This song is a bit low key and at the same time a bit banger-ish, I like that 8-)

Not sure what this did for her Joanne era or if it charted well enough and sustained, but this is one of the low points of her career.

I'd say it was an important step for her streaming game. Now she has to step it up.

I think what this song shows is that if she wanted to, she could create a song that competes with current music trends and still make it her own. She could be competitive within the current market, but I'm not she really cares about that anymore. She's doing her own thing and I respect that.

This song always felt half-baked to me. Like it was written quickly on the piano, she laid down the vocals in one take, and then it was given some current radio-friendly/trendy production. I like the song, and the sentiment, and how personal it was for her and her experience at the time. I would almost have preferred it to be less generic/radio friendly sounding to make it more organic and heartfelt, with no concern about it being radio-friendly.

That said, I also feel like this was an attempt to score a summer radio hit leading up to the tour launch. And, on some level, it was just that.

I truly think this is an excellent track - yes it was manufactured to be a radio hit but she needed it. And I absolutely love the RnB influences in the verses.

I've been enjoying this quite a lot lately.

It's such a shame that she never made a video for this song though!

I never got into the cure. For me personally it’s so generic. It’s just hit chasing fodder.
Most listened to albums at the moment:
Christina Aguilera - Liberation
Lily Allen - No Shame
Kali Uchis - Isolation

I loved it for a minute then it got old. Everything on Joanne has more replay value.

For those who have seen the movie…

Considering this was recorded and published by the time they were filming ASIB, and taking into account the lyrics of the song…

Spoiler:
A cure for Jack's alcoholism… if he can't find the cure, she'll fix him with her love…

Don't you think this was intented to be one of the songs in the movie but they scrapped it in the end so she decided to release it as a stand-alone single?

I think it was a test the waters release. If the reception to this would have been terrible, I would imagine they could have considered to re-record songs.

Yeah I think it makes sense that it was meant for the movie and it seems that for some reason it was decided to be excluded from the movie so she released it as a buzz stand-alone single (and I think she likely changed its production into a more tropical house song once it was removed from the film).

If it had been used in the film I think it would've had a more pop-rock, anthemic and cinematic production instead.
Britney Spears . Michael Jackson . Madonna . Metallica . Radiohead . Led Zeppelin . Oasis . Beyoncé . Soda Stereo
