’s Lullabies to Paralyze (No. 5).

Villains is also the best selling album of the week, as it starts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Pop vocal group Fifth Harmony claims its fourth top 10 effort on the Billboard 200, as its new self-titled album bows at No. 4 with 46,000 units (32,000 in traditional album sales). The girl group’s last album, 7/27, also debuted and peaked at No. 4 in 2016 (74,000 in units and 49,000 in sales). Before 7/27, the group collected top 10s with Reflection (No. 5 in 2015) and the Better Together EP (No. 6 in 2013).

With four top 10 albums, Fifth Harmony equals the number of top 10 sets from fellow all-female acts Destiny’s Child and Dixie Chicks. Among all-female groups, only The Supremes have more, with eight top 10s logged between 1965 and 1969.

Kendrick Lamar’s former No. 1 DAMN. slips from No. 3 to No. 5 with 45,000 units (though it’s up 11 percent). The set spends its 20th consecutive week in the top five, since debuting at No. 1 on the May 6-dated chart.

Rap collective A$AP Mob follows up its No. 13-peaking Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends with the new Cozy Tapes, Vol. 2: Too Cozy, which launches at No. 6. The new effort bows with 41,000 units (7,000 in traditional album sales) and is mostly powered by streams (32,000 SEA units). The first Cozy Tapes effort started with 21,000 units back on the Nov. 19, 2016-dated list.

Trailing A$AP Mob by a small margin, country group Old Dominion debuts at No. 7 on the new Billboard 200 with its second-full length studio album Happy Endings (41,000 units; 31,000 in album sales), granting the act its highest charting effort yet. The album was led by the single “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” which reached No. 5 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart. Old Dominion previously reached the Billboard 200 with its first studio set, Meat and Candy (No. 16 in 2015) and its self-titled EP (No. 148 in 2015).

Khalid’s American Teen moves 6-8 with 33,000 units (up 15 percent) while Kodak Black’s Project Baby Two falls 2-9 in its second week with just under 33,000 units (down 34 percent).

Rock band The War on Drugs lands its first top 10 effort as its fourth studio album, A Deeper Understanding, starts at No. 10 with 31,000 units (28,000 in traditional album sales). The group’s last release, Lost In the Dream, debuted and peaked at No. 26 in 2014.

A total of seven albums debut in the top 10, giving the chart the most new arrivals in the region since the Nov. 12, 2016-dated tally, when seven albums also launched in the top 10 (led by Lady Gaga’s No. 1 bow with Joanne).

Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' Leaps to No. 1 on Hot 100 With Top Streaming & Sales Week of 2017
9/5/2017 by Gary Trust

Swift scores her fifth Hot 100 No. 1 and breaks the weekly streaming record for a song by a woman. "Look" also stops the record-tying 16-week reign of "Despacito."

Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" blasts from No. 77 (where it debuted) to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 16), following its first full week of data tracking. After its Aug. 25 release, the song soars to the top with the highest weekly streaming and sales sums for a track in 2017 and breaks the record for the most weekly streams ever for a song by a woman.

"Look" -- released on Big Machine/Republic Records and the first single from Swift's album Reputation (her first since 1989 in 2014), due Nov. 10 -- is her fifth Hot 100 No. 1. It also dethrones Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber, which a week ago tied the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 (16) in the Hot 100's 59-year history.

Let's run down the numerous achievements for "Look" as it crowns the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. Highlights of the rest of the top 10 will post on Billboard.com later today (Sept. 5), and all charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 6).

Record-breaking streams: Following its first week of streaming, "Look" blasts onto the Streaming Songs chart at No. 1 with 84.4 million U.S. streams in the week ending Aug. 31, according to Nielsen Music. The total is not only the highest for any song this year, passing the 69.6 million with which "Despacito" peaked on the June 17-dated chart, but the highest ever in a week for a song by a female artist, surpassing the debut week of Adele's "Hello" (61.6 million, Nov. 14, 2015).

Only one song has posted a greater weekly total than "Look" on Streaming Songs (which began on March 2, 2013): Baauer's "Harlem Shake," which peaked with 103 million, powered heavily by user-generated clips featuring the song's audio (the week that the survey debuted).

Swift adds her third Streaming Songs No. 1, following "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space." She ties Miley Cyrus for the most by a woman; among all acts, only Bieber has earned more No. 1s (four).

