The Notorious B.I.G. Scores Fifth Million-Selling Album
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... ling-album
2/15/2018 by Keith Caulfield

Each of his five of his solo albums have now sold a million copies in the U.S.

The Notorious B.I.G. scores his fifth million-selling album in the U.S., as his 2007 release Greatest Hits climbs past the million sales mark. The set sold 4,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 8 (up a whopping 339 percent), according to Nielsen Music, pushing the album’s sales to 1.003 million.

The album’s big sales surge is owed to how the title was sale priced for only $4.99 in the iTunes Store during the tracking week.

On the Billboard 200 albums chart, the set climbs 158-74 with 8,000 equivalent album units earned (up 61 percent).

All five of The Notorious B.I.G.’s solo albums have now each sold at least a million copies. His best-seller is Life After Death (5.36 million), followed by Ready to Die (3.87 million), Born Again (1.96 million) and Duets: The Final Chapter (1.17 million). Life After Death, Born Again and Greatest Hits all reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Ready to Die peaked at No. 15, and Duets: The Final Chapter topped out at No. 3.

The Notorious B.I.G. has one more album in his catalog, the 2017 collaborative set The King & I with Faith Evans. It has sold 24,000 copies and topped out at No. 65.

In total, The Notorious B.I.G. has sold 13.4 million albums in the U.S.

I made a list of best selling rap albums based on SPS release during 2008 to 2017.

These are estimations, not based on anything in particular. But i believe they represent a good estimation.

If you can complete this list providing data, especially on TEA numbers for an album, it will be great.

Pandora Predictions: Rico Nasty, Cupcakke & Cuban Doll Lead New Class of Female Rappers
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... cuban-doll
2/27/2018 by Emily Blake

Here are the latest predictions for future success on the Billboard charts from Pandora & Next Big Sound.

2017 was a banner year for female rappers, as Cardi B became the first female rapper to have a solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in almost 20 years and Rapsody released an album that would go on to be a best rap album nominee at the Grammys. There was even a high-profile rap beef between Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj that briefly dominated headlines.

Will 2018 be as fortunate for female MCs? Judging by the artists who have appeared so far this year on the Pandora Predictions Chart and Pandora Trendsetters Chart, two charts by data analytics company Next Big Sound that track up-and-coming artists, it’s looking very likely.

The Pandora Predictions Chart uses social growth to forecast the rising artists who are most likely to make their debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the next year, while the Trendsetters Chart is the list of the highest performing up-and-coming artists based on their rate of weekly artist station adds on Pandora. Charts are updated every Friday on Next Big Sound and every Tuesday on Billboard.

Over the past couple of months, there has been no shortage of female rappers on the two charts. And considering these charts have previously been home to Dua Lipa, Khalid and more, it’s a good bet that they’re headed for mainstream success.

Below are five female rappers who have appeared on the charts so far this year:

Cuban Doll

Currently at No. 18 on the Predictions Chart is Dallas-born rapper Cuban Doll, who also goes by Aaliyah Keef, a mash-up of the two musical legends that inspired her December 2017 mixtape of the same name. (“Aaliyah is my cute side and she a legend, and Keef is my favorite rapper,” she told Noisey last year.)

Apparently, the combination is a successful one. In the roughly three months since Aaliyah Keef’s release, Cuban Doll has added more than 270,000 followers on Instagram and seeded over 370,000 spins on Pandora. She’s currently seeing over 1,200 Pandora artist station adds per week, which means it could be just a matter of weeks until she moves over to the Pandora Trendsetters Chart.

Rico Nasty

Rising Maryland rapper Rico Nasty has gotten the hip-hop world hooked on her unique brand of what she calls sugar trap. The 20-year-old born Maria Kelly made a name for herself in 2017 thanks to the release of two mixtapes -- Tales of Tacobella and Sugar Trap 2 -- and a handful of high-profile features.

In April, she was featured on Lil Yachty’s Fate of the Furious track “Mamacita,” and a few months later, “Poppin” -- which would go on to appear on Sugar Trap 2 -- appeared an episode of HBO’s buzzy comedy Insecure.

That buzz hasn’t died down and only got stronger after the release of her single “Smack a Bitch,” which helped Rico debut on the Predictions Chart in January.

