Swift's career U.S. album sales stand at 31.4 million (RIAA total is 26.5 million).
So it is interesting to see that with the exception of the EP Holiday Collection all her albums are up to date relatively to the RIAA certifications, and apparently curiously there are no "extra platinums" in consequence of Taylor Swift's label eventual use of sales of songs (stream, download etc) in her albums certifications... Maybe it was a Taylor Swift decision...?

In these days we never know everytime an catalog album is updated from where the extra platinum award(s) came, if from just real album sales or from a mathematical formula using the sales of songs included in the album...

Jenni Rivera Sold 1.3 Million Albums After Her Death
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... wing-death
12/8/2017 by Marjua Estevez

A look at the Mexican American icon's posthumous success, five years after her tragic passing.

At the height of her career, Jenni Rivera emerged as a Mexican-American icon on the verge of a major crossover.

As the first-ever Latina to ink a production deal to star in her own TV series on a major U.S. network, Rivera was also slated to secure her own residency in Las Vegas. One fatal evening, however, ended with the singer dying in a plane crash in Mexico, and December 9, 2012 forever marked Rivera's deferred dream and untimely death at age 43.

But the music world has a way of paying homage once one of our greats dearly depart us. While Jenni was remarkably and visibly loved by her fans not just for her music, but accessibility (read: authentic, imperfect and down-to-earth), it wasn't until she passed that she scored a series of No. 1 albums on the Billboard charts.

As we near the five-year anniversary of her tragic death this Saturday (Dec. 9), here are some of Jenni's most successful moments by the numbers -- including a breakdown of her posthumous charting accomplishments.

Total album sales:

2.46 million albums sold in the U.S. (according to Nielsen Music)

Total singles on Hot Latin Songs and Top 10 Hot Latin Songs charts:

24 total entries on Hot Latin Songs

Two top 10 hits ("Ahora Que Estuviste Lejos" and "La Misma Gran Senora" -- the latter hit the top 10 after her death)

Total charting albums:

18 on the Top Latin Albums chart

12 of those albums went top 10, and seven reached No. 1

Posthumous:

1.3 million albums sold from December 3, 2012 to present day

Six of her seven No. 1 albums on Top Latin Albums all came after her death. They are as follows:

Jenni -- one week at No. 1 (2008)
La Misma Gran Senora -- eight weeks at No. 1 (debuted in 2012 after she passed)
Joyas Prestadas: Pop -- two weeks at No.1 (2013)
1969 - Siempre: En Vivo Desde Monterrey - Parte 1 -- seven weeks at No.1 (2013)
1969 - Siempre: En Vivo Desde Monterrey - Parte 2 -- two weeks at No. 1 (2014)
1 Vida - 3 Historias: Metamorfosis - Despedida de Culican - Jenni Vive 2013 -- one week at No. 1 (2014)
Paloma Negra Desde Monterrey -- one week at No. 1 (2016)

If I am not mistaken, Fearless has since been certified Diamond.

a few years ago, it would have been totally possible for him to surpass Mariah and Céline on the ss list... it looks impossible today in that sales climate.

https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... ling-album
2/15/2018 by Keith Caulfield

Each of his five of his solo albums have now sold a million copies in the U.S.

The Notorious B.I.G. scores his fifth million-selling album in the U.S., as his 2007 release Greatest Hits climbs past the million sales mark. The set sold 4,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 8 (up a whopping 339 percent), according to Nielsen Music, pushing the album’s sales to 1.003 million.

The album’s big sales surge is owed to how the title was sale priced for only $4.99 in the iTunes Store during the tracking week.

On the Billboard 200 albums chart, the set climbs 158-74 with 8,000 equivalent album units earned (up 61 percent).

All five of The Notorious B.I.G.’s solo albums have now each sold at least a million copies. His best-seller is Life After Death (5.36 million), followed by Ready to Die (3.87 million), Born Again (1.96 million) and Duets: The Final Chapter (1.17 million). Life After Death, Born Again and Greatest Hits all reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Ready to Die peaked at No. 15, and Duets: The Final Chapter topped out at No. 3.

The Notorious B.I.G. has one more album in his catalog, the 2017 collaborative set The King & I with Faith Evans. It has sold 24,000 copies and topped out at No. 65.

In total, The Notorious B.I.G. has sold 13.4 million albums in the U.S.

(1) Garth Brooks: The sales shown for his albums on this list only includes the original release on Capitol Records. After his lengthy hiatus, his catalog became available again through his own Pearl Records imprint and digitally through GhostTunes. These sales are unknown, and some not even reported to SoundScan.
(2) In the early 2000s, many previously released albums were digitally remastered and re-issued with a new bar code. For the most part, the sales of the original and the remaster have been combined in the SoundScan database. However, the albums at #'s 119, 138 & 161 still had separate scan totals on the last RTD leaked chart from July 2013, and this is assumed to still be the case. The combined totals are also shown.
(3) The issue above also affects 2 albums that would make it onto this list if scan totals were combined: Pink Floyd's "The Wall" 6.12m, and Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" 6.02m.
(4) AC/DC's 1980 release "Back In Black" has now sold 7.60m in the SoundScan era, but is missing from this list because of a record label change in 2003, which means they cannot merge the data.

Very true

But Fantasia has remained an anticipated artist in her genre. American Idol has produced some true stars.

some of the release years are wrong For Example Garth Brooks' Double Live was released November 17th 1998 not 1996 or Metallica's And Justice For All... was released August 25th 1988 not 1995 also Tony Braxton's Secrets was released June 18th 1996 not 1995 and those are only three examples

Backstreet Boys Earn First Pop Songs Chart Hit Since 2007 With 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... g-my-heart
5/28/2018 by Gary Trust

The boy band extends its span on the chart to a record 22 years & six months.

Backstreet Boys are back on Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart, as "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" debuts at No. 32 on the list dated June 2.

The band earns its first entry on the ranking since 2007, when "Inconsolable" reached No. 34 that October.

BSB's new hit is its 19th overall on Pop Songs, dating to its first, the No. 35-peaking "We've Got It Goin' On," in November 1995. The group extends its span of appearing on Pop Songs to a record 22 years and six months, narrowly passing Madonna's stretch of 22 years and four months, from 1992 to 2015.

The Pop Songs chart, which began in 1992 (and in 2017 celebrated its 25th anniversary), measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 158 mainstream top 40 stations.

Backstreet Boys boast nine Pop Songs top 10s, including the No. 1s "I Want It That Way" (for two weeks in 1999) and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" (one week in 2000). The band also reached No. 2 with "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" in 1997 and No. 3 with "As Long as You Love Me" in 1998.

The new single follows BSB's last album, In a World Like This, which debuted and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, marking the group's ninth top 10 (encompassing its entire output). The act has sold 31.3 million albums to date in the U.S., the 24th-best total among all artists since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.