Best weekly sales of 2017: "Look" also launches with the top weekly download sales this year: 353,000 in the week ending Aug. 31, as it starts at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. That tops the 240,000-download start for Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" (Jan. 28). "Look" sports the highest weekly sales since Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling!" bowed with 379,000 on May 28, 2016 (and the best total for a woman since Adele's "Hello" sold 480,000 in its third week, reflected on the Nov. 28, 2015-dated Digital Song Sales chart).

Swift scores her 12th Digital Song Sales No. 1, passing Katy Perry (11) for the second-most; Rihanna leads with 14 toppers on the tally.

Swift ascent: With its 77-1 vault on the Hot 100, "Look" makes the fifth-greatest leap to No. 1 of all-time. Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" leads with its 97-1 surge (Feb. 7, 2009). Swift replaces herself for the fifth-biggest jump to the summit: her first leader, 2012's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," rocketed 72-1. (Both "Look" and "Never" debuted from initial airplay before bounding to No. 1 following their first full weeks of streaming and sales tracking. Streaming and sales follow a Friday-Thursday measurement week, while airplay is tracked Monday-Sunday for the Hot 100's tabulation.)

High(est) five: Swift first led the Hot 100 with "Never" for three weeks in 2012. She added her second, third and fourth No. 1s from 1989: "Shake It Off" (four weeks, 2014), "Blank Space" (seven, 2014-15) and "Bad Blood," featuring Kendrick Lamar (one, 2015). With "Look" leading in its second week on the Hot 100, all five of Swift's No. 1s have reigned in four or fewer chart weeks.

Swift joins 13 other women (her favorite number!) with at least five Hot 100 No. 1s. Mariah Carey leads all women (and soloists) with 18 No. 1s, second among all artists only to the Beatles' 20.

First singles ranking first: Swift has now topped the Hot 100 with the first single from each of her last three albums. "Look" introduces Reputation; "Shake," which debuted atop the Hot 100, ushered in 1989, and "Never" was released as the first single from Red.

'Look' and listen: As it leads Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales, "Look" charges 23-14 on the Radio Songs chart with 64 million all-format audience impressions following its first full week of airplay tracking. (It debuted a week ago with 46 million in its first three days.) Most notably, "Look" roars 21-9 on the Pop Songs chart (which is based on total weekly plays on a 164-station panel of mainstream top 40 stations), marking Swift's 14th top 10. It makes the fastest flight to the chart's top 10 since Timberlake's "Feeling" flew 24-10 on May 28, 2016.

Leading lady: More than nine months into 2017, Swift is the first woman to top the Hot 100 this year. She's the first since Halsey reigned, as featured on the Chainsmokers' "Closer," which wrapped its 12-week rule on Nov. 19, 2016. Until "Look," no woman had topped the Hot 100 in a lead role in more than a year: since Sia's "Cheap Thrills," featuring Sean Paul, led for four weeks from Aug. 6 through Aug. 27, 2016.

Further, "Look" is the first song by a woman unaccompanied by a male artist to rule the Hot 100 since Adele's "Hello" led for 10 weeks (Nov. 14, 2015-Jan. 16, 2016). The only other such No. 1s since the start of 2014: Swift's "Shake" and "Space" and Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass."

Atop the Hot 100, "Look" supplants "Despacito," which on the Sept. 9-dated chart logged its 16th week at No. 1, matching Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" (16 weeks, 1995-96) for the longest command in the chart's archives. On the new Sept. 16 list, "Despacito" dips to No. 2.

Again, highlights of the rest of the Sept. 16-dated Hot 100's top 10 will post on Billboard.com later today (Sept. 5), and all charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 6).

'Despacito' Drops From Top of Billboard Hot 100, Logic & Liam Payne Hit Top 10
9/5/2017 by Gary Trust

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber, cedes the summit to Taylor Swift after a record-tying 16 weeks at No. 1, while Logic & Payne earn their first top 10s.

As previously reported, Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" leaps from No. 77 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 16), following its first full week of data tracking. It soars to the top with the highest weekly streaming and sales sums for a track in 2017, and breaks the record for the most weekly streams ever for a song by a woman.

