Very few units compared to singles and albums. Maybe as low as 50 to make the top 50.
Depends on time of year and the artist.

As I said it depends on the popularity of the artist and when the video is released. Some music DVDs might sell around 10,000 copies for a few weeks and then sales nosedive. Outside the top 5 positions sales fall off dramatically.

When does the BPI website update new certifications? Is it today or?

I understand that @Brits twitter on a Friday (today) reveal some songs/albums that have got a new certification but when does the BPI website update with unrevealed certifications?

Hope I make sense

The latest certifications are up on the website now. The website doesn't seem to automatically display the latest certifications in strict date order so you will need to click on the Certfied header twice (clicking it once will list all certifications in date order from 30 June 1973 to presumably the present, clicking the header again will show certifications in desending date order from the most recent, which is now showing as 2 November 2018).

Sales from April 1994 on the OCC sales database. BPI get their info from the OCC. Previously they depended on record company shipments. Of course the majority of "sales" would be from 2004.

A long list of 35 singles and 16 albums receive BPI awards this week, including several Christmas hits.
After 14 years Abba have finally got a Silver award for Waterloo single.
Silver album awards for Cliff Richard, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison.

Brian05 -- Thanks for that information. 'Waterloo' is long over-due a UK Sales Award. It was entitled to
a UK Silver Award in 1974, but it was never given it. Which is why its 2004 to 2018 Sales have been allowed
a Silver Disk now. (In 1974 only the 'Waterloo' Album got a UK Silver Award - 60,000+ Sales).

finally legend of bob marley has a certification worthy of his status and more realistic, 1324 appearances in the top 200; it passes directly from six to twelve, right?

Any info on whether the BPI will update their database anytime soon, they still haven't posted last Friday's certifications? Or will they do it next year? thanks!

Bonjovi81 - According to my 'UK Platinum Albums' List, 'Legend' was on 11 Awards before it rose to 12.

'Rumours' went from 11 Awards to 13, on the same day that 'Legend' got its 12th - Friday 21st December.

We use the date on the file they send us. That was dated 21 so we used 21.

Elvis's biggest selling - and best songs are from 1969 to 1972...Suspicious Minds, The Wonder of You and Always on My Mind.
This period he looked ridiculus and not the cool figure he was in the 1950s.
