Dance/Remixes Song Idenfication Thread

Postby Cypher » Mon Feb 21, 2005 9:58 pm

OK everyone - given the recent surge of growth that this forum has been experiencing of late, it's been suggested by our very own Grybop that it would be a good idea to merge all future enquiries as to the identity of dance tracks into a single thread.

I guess dance is one of those genres that is forever beset by such queries, given that it's all about individual tracks rather than the artists themselves - hence it's far more difficult to put a name to 'em.

So, if you're stuck as the name of that track you're forever hearing when you go out, this is the place to ask what it is.

Plus, as an added bonus, you'll have the expertise of the entire UKMix dance community on hand to assist you - one of us is bound to know the answer.

Sounds a pretty good deal to me!

Post your questions below...

Hello everyone,

I heard a song on MOS Radio on the way to work the other night, but i missed the artist.

The song is in a 80's Looped house style and samples The Pointer Sisters "Automatic"

Anyone got any ideas.

Thanks

Hope I got the right thread to ask this question.

I read in MixMag Motorcycle have got a new track, but I'm not sure if it's out yet. Does anyone know a site where I can preview it or something? I really liked their first single "As The Rush Comes", so I'm dying to hear this new one...

Thanks!

I am looking for a house track from a couple of years ago (I think). It goes "Shame on you, shame on you" so I'm guessing it's called Shame On You. It has verses etc, female vocal and sounds fairly similar to Holy Ghost - Superman. Thanks for ya help.

Hi Cypher,

When I first saw this sticky I thought it was a good idea. Identifying tracks is one of the main reasons I joined (yes, I know, very recently).

However, after giving this sticky some thought, I don't after all think it will work successfully.
It will soon get very long and unmanagable with many questions un answered.
In order to see if you have an answer you have to look for it (yes, this may cause you to read/help someone else but it may only cause inconvenience).

I think a totally separate Dance Track Questions section, like the Test section, would be the best way. Like that you can easily scroll through the questions and look at any that you may be able to answer. The person who asked the question can have his thread e-mail him as at present when someone posts a reply (this does not work with the sticky, you will get e-mails for all posts, like this one which answers nothing!)

Please do not consider this a gripe by a new member who should know his place but a suggestion that I hope could improve and enhance the forum.

What do you think?

Another forum separation would be useless in my opinion.

Some message boards have a board just for "Name That Song". Of course the one I'm referring to was an unofficial board for a radio station that didn't ID songs, so it was necessary.

It would also be beyond my ability to do - one for Lars if it ever came to it.

In any case, I suggest we roll with this thread for the time being - if it does prove unmanageable, as has been postulated, then we'll look into inventive alternatives that don't involve a significant change to the site.

Probably 'Enjoy Yourself' from Soul Avengerz - that's pretty big at the moment. HMV may still be stocking the 12" - at least, that's where I got mine from.

The original Jackson track is called 'Off The Wall', a title picked up by Wisdome when they did a similar funky re-work a few years back on Positiva.

Hi,

Im after a tune, unfortunately I dont have a sample!

Tune sounds a lot like michael gray's "the weekend" (im not sure if its a full intention / michael gray production or remix or even a bootleg!?! the vocals start like"la la la, la la la..." and the chorus contains the lyrics "something beautiful"

I know its not much to go on, any help would be great!

Cheers!

Hi all,

Finally, my first post! I've registered months ago already, but for some reason I could never log on, nor could I reach anyone to help me... It just kept saying that my account was not active, or something. But it seems to be working now!

Anyway, my question: I've been looking for a dance track for quite some time. It sounds a bit trancey, with a girl in a high voice singing

"All I wanna do, all I wanna do,
all I wanna do is touch you"

I'm sure I heard her voice before, she must be well-known, but I don't know who it is... Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,

Eric.
