A Pentatonix Christmas should be #2! (It is #2 on the Catalog Sales chart.)
Unbelievable! But it might get corrected.

Top Country Albums Bows: Chris Young, Darius Rucker And Turnpike Troubadours
http://www.billboard.com/articles/colum ... ius-rucker
10/31/2017 by Jim Asker

Singer-songwriter Chris Young’s new album, Losing Sleep (RCA Nashville/Sony Music Nashville), roars in atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (dated Nov. 11), earning 39,000 equivalent album units in its first week ending Oct. 26, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 32,000 were via traditional album sales. On the all-genre Billboard 200, Losing Sleep arrives at No. 5.

“I’m just so excited for Losing Sleep to debut at the No. 1 spot,” Young tells Billboard. “I can’t thank everyone enough who has bought, streamed and listened to this album.”

Losing Sleep, Young’s sixth studio LP, is his second Top Country Albums No. 1 among seven top 10s. His last LP, I’m Comin’ Over, -became his first Top Country Albums leader, debuting atop the Dec. 5, 2015-dated tally with 57,000 sold. Young previously charted with his 2006 self-titled debut LP (No. 3; 37,000, Oct. 21, 2006); The Man I Want to Be (No. 6; 26,000, Sept. 19, 2009); Neon, which brought his biggest one-week sales sum (No. 2; 73,000, July 30, 2011); A.M. (No. 2; 54,000, Oct. 5, 2013); and It Must Be Christmas (No. 4; 8,000, Nov. 5, 2016).

Concurrently, Losing Sleep’s title-track lead single vaults 15-8 on Hot Country Songs, becoming Young’s 12th top 10. The song increases by 10 percent to 21.2 million audience impressions and bullets at its No. 16 high on Country Airplay.

HIS ‘TIME’ Also on Top Country Albums, Darius Rucker’s new set, When Was the Last Time (Capitol Nashville/Universal Music Group Nashville), begins at No. 2 with 34,000 units in its opening week (30,000 in pure sales). It opens at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Rucker banks his sixth Top Country Albums top 10 in as many appearances, a history that includes four leaders: Learn to Live, the first country album for the Hootie & The Blowfish frontman, having debuted atop the chart dated Oct. 4, 2008, with 60,000 sold; Charleston, SC 1966 (101,000; Oct. 30, 2010); True Believers (83,000; June 8, 2013); and Southern Style (52,000; April 18, 2015). Home for the Holidays, Rucker’s 2014 seasonal set, peaked at No. 3.

CHART TRAFFIC Rounding out the Top Country Albums’ top three arrivals, A Long Way From Your Heart (Bossier City/Thirty Tigers) by Oklahoma roots-rock and country outfit The Turnpike Troubadours bounds in at No. 3 (18,000 units). It’s the band’s third entry on the chart and second top 10. 2012’s Goodbye Normal Street debuted and peaked at No. 14, and the act’s 2015 self-titled LP started and peaked at No. 3. A Long Way From Your Heart also launches at No. 1 on Americana/Folk Albums, where it’s the band’s first No. 1.

PRICE, NELSON RETURN Americana and country singer-songwriter Margo Price’s new album, All -American Made (Third Man), opens at No. 12 on Top Country Albums and No. 4 on Americana/Folk Albums (7,000 units).

The set follows Price’s rookie set, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, which started and peaked at No. 10 on Top Country Albums and No. 5 on Americana/Folk Albums (4,000 sold, April 16, 2016).

Also on Top Country Albums, the legendary Willie Nelson’s Willie and the Boys: Willie’s Stash, Vol. 2 (Legacy) debuts at No. 19 (6,000). The set, a collaboration among Nelson and sons Lukas and Micah, is the second of the Willie’s Stash series of archival recordings. The first, 2014’s December Day: Willie’s Stash, Vol. 1, with sister Bobbie Nelson, debuted and peaked at No. 26.

NEW TOP 10 Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data, welcomes one new top 10. Brett Young earns his third top 10 as “Like I Loved You” (BMLG Records) scampers 13-9. It rolls 14 percent to 22.3 million impressions and lifts 15-14 on Country Airplay.

Portugal. The Man's 'Feel It Still' Is Biggest Rock Crossover Hit in Five Years
http://www.billboard.com/articles/colum ... -crossover
10/31/2017 by Gary Trust

The song achieves what no hit has at radio since Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" in 2012.

