286 Under-Certified Albums: They need an updated RIAA Cert

This is a list I started in October 2007 here at UKMix.

It's a list of obviously under-certified albums using SoundScan figures.

Examples:

Skrillex's "Scary Monsters" has SoundScanned over 500k, but it's uncertified. It should be certified Gold.

Train's Save Me San Francisco has SoundScanned 1,070,412 albums, but it's still Gold. It should be re-certified 1xp.

Michael Buble's Call Me Irresponsible has SoundScanned 2,336,819 units, but it's still 1xp. It should be re-certified 2xp.

This list is NOT for albums that many feel should be re-certified due to music club sales.

Example:

A 3xp album has SoundScanned 2.9 million. It has 600k in sales with BMG, so there should be 600k in sales with Columbia House. It should be re-certified 4xp.

I'm not going to go into all that. This list is large enough.

Numerous Motown albums have never been certified with the RIAA. Albums by Stevie Wonder, The Supremes and Diana Ross were not certified. I will not list these albums unless I have a confirmed SoundScan figure.

The original list had 112 albums. The 2nd list had 281 albums. The 3rd version has grown to 327 albums!

From the original list, 26 albums were certified. From the 2nd list, 30 albums were certified.

Labels in the past few years have been spending their certification money on certifying digital singles so many catalog albums remain under-certified.

Remember, the RIAA is not responsible for certifying these albums. It is up to the record label to contact the RIAA and start the certification process.

This list is not 100% accurate. I don't have every under-certified album. I don't have up-to-date SoundScan figures for all these albums.

If you know of an under-certified album based on a SoundScan figure, please list the artist, album, SoundScan figure and the date of the figure.

Thanks to all who contributed to the original Under-Certified Albums threads!

The carefully thread with regard to under-certified cds according to established SoundScan quantities. Not only a twine for functions who've not necessarily had their own albums re-certified in years.

The "Led Zeppelin, Very Best Of - 2 cds, 1,427,000, yet 1xp", is actually just an earlier Soundscan figure for this entry/album "Early Days, Later Days - 2cds, 1,603,000, yet 2xp", that I think you've also mixed up with the Early Days: Best of Led Zeppelin Volume One 1xP RIAA Certification.

^Lol. I'm confused.

So it's 1 album. 2cds. Should be 3xp?? What SS figure should I use?

No, the Soundscans figures are for the same 2 CD album (Early & Latter Days) the 1,427 is from 2006, the 1,608 is from 2007. Although on top of this, you seem to have matched the 1,427 figure to a 1CD album which is just called Early Days and is certified 1xp on the RIAA. Hope that makes sense!
