Six believed hurt after substance 'sprayed'

Six people are believed to have been injured in Stratford, east London, after reports they had been sprayed with a "noxious substance".

Police were called to the Westfield Shopping Centre just before 20:00 BST. A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The Metropolitan Police said there had been reports of a group of males spraying people with the substance.

Ambulance and fire services are also at the scene.

Those reported injured are believed to be in a number of different locations.

The incident is not believed to be terror related.

A police spokeswoman said a cordon was in place at the shopping complex.

Witnesses at the scene said an argument had broken out among a group of people.

A man who gave his name as Hossen, an assistant manager at Burger King, said a victim ran into the fast food chain to "wash acid off his face".

The 28-year-old added: "There were cuts around his eyes and he was trying to chuck water into them."

What's the reason? Not that it can be justified.

Six injured in east London 'acid attack'

Six people have been injured in Stratford, east London, in a reported acid attack.

Police were called to Stratford Centre, opposite Westfield, just before 20:00 BST, following an "altercation" between two groups of males where a noxious substance was thrown.

Ambulance crews treated six males at the scene for their injuries, and three of them were taken to hospital.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Those reported injured were believed to be in a number of different locations, sparking initial fears that people had been sprayed at random.

However the Met Police said those injured were connected to the initial attack.

There should be stronger regulations about buying acid od similar substances, since it became an easy effective weapon.
There were 700 attacks just in London last year, this year Is gonna ve even higher and nothing has changed.

^ Agreed. Way too easy to get a hold of.

I was at Stratford centre and Westfield Friday and yesterday... it's in walking distance to my house. Really sad.

Honestly something like this is my biggest fear. I'm more scared of an acid attack than a bomb.

Thankfully their injuries were not too serious but you often hear about incidents like this in East London.....maybe I will just avoid that part of London in general. The only reason I ever set foot in Stratford in the first place is for Westfield and the one in West London is WAY better so I think I'll stay away from the area permanently. :-?

Acid attacks are barbarism on another level. The lowest it can be.

They anger me more than anything else.

The laws need to change to mandatory jail time for these offenders. If you stab someone you to got prison - trying to melt someone’s face/skin off is just as serious imo.
