Mario,

appreciate all the information provided.

Can I bother you for a little more information.

Does Oricon or any other reliable chart company publish a sales based (or even airplay) Chart purely consisting of international artists?

If so would you be able to provide details of chart positions and chart runs for specific artists, please?

Do you have any good chart data for the period prior to 1968 in Japan. Which would be the most legitimate chart to use to reflect the most popular hits in Japan - either for all artists or purely international artists?

Is there any way of estimating the record sales of artists whose careers pre-date the Oricon era?

Regards

cuz i think is really strange that RIAJ would change the certifications level to a HIGHER level while all markets are going down (or rising just a lil' bit), it makes no sense

How many times I have to tell you and prove? The RIAJ 2002 already listed G - 100,000, Platinum - 200,000...
If you really read the charts, the Japanese sales market are still strong...

my source is RIAJ. Both national and international albums have now the same level : 100K for Gold and 250K for Platinum. But I don't know yet when it changed. Probably between end of 2003 and 2004. So only the platinum award changed
