This song always felt half-baked to me. Like it was written quickly on the piano, she laid down the vocals in one take, and then it was given some current radio-friendly/trendy production. I like the song, and the sentiment, and how personal it was for her and her experience at the time. I would almost have preferred it to be less generic/radio friendly sounding to make it more organic and heartfelt, with no concern about it being radio-friendly.cheapthrills wrote:I think what this song shows is that if she wanted to, she could create a song that competes with current music trends and still make it her own. She could be competitive within the current market, but I'm not she really cares about that anymore. She's doing her own thing and I respect that.
Same here.Jesper wrote:it's a cute song, I still like it, but is is disposable, it's not like I would have missed it, had it never came out
But it was not a radio hit...salamecharlie wrote:I truly think this is an excellent track - yes it was manufactured to be a radio hit but she needed it. And I absolutely love the RnB influences in the verses.
