You're wrong. In Italy certifications are based on sales, and it's up to FIMI/Gfk to certify a record once it actually sold the right amount. Adele's 25 is 4 PLATINUM (220K sold so far) since week 1 of 2016, Il Volo's "L'amore si muove" (101K so far) is 2 PLATINUM since week 4 of 2016

I resume this topic to signal you that after 45 years, the Superclassifica album (the Italian comprehensive albums chart) by TV Sorrisi e Canzoni was suppressed for unknown reasons (maybe the costs). The last #1 album of the chart was Acrobati by Daniele Silvestri.
Now, TV Sorrisi e Canzoni publishes the FIMI charts, keeping the mark "Superclassifica" on the top of the page.

Indeed....

But a sad news balanced by, hopefully, a positive one:

Italian market in 2015 (trade value in mln euros)

Total Physical market: 88.1 (+17%)
- vinyl 6.1 (+56%)

Digital download: 19.0 (-5%)

Streaming 41.2 (+54%)
- subscription 27.0 (+63%)
- ad-supported 14.2 (+38%)

Total Digital market: 60.2 (+29%)

Total Italian market: 148.3 (+21%)

The PDF file can be downloaded at the bottom of THIS page.

So album sales are increasing as well as streaming? :o

Digital sales seem the ones being affected, but they still decreased less than last year.

This is great :o

All the "in stores" italian artists do are having some effects maybe?

About digital sales, i also expected a harsher drop...of course streaming is really taking over in italy too.

To be honest this is no news. I mean... artists were always forced by labels to do them. This probably happens more frequently now than in the past, but still. Nobody is forcing people to buy and I think it's really important for young artists :D

Even Elisa is doing it... and she can be considered quite established, I guess. Even though she is not Laura.

Imagine Laura Pausini or Tiziano Ferro doing an instore tour nowadays. That would be crazy. I think they should, especially Laura. Tiziano is still holding on quite well, after all.

Yeah for some artists like Tiziano, Vasco or Ligabue would be crazy to do an InstoreTour...

Btw i read online that for some artists you're not forced to buy the album where the Instore is (you can bring your copy from home for example)...but for many other artists it is requested you buy a copy and show the receipt if you want the album to be signed.
In any case i was joking  Instore can help but i suspect we're talking about a few thousands copies...i think they can help on a weekly basis to gain some positions on the album chart, especially if it's a low-sales period.

It must be a glitch of the FIMI website (or at least i hope so). If you search for the current week in the archive section you can see the whole top100

And is there a way to see the singles Top 100?
I know there was one in the past where one could modify the url slightly and thus have access to the positions 51-100, does it still work? The Top 50 has become so slow since the incorporation of streaming that I'm just hungry for more Italian music from the lower half (these lower positions in most countries are actually more interesting nowadays)!

Year-end charts for 2016 are out.

SINGLES

1) Sia - Cheap Thrills
2) Alan Walker - Faded
3) Alvaro Soler - Sofia
4) Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend
5) J-Ax & Fedez - Vorrei Ma Non Posto

ALBUMS

1) Mina & Celentano - Le Migliori
2) Tiziano Ferro - Il Mestiere Della Vita
3) Ligabue - Made In Italy
4) Vasco Rossi - VascoNonStop
5) Alessandra Amoroso - Vivere A Colori

As expected foreign artists dominates the singles countdown and italian artists dominates the albums one. It's great to see two veterans/icons with the best selling album of the year (their first other collaboration album was a smash back in 1998 and is still to this day one of the best selling albums EVER in Italy). Again, as usual albums released at the end of the year kinda "saves" the situation and end up very high on the year-end chart.

For anyone interested the charts can be downloaded at THIS link.

EDIT
I forgot to mention...i big shout-out to zago and his AMAZING work estimating italian sales..this year too he got the top twenty 99% right. And even outside the top20 looking at his estimations up until week 52 of 2016 and comparing them with the official YEC of FIMI you only have to switch a few positions here and there (the more you go down on the chart the more album sales are close to each other)...but in the end very good work

Another Sanremo festival has gone, Itunes is obviously dominated by songs from the contestants or people who simply were guests (like Tiziano Ferro for example).

The winner is Francesco Gabbani with "Occidentali's Karma" who will represent Italy at the 2017 Eurovision contest. The song on Itunes at the moment:

Occidentali's Karma

iTunes:
#1 Italy
#1 Malta
#4 Switzerland
#38 Luxembourg
#86 Netherlands
#96 Spain
#112 Germany
#143 France

Gabbani is also #15 with last year's winning song (in the New section at Sanremo) "Amen".