Also in the Hot 100's top 10, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber, departs the summit after a record-tying 16 weeks at No. 1; Logic's "1-800-273-8255," featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, bounds 29-9; and Liam Payne becomes the third member of One Direction to notch a solo top 10, as "Strip That Down," featuring Quavo, pushes 11-10.

Let's recap Nos. 2 through 10 on the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 6).

Down to No. 2, "Despacito" remains tied with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's 16-week 1995-96 No. 1 for the most weeks spent at the apex in the Hot 100's 59-year history.

"Despacito" also drops to No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart after a record 17 weeks at No. 1, with 76,000 downloads sold (down 6 percent) in the week ending Aug. 31, according to Nielsen Music. On the Streaming Songs chart, it slips to No. 3 after a record 16 weeks on top, with 39.5 million U.S. streams (down 11 percent) in the week ending Aug. 31. (Swift's "Look" takes over atop both tallies, ruling the latter with the top total ever for a song by a woman: 84.4 million.) On Radio Songs, "Despacito" descends 5-6 (after five prior weeks at No. 1), drawing 87 million in all-format airplay audience (down 17 percent) in the week ending Sept. 3. "Despacito" remains atop Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, which it leads for a 31st week.

Cardi B's breakthrough hit "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" holds at its No. 3 Hot 100 high. It keeps at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (42.2 million, up 1 percent); slips 8-10 on Digital Song Sales (35,000, down 4 percent); and bumps 20-17 on Radio Songs (55 million, up 11 percent). The track spends a second week at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and becomes Cardi B's first No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (2-1).

DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts," featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, falls to No. 4 on the Hot 100 after seven weeks at its No. 2 peak (the most for a No. 2 hit since Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" spent eight weeks at its No. 2 high in 2015). Still, it tops Radio Songs (131 million, down 5 percent) for a third week and rules the Hot R&B Songs chart for a ninth week.

Charlie Puth's "Attention" is steady at its No. 5 Hot 100 high; Imagine Dragons' "Believer" retreats to No. 6 on the Hot 100 from its No. 4 peak, while leading the Hot Rock Songs chart for a 26th week; French Montana's "Unforgettable," featuring Swae Lee, drops 6-7 on the Hot 100 after reaching No. 3; and Shawn Mendes' "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" slides 7-8, after rising to No. 6.

After the trio performed the track at the MTV Video Music Awards Aug. 27, Logic's "1-800-273-8255," featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, vaults 29-9 on the Hot 100. The song soars 22-3 on Digital Song Sales (69,000, up 258 percent) and 15-12 on Streaming Songs (20 million, up 20 percent) and debuts at No. 41 on Radio Songs (30 million, up 21 percent).

The song, from Logic's first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, Everybody (which debuted atop the May 27-dated chart), marks the rapper's first Hot 100 top 10. ("1-800-273-8255" doubles as the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.) Khalid also earns his first Hot 100 top 10, while Cara collects her fourth, following her own "Here" (No. 5, February 2016) and "Scars to Your Beautiful" (No. 8, February 2017) and her duet with Zedd, "Stay" (No. 7, May).

Closing out the Hot 100's top 10, Liam Payne achieves his first solo top 10, as "Strip That Down," featuring Quavo, climbs 11-10. The song (which Payne co-wrote with Sheeran, among others) also becomes Payne's first solo top 10 on Radio Songs (13-10; 77 million, up 9 percent), while sliding 3-6 on Digital Songs (44,000, down 4 percent) and 29-35 on Streaming Songs (13.7 million, down less than 1 percent week-over-week).

Payne is the third member of One Direction (which has tallied six Hot 100 top 10s) to notch a solo top 10 on the Hot 100, following two by (former member) Zayn and one by Harry Styles, whose "Sign of the Times" debuted and peaked at No. 4 in April. 1D, thus, joins the likes of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and New Edition with at least three members with solo Hot 100 top 10s.

Meanwhile, Quavo logs his fourth solo Hot 100 top 10, after scoring one as a member of Migos, whose "Bad and Boujee," featuring Lil Uzi Vert (who debuts at No. 1 on the Sept. 16-dated Billboard 200 with Luv Is Rage 2, his first leader on the list), topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in January-February.

