JimCastor sure does write like him and can't cope with anything topping MJ albums.

Ahaha! Maybe you are right, maybe not.
Anyway, I don't agree with him when he says
jimcastor wrote:It's like someone picked
that album sometimes in the 90s specifically to make it "overtake" Thriller
but he is right when says
jimcastor wrote:Eagles Gh's history of RIAA certifications are suspect.
Also, probably "suspect" is not the right word

I mean Thriller sold/stream more than Eagles GH so EPIC just needs to re-certifie Thriller. Does anyone has any idea where it stands as far certifications go by RIAA?
As a singer, songwriter and producer Bruno Mars has sold over 169 million singles

How is that possible?
I am always stunned and disconcerted by the fact that all the media create the "big title", the "great news", to make a sensation, but nobody asks how it is possible that, knowing those facts.
Same here. Media is not interested in how these certifications were possible they only seem to be interested
in knocking down Jackson even going as far as to report that Eagles Greatest Hits is now the best selling album in
the world, ignoring that RIAA's certifications are about US sales only.

They say streaming explains the huge jump for Eagles but they are not that big on Spotify let alone
YouTube or Pandora so where do these supposed streams come from?
IN fact Thriller outstreams Greatest Hits on Spotify 3 to one
it has more than 1 billion streams while GH only about 330 million.
This is from Aug 20 2018

On YouTube the difference is even bigger.

Image

There is no way with Thriller outstreaming Greatest Hits by such a huge margin that Greatest Hits
is ahead of Thriller by 5 million units. Impossible.

In fact Eagles is not even the second biggest album of all time that's Dark Side of the Moon
according to chartmasters dot org

Right. In reality, this 38 million number would fit more its real number of copies sold. Worlwide.
Which makes it the biggest selling compilation of all time, above Legend, 1, Gold... Even if near 33 or 34 million come from US and Canada. This is the the reason why I consider the GH 1971-1975 more like a "local" phenomenon than like a worldwide juggernault...
Cheers.

WOW!
Thriller single 6 million copies.

6x Multi-Platinum | August 23, 2018
5x Multi-Platinum | August 23, 2018
4x Multi-Platinum | August 23, 2018
3x Multi-Platinum | August 23, 2018
2x Multi-Platinum | August 23, 2018
Platinum | August 23, 2018

Gold | November 8, 2005

No doubt someone will now add up all those track sales and add them onto the Thriller album.

So come on Apple/Universal and upgrade The Beatles singles and albums. They have NO digital singles or digital albums certifications.

Does Epic know how to certify double albums? Essential has sold 2.6 million. It should be 5xP.

You're right Thebigham, and Brian05 too : Capitol must update The Beatles certifications ! They miss 20 platinum plaques, at the minimum...
The latest certifications demonstrates, if needed, for some blind MJ stans, that there isn't a kind of plot against him...

Maybe many copies were bought from foreigner buyers on Amazon and/or similar website and RIAA doesn't count those sales (except for the military).

Unless the Soundscan numbers are not so correct as people believe...

And also no update for "Number Ones"...?

And these album certifications, had or didn't had digital streams of their songs used in the upgrades...?
Because if they had then even more mysterious are the Eagles recente album certifications...
Would help if the Eagles also had their songs certified...

I wonder why the estate bypasses Number Ones???

Almost all of MJ's albums have been certified according to shipments and combined sales and streams except that one...

The RIAA uses Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman, LLP to audit sales submitted by the record label.

Can you add 19m onto 33m to get total of 52m for Thriller album?
Or is that double counting? Or too simplistic?

Do RIAA now include streams for both singles and albums certifications?

You have to divide 19 million singles by 10.

And those would be your sales to "add" to the album.

So that would make it 1.9 million album equivalent units, possibly putting it over 34-35 million.

Then you add streams and whatever it sells by the end of the year.

If 1-2 million more streams gets added and another shipment, that would tie it again.