Portugal. The Man adds two more tallies to its chart-topping resume, as "Feel It Still" hits No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts (dated Nov. 11).

The song, versatile for multiple radio formats with its '60s-reminiscent pop, rock and dance vibe, has now led six radio-based rankings, led by its command on the all-genre Radio Songs chart for a third week with 128 million in audience, up 11 percent, in the week ending Oct. 29, according to Nielsen Music. The song wins the Billboard Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer award, as it holds at its No. 4 high on the chart, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data.

"Feel" additionally tops Adult Pop Songs for a third week. It previously ruled Alternative Songs for 17 weeks, tying for the third-longest domination in the chart's 29-year history, and Adult Alternative Songs for 11 weeks.

Only one other song has hit No. 1 on Radio Songs, Pop Songs, Adult Pop Songs, Alternative Songs, Adult Alternative Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay (dating to the launch of the lattermost list, and youngest of those surveys, in August 2003). In 2012, Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," featuring Kimbra, led the respective charts for six, three, six, 12, 13 and six weeks. It also dominated the Hot 100 for eight weeks, eventually emerging as the top Hot 100 title of all of 2012.

"Somebody" additionally led a seventh airplay chart: Adult Contemporary, for a whopping 19 weeks. "Feel" lifts 21-18 on the Nov. 11 AC tally and should it top a seventh airplay chart, it would tie "Somebody" and only two other smashes for the most such reigns (since August 2003). The other two titles to crown seven airplay lists each: Pharrell Williams' "Happy," in 2014, and Adele's "Hello," in 2015-16.

Joining "Feel" with six-packs of airplay chart No. 1s are eight other songs (six of which added No. 1 runs on R&B-based rankings): Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" (2005); Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You" (2006); Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," featuring T.I. and Pharrell (2013); John Legend's "All of Me" (2014); Nico & Vinz's "Am I Wrong" (2014); Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" (2014); Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk!," featuring Bruno Mars (2015); and, another ubiquitous 2017 hit: Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber (which led three Latin airplay charts in addition to Radio Songs, Pop Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay).

Of those elite 12 songs to top at least six airplay charts, Gotye's "Somebody" and Portugal. The Man's "Feel" are the only hits to count commands on Alternative Songs among its reigns.

U2's Joshua Tree 2017 Tour Wraps With $316 Million Earned
http://www.billboard.com/articles/colum ... r-earnings
11/1/2017 by Bob Allen

More than 2.7 million tickets were sold to the 50-show tour.

U2 has wrapped the Joshua Tree Tour 2017 with a final five-city sweep through Latin America during October, the tour’s fourth leg since launching in May. With grosses reported by promoter Live Nation, overall sales from 50 performances earned more than $316 million in box office revenue from 2.7 million sold tickets worldwide. With those overall box office counts the jaunt is on track to be one of 2017’s top grossing tours, a familiar situation for the iconic Irish band that has ranked among the top 5 tours of the year seven times since 2000 -- four times at No. 1.

Sales from the tour’s final leg through Latin America, reported during the past week, score U2 a slot on the weekly recap of Hot Tours (see list below) based on $69.6 million in reported revenue from more than half a million sold tickets at five stadiums. The last venue on the trek, the Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil, logged a $32 million take and now ranks as the highest-grossing concert engagement of the year by a solo headliner. With sellout crowds in attendance at all four shows, the combined attendance count at the São Paulo stadium reached 278,718.

During the five-month trek to commemorate the 30th anniversary of U2’s 1987 album The Joshua Tree, the band played each song from the album at every concert. Each performance was staged in a stadium -- 38 of them in three continents. The first leg of the tour, set in North America, began on May 12 and continued through July 1, hitting 15 venues in the U.S. and two in Canada. A headlining turn at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee on July 9 was also included in the opening leg of the tour.

The second leg was set in European markets, beginning with a two-show stint in London on July 8 and 9. Brussels hosted the final European performance on Aug. 1, and the tour resumed on Sept. 3 with a run through eight American stadiums during September. The final set of 10 concerts in Latin America kicked off on Oct. 3 in Mexico City, followed by performances in Colombia, Argentina and Chile before the final four-night stand in São Paulo.