Chart Watch: Look what you made Taylor do!
Yahoo Music
Paul Grein, Writer
September 5, 2017

Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” vaults from No. 77 to No. 1 in its second week on Billboard’s Hot 100. That’s the biggest leap to No. 1 since “Crack a Bottle” by Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent vaulted from No. 78 to No. 1 on Feb. 21, 2009.

“Look What You Made Me Do” is the lead single from Swift’s upcoming sixth studio album, reputation. The lead singles from her two most recent studio albums were also out-of-the-box No. 1 hits. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” the lead single from Red, vaulted from No. 72 to No. 1 in its second week in August 2012. “Shake It Off,” the lead single from 1989, debuted at No. 1 in September 2014.

This is Swift’s fifth No. 1 hit. She also topped the chart with “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” (featuring Kendrick Lamar). Only four other artists have amassed five or more No. 1 hits so far in this decade. Rihanna leads the pack with nine, followed by Katy Perry with eight and Bruno Mars with seven. Justin Bieber is tied with Swift with five leaders so far in this decade.

“Look What You Made Me Do” set new weekly records for the greatest sales and streams of any song in 2017. The old records were held by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” (featuring Bieber), respectively.

Swift’s smash sold 353K digital copies in the U.S. this week. That’s the greatest weekly tally since Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” sold 379K in its first week in May 2016.

“Look What You Made Me Do” enters Top Digital Songs at No. 1. It’s Swift’s 12th No. 1 digital hit. Only one artist has had more No. 1 digital hits in the history of the chart (which dates to October 2004). Rihanna leads with 14. Swift first topped the digital chart in February 2010 with “Today Was a Fairytale,” a dewy song from Garry Marshall’s rom-com, Valentine’s Day. (Play it back-to-back with the chilly, score-settling “Look What You Made Me Do” and it sounds like two different artists.)

Swift’s song amassed more than 84.4 million U.S. streams in the tracking week. Only one song has posted a greater weekly sum: Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” which peaked with 103 million streams. Swift sets a new record for the all-time top weekly streaming sum for a song by a woman. The old record was held by Adele’s “Hello,” which posted 61.6 million streams in its first week in November 2015.

“Look What You Made Me Do” enters the Official U.K. Singles Chart at No. 1. It’s Swift’s first No. 1 hit in the U.K. She had previously climbed as high as No. 2 with three hits—”Love Story,” “I Knew You Were Trouble.” and “Shake It Off.”

“Look What You Made Me Do” is the first song by a female solo artist (who wasn’t part of a collabo) to reach No. 1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. since Adele’s “Hello.”

The song’s success has boosted Swift’s most recent studio album, 1989, which vaults from No. 64 to No. 38 in its 142nd chart week on The Billboard 200. The album has sold 6,068,000 copies in traditional album sales. The album jumps to No. 1 on Top Catalog Albums, displacing Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits. This marks the first time that Swift has topped the catalog chart since her EP Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, was on top for four weeks in 2010-11.

Top Songs

Liam Payne becomes the third past or present member of One Direction to land a top 10 hit on the Hot 100, as “Strip That Down” (featuring Quavo) jumps from No. 11 to No. 10 in its 15th week. He follows Zayn, who has cracked the top 10 with two solo hits, and Harry Styles, who scored with “Sign of the Times” (No. 4 earlier this year).

One Direction joins a very select list of groups where three or more members have landed top 10 hits of their own. The others are the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and New Edition.

It’s interesting that boy bands account for two of the four groups that have done this. The five members of New Edition ranged in age from 15 to 17 in December 1984 when “Cool It Now” became their first top 10 hit. The five members of One Direction ranged in age from 18 to 20 in April 2012 when “What Makes You Beautiful” became their first top 10 hit.

Another member of One Direction may soon join Payne in the top 10. Niall Horan is in the top 15 with “Slow Hands.”

“Strip That Down” is Quavo’s fourth top 10 hit as a solo artist. In addition, he reached No. 1 as a member of Migos.

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” (featuring Bieber) dips from No. 1 to No. 2 in its 33rd week, one week after it tied the Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men smash “One Sweet Day” for the longest run at No. 1 in Hot 100 history (16 weeks). That’s a gentler drop than “One Sweet Day” experienced in March 1996. That smash tumbled from No. 1 to No. 5.