Cupcakke

Chicago native Cupcakke got the rap world talking in 2015 with raunchy tracks like “Vagina” and “Deepthroat,” but it’s her more introspective latest album, Ephorize, that’s getting her some more serious attention.

Since self-releasing Ephorize on Jan. 5, Cupcakke’s army of fans -- who call themselves Slurpers -- has grown rapidly, adding over 30,000 followers on Instagram, seeing around 50,000 visitors to her Wikipedia page and seeding over 180,000 spins on Pandora. She’s currently seeing over 1,100 artist station adds per week too.

Blimes Brixton

San Francisco native Sam McDonald entered the hip-hop world battle rapping under the name Oh Blimey but recently changed her name and changed direction to a more radio-friendly sound. Her biggest hit so far in this new phase? “Come Correct,” a collaboration with Seattle MC Gifted Gab. (More on her below).

The power of “Come Correct” has been formidable. Month-over-month, she’s seen a 700 percent increase in Pandora spins and a 4,000 percent boost in artist station adds. On social media, she’s added well over 25,000 fans on Facebook, as well as more than 5,000 followers on Twitter. She made her Predictions debut on the Feb. 9-dated chart.

Gifted Gab

Not to be confused with Bay Area rapper The Gift of Gab, Gifted Gab is the only female member of Seattle rap collective Moor Gang. She’s been hailed as one of the most promising rappers in the Emerald City for a while, but it’s only recently that she’s gained more mainstream attention, with the release of the aforementioned “Come Correct.”

In the past month, Gab has added over 23,000 fans on Facebook and 6,000 followers on Twitter. She made her debut on the Predictions Chart alongside collaborator Blimes Brixton on Feb. 9.

Biggie's Biggest: The Notorious B.I.G.'s Top 15 Billboard Hot 100 Hits
https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... t-100-hits
3/9/2018 by Erika Ramirez

Today (Mar. 9) marks 21 years since The Notorious B.I.G.'s untimely death, but the celebrated MC continues to live on through his music. You can hear his influence on nearly every other rapper in the game. And Biggie not only left a mark on fans and fellow hip-hip artists, but also on the Billboard charts. In addition to the chart love earned by his two studio albums (Ready to Die and Life After Death), he also helped launch the careers of other artists including 112, Total, Lil Kim and Junior M.A.F.I.A.

As we remember his sad passing, Billboard celebrates his life's work by counting down Biggie's top 15 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

15. "Stop The GunFight"
Trapp featuring 2pac, Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 77 (1997)

When lacing an album with messages that bring awareness to a community's violence, Trapp decided to borrow 2pac and Biggie's verses from their collaborative song recorded four years prior. Although it's weird that a violence-awareness song features both rappers rhyming about drugs and bullets, the track charted on the Hot 100. "Stop the Gunfight" is one of two songs on the similarly titled album that features both rappers.

14. "Runnin' (From Tha Police)"
2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Dramacydal, & Stretch
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 81 (1997)

Before the highly-publicized west coast v. east coast rivalry, both rappers recorded this rare studio collaboration (see above). Unfortunately, due to the negative criticism surrounding gangsta rap that followed through their feud, the collaboration was shelved until a year later. You can find this track on the compilation album, One Million Strong.

13. "Nasty Girl"
The Notorious B.I.G. featuring Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge, & Avery Storm
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 44 (2006)

Biggie's most recent Hot 100 hit comes from his posthumous remix/studio album, Duets: The Final Chapter. Producer Jazze Pha put a spin on Biggie's bars from the "Life After Death" track "Nasty Boy," and recruited an all star cast including Jagged Edge, Diddy, Avery Storm and Nelly.

12. "Going Back to Cali"
The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 26 (1998)

B.I.G. didn't let his infamous rap feud with Pac and Suge Knight stop him from showing love to the west coast. Diddy shouts out the fine things in the west: "weather, women and the weed."

11. "Juicy/Unbelievable"
The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 27 (1994)

The world got its first taste of Biggie on the Mtume "Juicy Fruit" sample, "Juicy." On the first single from his debut album Ready to Die, featuring Total, Biggie walks us through his life from his days dealing drugs to finally becoming the rapper he dreamt of becoming. "Now I'm in the limelight/ Cause I rhyme tight," Biggie raps.

