thebigham wrote:^Probably not.

RCA hasn't certified Brown's "Fortune" Gold.

And WBR hasn't re-certified most of Linkin's catalog albums so I doubt it.
I mean, are they eligible? They're close to 950k...

^They might be. It'd be more likely if they were over 950k.

^I tweeted:

@wizkhalifa Your album "O.N.I.F.C." has sold 465,000 copies in the USA. Ask @AtlanticRecords to certify it #Gold with the #RIAA.

The sales total could be higher than 465k.

Top Selling Albums that have never been certified with the RIAA

Michael Buble, Christmas, 3,075,531
Doobie Brothers, Greatest Hits, 2,424,839
Rascal Flatts, Greatest Hits V1, 1,308,446
50 Cent, Curtis, 1,278,335
Eric Clapton, Millennium, 1,209,518
U2, U218 Singles: 1,171,887
Queen, We Will Rock You GH, 1,150,603
Michael Buble, Let It Snow, 1,031,600
Maroon 5, V 1,027,000
Jackson 5, Millennium, 1,015,582
Barry White, Millennium, 1,010,044
There is likely a BUNCH of Motown stuff that belongs on that list (and that will never be certified). for instance:

The Supremes Greatest Hits spent a large portion of 1967/68 in the top 5 (20 straight weeks in the top 5, 5 weeks at #1. ) Motown's own claim is 6.2mil in the USA alone .Of course we will never really know and trusting a record label for sales figures is like trusting in a politician :)

You're right to keep albums like that off the list because we have no chance of ever learning the real story with them . But we should keep in mind that the list doesn't represent EVERYTHING :) (geez thanks Motown for playing by the rules - NOT)

Sara Evans' Stronger was at 405k in February 2014. Do you think it can be certified Gold, Chris?

Also, Rick Ross' Mastermind was at 398k at the end of 2014.

I know it's been mentioned earlier on in the thread but Stevie Nicks' Crystal Visions album sold over 505,000 copies as of May 2014 so it has sold way over that by now and it hasn't been certified.

Also, I'm pretty sure that her Bella Donna album needs re-certifying.

^I tweeted:

@StevieNicks Your album "Crystal Visions: Very Best Of" has sold 500,000 copies. Ask Reprise @wbr @warnermusic to certify #Gold with #RIAA

Reprise hasn't certified an album in years. Warner Bros. only certified 3 albums in 2015.

I even sent a message through her website. Nothing.

Well thanks for trying anyway. :D I don't think it's very fair that these titles aren't getting certified because it's a misrepresentation of their popularity.

7 albums from this list were removed in 2015 due to certifications. UGH

I tweeted 542 tweets in 2015.

The RIAA had 101 album certifications in 2015.

I'll keep trying...

Hey Bigham,

Any luck on hearing the status of Journey's albums Escape or Greatest Hits?? I think you tweeted about Escape being 10XP a while back.

They have quite a few albums that are under certified including Greatest Hits Live ( last cert 2001), Essential Journey (last cert 2005), and Time 3 (last cert 1993). Their greatest hits hasn't been certified since 2008 and estimated sales are around 17million+

Thanks,

^Yes, I tweeted this a a few times this year:

@JourneyOfficial Your album "Escape" was certified 9 times #Platinum in 1994. Ask @ColumbiaRecords if it is eligible for #Diamond with #RIAA

I went to their website and could not find a contact email. You should try to find their contact info and send them an email telling them about what should be re-certified. They are touring a lot in 2016.

Thanks,
Currently undercetified for Journey are:

Greatest Hits (last cert in 2008 and scanned 8,5M as of '14) it should be 17xP now ; Time 3, being a 3CD set and it has scanned over 333k it's overdue for 1xP (it's only gold) ; their Greatest hits live is also overdue for a re-cert as it has scanned over 946k back in '12 -still gold- and also The Essential Journey is overdue a 2xP because it has scanned over 1,1M back in '14 and it's a 2CD set and over 100min long.

I was just wondering, a lot more albums must be eligible for a new certification with the new rules. Keeping track of all of them must be insanely difficult though, considering all the ways they could accrue "sales" from either track sales or streams.

Will you continue to base the list only on physical/digital sales? I can't blame you if you do.

^Thanks for asking.

I have no idea how to track streaming numbers.

I'll probably just stick to pure album sales for now.

It's too early to tell what is going to happen with the new requirements.