Regional Mexican and banda singer Luis Coronel debuts at No. 2 on Top Latin Albums (dated Nov. 11) with his third studio album, Ahora Soy Yo, opening with 6,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Oct. 26, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 5,000 were in traditional album sales.

The set is Coronel’s third top five-charting effort, following his last studio set, the chart-topper Quiero Ser Tu Dueño in 2014 (one week at No. 1) and his No. 2-peaking debut Con La Frente En Alto in 2013.

Ahora Soy Yo’s first-week sales were aided by a series of in-store appearances by Coronel and gives the singer the second-best sales frame for a Regional Mexican set this year. It trails only the arrival of Christian Nodal's Me Deje Llevar (6,000).

oronel's album was led by a pair of top 10 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart: “Dime Qué Se Siente,” which peaked at No. 4 in April, and "Tal Como Eres," which hit No. 9 in October.

Over on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, Ahora Soy Yo opens at No. 1, giving the 21-year-old his third straight chart topper, following his first two releases.

Valenzuela's Fifth Top Five Hit: Elsewhere on Regional Mexican Songs, singer Remmy Valenzuela rises 12-10 on the chart with “Loco Enamorado” (4.7 million in audience in the week ending Oct. 29, up 10 percent). It's Valenzuela's fifth top 10 effort. The song concurrently jumps 39-27 on Hot Latin Songs.

CNCO's 'Mamita' Debuts: Elsewhere, CNCO picks up its fifth hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart, debuting at No. 42 with "Mamita." The track -- which was released on Oct. 20 -- is the first offering from the boy band's upcoming album, due out in 2018. "Mamita's" debut is driven almost entirely by streams and download sales (2,000 sold in the week ending Oct. 26), with only a smattering of airplay.

Becky G's a Gainer: Becky G's "Mayores," featuring Bad Bunny, holds at its No. 5 peak on Hot Latin Songs, but posts gains in airplay, sales and streams, earning the chart's Greatest Gainer trophy for the week. The track likely increases following Becky G's hosting duties on the Oct. 26 Latin American Music Awards (broadcast live on ABC), as well as her performance of the song on the show alongside Bad Bunny. The track is up 14 percent in downloads (3,000 sold) and 5 percent in streams (6 million).

Plus, country newcomer Devin Dawson enters the top 10.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Margo Price, signed to Jack White's Third Man Records, earns the highest debut on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated Nov. 11), entering at No. 6 on the strength of her sophomore album, All American Made.

The Emerging Artists chart uses the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.

All American Made opens at No. 12 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 89 on the Billboard 200 with 7,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Price's debut, Midwest Farmer's Daughter, opened with 4,000 units in April 2016 (and at No. 10 on Top Country Albums). The new set concurrently starts at No. 3 on Vinyl Albums and No. 4 on Americana/Folk Albums.

The new album, which features Willie Nelson on the track "Learning to Lose," arrives three months after the surprise release of her four-song EP, Weakness (also released on Third Man).

Dua Lipa returns to the No. 1 spot on Emerging Artists for a fifth total week, as the pop singer-songwriter's breakout hit "New Rules" continues to scale the Hot 100, reaching a new peak of No. 34. The track jumps by 8 percent in both airplay (to 24 million radio audience impressions) and streaming (to 15 million U.S. clicks) and 7 percent to 17,000 downloads sold.

Rounding out the Emerging Artists chart's top five, last week's leader, Carly Pearce, dips to No. 2, LANCO climbs 4-3, Russell Dickerson falls 3-4 and GoldLink holds at No. 5.

Among other Emerging Artists moves, Devin Dawson enters the top 10, leaping 23-9, as his first charted single, "All on Me," reaches new peaks on Country Airplay (No. 19) and Hot Country Songs (No. 21). The single rises in all metrics, up 10 percent to 13.4 million in airplay audience; 8 percent to 3.2 million U.S. streams; and 6 percent to 5,000 downloads sold.

Also notably, Michigan rock group Greta Van Fleet vaults 39-14, as the band's debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, debuts at Nos. 10 and 182 on the Hard Rock Albums and Billboard 200 charts, respectively, with 5,000 units. The set was released on April 21 but received newfound buzz thanks to a profile in the Wall Street Journal. The group's next EP, From the Fires, is due Nov. 10.