10. "Get Money"
Junior M.A.F.I.A. featuring The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 17 (1996)

Biggie was a key factor in introducing his childhood friends, Junior M.A.F.I.A., to the hip-hop scene and rolling out the red carpet for one of hip-hop's notable female rappers, Lil Kim. "Get Money," kicked off by Biggie, remains the trio's second-biggest hit to date.

9. "Runnin' (Dying To Live)"
Tupac Featuring The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 19 (2003)

Leave it to Eminem to revive a collaboration with once-friends, 2Pac and Biggie. "Runnin' (Dying to Live)" contains a high-pitched chorus of Edgar Winter's "Dying to Live" and snippets from interviews with both rappers on which they speak on each other and the infamous West Coast vs. East Coast rivalry.

8. "Victory"
Puff Daddy & The Family featuring The Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 19 (1998)

Diddy complemented Biggie's final verse ever recorded with a theatrical music video. The nearly eight-minute-long video pays homage to the film The Running Man. Director Marcus Nispel blends images of Biggie's "One More Chance" with Diddy running through the streets of 3002 A.D. Reports say the production cost ran up to $2.7 million -- a total that's acceptable only for a legend.

7. "Can't You See"
Total featuring The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 13 (1995)

A year after making their debut on his first single, "Juicy," Biggie returned the favor and appeared on Total's debut single, "Can't You See." The trio kept it in the Bad Boy family by recruiting Diddy to lay down the soundscapes. Total saw chart success with its first single, same as Biggie.

6. "Only You"
112 Featuring The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 13 (1996)

Call it the Biggie touch. A year after Total's "Can't You See," featuring the rapper, hit No. 13 on the Hot 100, 112's "Only You" reached the same rank with the help of Biggie, as well. B.I.G.'s name resonated beyond the hip-hop world with yet another R&B feature.

5. "Big Poppa/Warning"
The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 6 (1995)

Not a year into his career, Biggie earned a Grammy nomination and Billboard Music Award for his second single, "Big Poppa." One of Biggie's classics samples "Between the Sheets" by the Isley Brothers.

4. "One More Chance/Stay With Me"
The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 2 (1995)

B.I.G. showed the Grammys who really lost when he earned his first Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs No. 1 and Hot 100 No. 2 with "One More Chance/Stay With Me." At the time, the song tied Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson's "Scream" for the highest Hot 100 debut of all time, when it entered at No. 5.

3. "Hypnotize"
The Notorious B.I.G.
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 1 for three weeks (1997)

Though both of his albums were classics, it was Biggie's sophomore album, Life After Death, that earned him his first Hot 100 No. 1 and yet another Grammy nomination. Biggie put us on to the good life way before Jay and 'Ye's luxury rhymes.

2. "Been Around the World"
Puff Daddy & The Family (featuring The Notorious B.I.G. and Ma$e)
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 2 (1998)

Diddy makes sure to commemorate his late friend every chance he gets. The majority of Diddy's 1997 studio album, No Way Out, focused on Biggie and his death. The album's first single nabbed the No. 2 slot on the Hot 100 as well as No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart. And who can forget Diddy and Ma$e's infamous shiny suits in the music video -- and what later became known as the beginning of Diddy and J. Lo's relationship.

1. "Mo Money Mo Problems"
The Notorious B.I.G. featuring Puff Daddy, Ma$e and Kelly Price
Hot 100 Peak Position: No. 1 for two weeks (1997)

Bad Boy shined bright in the jiggy era, especially with this late 90s hip-hop anthem. When Biggie's "Mo Money Mo Problems" hit No. 1, it bumped his own tribute song out of the top slot. "I'll Be Missing You" fell 1-2 that week, after spending 11 straight weeks at No. 1. Who better to move "I'll Be Missing You" out of the No. 1 slot than B.I.G. himself, right?

The Notorious B.I.G.'s biggest Billboard Hot 100 hits is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100, through the rankings for March 18, 2017. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over the years, eras are weighted to account for different chart turnover rates over various periods.

I appreciate the people who are still posting their estimations in this thread. I’ve been looking at this thread for like 4 years lol

Does anyone have SPS estimations for all of Logics albums?

Just curious because I saw that Under Pressure went gold I’m just curious if any of his albums are getting close to platinum giving his all of a sudden massive spike in popularity.