Cardi B ‘s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” holds at its No. 3 peak in its ninth week. It moves up to No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” (featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller) drops from its No. 2 peak to No. 4 in its 11th week. The song spent seven weeks at No. 2, the most for a No. 2 hit since Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” spent eight weeks at No. 2 in 2015.

Charlie Puth’s “Attention” holds at its No. 5 peak in its 19th week.

Imagine Dragons’ “Believer” drops from its No. 4 peak to No. 6 in its 30th week.

French Montana’s “Unforgettable” (featuring Swae Lee) dips from No. 6 to No. 7 in its 21st week. The song peaked at No. 3.

Shawn Mendes’s “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” dips from No. 7 to No. 8 in its 19th week. The song peaked at No. 6.

Logic lands his first top 10 hit as “1-800-273-8255” (featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid) leaps from No. 29 to No. 9 in its 18th week. The song’s title is the phone number of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. The artists’ performance of the song was the emotional highlight of the VMAs. This is Cara’s fourth top 10 hit; Khalid’s first.

Two former No. 1 hits, Bruno Mars’s “That’s What I Like” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” drop out of the top 10 this week. Also, Yo Gotti’s “Rake It Up” (featuring Nicki Minaj) drops out of the top 10 after hitting No. 10 last week.

Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” tops Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart for a record-extending 30th week.

Julia Michaels’ “Issues” tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. The song peaked at No. 11.

Top Albums

Lil Uzi Vert’s first full-length album, Luv Is Rage 2, debuts at No. 1. The album includes his former top 10 hit, “XO Tour Llif3.”

XXXTentacion’s 17 debuts at No. 2.

Queens of the Stone Age lands its third top five album as Villains debuts at No. 3. The album was this week’s best-seller in traditional album sales, but lost out when streaming and digital track sales were factored in. The album enters the Official U.K. Albums Chart at No. 1. It’s the band’s first No. 1 album in the U.K. It’s the first album by an American band to reach No. 1 in the U.K. since Kings of Leon’s Walls in October.

Fifth Harmony lands its fourth top 10 album or EP as Fifth Harmony debuts at No. 4. Only four other all-female groups have amassed four or more top 10 albums. The Supremes lead the pack with eight. Destiny’s Child and Dixie Chicks have also had four. The album includes the hit single “Down” (featuring Gucci Mane), which won Best Pop Video at the VMAs.

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. drops from No. 3 to No. 5 its 20th week. The album has logged four weeks at No. 1.

A$AP Mob lands its first top 10 album as Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy debuts at No. 6. Cozy Tapes Vol. 1: Friends hit No. 13 in 2016.

Old Dominion lands its first top 10 album as its sophomore album, Happy Endings, debuts at No. 7. Happy Endings enters Top Country Albums at No. 1, displacing Luke Combs’s This One’s for You.

Khalid’s American Teen drops from No. 6 to No. 8 in its 26th week. The album peaked at No. 4. The album includes the former top 20 hit “Location.”

Kodak Black’s Project Baby Two drops from No. 2 to No. 9 in its second week.

The War on Drugs lands its first top 10 album as A Deeper Understanding debuts at No. 10. The rock group’s last album, Lost in the Dream, debuted and peaked at No. 26 in 2014.

Brand New’s Science Fiction plummets from No. 1 to No. 97 in its second week. That’s by far the steepest fall from No. 1 since 1963, when separate stereo and mono charts were combined into one comprehensive chart. It breaks a record set last November when Bon Jovi’s This House Is Not for Sale tumbled from No. 1 to No. 43 in its second week. Will we start to see albums drop from No. 1 out of the top 100 in their second week? It’s starting to look that way, isn’t it?

Six other albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Neck Deep’s The Peace and the Panic drops from No. 4 completely off The Billboard 200. Kesha’s Rainbow drops from No. 5 to No. 16. DJ Khaled’s Grateful drops from No. 7 to No. 17. Ed Sheeran’s ÷ drops from No. 8 to No. 13. Dave East’s Paranoia: A True Story drops from No. 9 to No. 72. Imagine Dragons’ Evolve drops from No. 10 to No. 12.

The Moana soundtrack drops from No. 18 to No. 21 in its 41st week. The album peaked at No. 2. It’s No. 1 on Top Soundtracks for the 19th week.

Coming Attractions: Look for LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream and Lil Uzi Vert’s album to battle for No. 1 next week.
